Demolition Man movie

Combo. Haxley didn't think about BNW as dystopia, but rather utopia.

Brave New World, just with the depressing aesthetic of 1984, (council flats, deanoboxes etc.).

1984 -> the soviets
brave new world -> the americans

Are you fucking retarded?

Brave New World by far, much easier to control than 1984

Brave New World all the way.
We still have certain aspects of 1984 on, as in authoritarian governments and corupt legal system that obey the interests of a political elite. We're going to be full BNW by the end of the century, surely.

This.

Brave New World is a dystopia of what was to come if American culture and values were to win the cold war.

Control the population through pleasure(soma and entertainment) and conditioning (in our case the media), but throw in a few surveilance things so that you can easily spot the rebels.

...

Neither, The Matrix is the most prescient science fiction story of all time.

>The Matrix
>Fiction

It’s the absolute worst of both

Which has more in common with our present/future?

Nineteen Eighty-Four, by far. Except inverted from where Orwell believed the source of surveillance would come from. Surveillance in real life is actually from the masses using surveillance on each other with phones and social media, not a telescreen in every building.

The Anons saying Brave New World are only seeing the Soma and sexually liberal society, but Brave New World is also primarily about Eugenics, which the modern world has turned away from. There's never going to be genetically modified human serfs for instance. Also the One World Government, which seemingly is running into hurdles with the breakup of the EU and rise of nationalism.

When people are getting fired for their social media posts and have to watch what they say at all times, the world resembles Oceania much more than Brave New World.

Forgot the >

Fuck

Don't forget ((newspeak))

Damn I haven't eaten cereal for years but now I really want some fucking sugar loops...

Not to mention double speak and double think are slowly emerging from their infancy.

>but Brave New World is also primarily about Eugenics, which the modern world has turned away from. There's never going to be genetically modified human serfs for instance.

They want us to race-mix and mix cultures to the point where nobody actually has any identity, to be the perfect slave. I guess that's the opposite of eugenics. The world we live in now is absolutely insane.

BNW absolutely

I'll even add that SJW is almost the opposite of Brave New World. It's not just drugs and sex that are used to pacify the population, it's the genetic caste program where Alphas are born smarter than others and become World Controllers, while Betas, Gammas, etc just give up and live a life of mindless entertainment.

"Some people are genetically superior and should be leaders" is the complete antithesis of the SJW "Everyone must be equal in all ways"

When I was younger, reading brave new world just made me want to get high on Soma.

Fpbp

>Dysgenics

You fucking moron.

>Which has more in common with our present/future?
A brave new world hands down, it really is spot on.

the matrix was the wachowski brothers version of ghost in the shell essentially.

But the ideology sjws espouse has a very different result to what they believe it to be ala the soviet union, "everyone's equal but some are more equal than others". The ppl who use the ideology of social justice and marxism don't tell ppl what the end game will entail they just use them to attain it.

>Sandra Bullock as Lieutenant Lenina Huxley
>The character was named after Aldous Huxley, the author of Brave New World, and Lenina Crowne, a character in Brave New World

BNW since the 60s
1984 since the 90s

This is such an idiotic perversion of Orwell's intent. He was a noted antifascist, 1984s 'thought police' would not have taken the side of sexists in the workplace.

Today's thought police, from Orwell's left-libertarian perspective, would probably constitute the bipartisan agreement that the oppressive power structures that exist now must always exist. Forget anarchism's conprehensiveness and history as a functioning, if fleeting, ideology; Anti-capitalists are terrorists. Ignore capitalism's inherent failures, praise only its success; Socialists are enemies of the state. Dont question your country's superiority; internationalists are unpatriotic

Orwell was talling about you alright Nazi fucks ruining everything, not SJWs. Orwell WAS an SJW.

Remember too that Eric Blair(George Orwell) was Aldous Huxley's English student when Huxley taught English at Eton.

Talking* alt right*

Furthermore, doublethink is relevant less because of contradictions we see among journalism, and relevant more because of the amnesia it implies.

Right wingers will forget that for 8 years racist whites were hanging effigies and burning crosses because we elected a black democrat, but if you dare criticize the President now that he's their fascist icon, they whip into a frenzy in his defense.

Centrists can forget that Obama deported millions more than any other president, because, its okay if a democrat does it.

People forget what they used to care about when it comes to national political discourse because discourse is fleeting, and because both parties base their allegiance on partisanship rather than principle.

1984 is much more accurate than BNW. But not for the reasons you all seem to think it is.

>"Don't have children because of climate change"

...

>tfw hauling

This. Btw thread is mediocre...

>Don't forget ((newspeak))

This is the thesis of 1984 so it really is more right. Whoever controls language controls society and the left currently has license to control. Electronic mass media started its conquest in the post-war period and now more than ever we are linked directly into a system that is outputting symbols which manipulate our mind and therefore behavior. Whoever takes control of a majority of the systems has immediate control of the world.

>Surveillance in real life is actually from the masses using surveillance on each other with phones and social media, not a telescreen in every building.
Our lives are tracked and sold to advertisers by Google and we embrace it when accepting terms and conditions.

and the amnesia applies to more than just the current political discourse. It applies, as it did in 1984, to our idea of history.

We pretend the civil rights movement was a peaceful series of gatherings that ended in a civil rights act being signed to unanimous agreement, because the US wants to shy away from its history of incredible white violence amd dissent.

Dodge just ran a truck ad using an excerpt from an MLK speech denouncing capitalism and using, specifically, car manufacturers as an example.

We pretend like Lincoln was a national hero for abolishing slavery, and ignore the letters he wrote saying he would leave slavery in place if that's what it took to secure the union.

We naturally condemn Hitler and the holocaust as totems of absolute evil but we refuse to remember Churchill for his genocides and internment of African natives, or America for its genocides of Native Americans and internment of Japanese Americans.

The world we live in, in the US at least, mirrors 1984, and since it does it very well, none can recognize it.

>dystopia and utopia are different things
Yikes

BNW was a utopia though

This, especially the whole bit about the Zion "resistance" being planned by the machines to control the variable anomaly im humans.

They Live was not supposed to be a handbook

1984 of course. System depicted in it is functional, achievable and all-encompassing. It makes sense, it can work. It's built on group identity, it relies on control and distribution of information, it employs sheer violence, fear and paranoia. If you fail to understand how much in common it has with modern society just check out the number of people arrested in the UK for hate "hate speech". Thought police, double think, newspeak are alive and well today, all it takes to turn England into Airstrip One is a global financial meltdown that will wipe out welfare state. Next thing you know, uncle Corbin (Goldstein) rallies the masses to for proletarian revoltuion.

Brave New World is a dumb, sugared, socialist utopia. The idea that you can control society by administering some pills is idiotic.

its a hideous amalgamation of both, neither reaching their endgame and remaining stillborn to leave us with absolute mediocrity.

Brave New World 100%

This. Someone needs to make a separate thread about it;s plot.

It was way more than just pills. Bread and circuses type entertainment, allowing people near total freedom in one or two aspects of their lives (especially sexually) ans various other diversions and selective banning of certain works is also a big part of it. And it's what you see all over the west, though not so much in countries with laws against promoting certain perversions.

This one

>Orwell's 1984 is a critique of the center-left and it applies to moderate democrats/liberals.

Orwell participated in the international brigades, fighting against the fascist Franco regime, was a socialist, and wrote from a left linertarian perspective. Liberals are annoying, sure, but its the right that violently upholds 1984's nationalistic, interventionalist status quo.

Its literally doublethink to intentionally ignore Orwell's intent so you can try to use 1984 against liberals. Y'all are blue pilled as fuck.

Brave New World = Pussy Autist can't deal with culture of his new country.

whats the synopsis?

Brave new world leads to 1984. We are living the second book now.
