Death threats over character deaths usually stem from romantic or sexual attractions. I doubt that very many readers of Baki are so attracted to Hanayama as to behave that way. And, beyond that, it's not like he doesn't always tell the story that he wants to tell. If he was going purely off of fan reactions, Musashi would've been fuckin gone by volume 11.
