Berserk films

How bad or good are the 3 films compared to the 1997 anime, Sup Forums? Should I watch them or is there no need?

they are decent but if you watched the 1997 anime you can skip them, maybe watch the 3rd one if you want to know how guts survives the eclipse

I've read the manga so it's not like I don't know what happens. Are they worth watching in that case? Some of the animation looks pretty good to me.

I don't know then, they are pretty good imo, some scenes are done in cgi and they look bad (still not even close to the abomination of the new anime)
Overall I'd say to watch them if you are in need of some berserk

I liked em. They skip out a lot of stuff though

First movie has janky CGI (nowhere near as bad as 2016-2017), second movie is improved and third movie is the best piece of adaptation Berserk has. Great CG, great direction, great animation.

Wait a few months or a year and come to them later. They're worth watching but I wouldn't watch them back to back with the 1997 series. Think of it as a minor rewatch. Theyre pretty distinct presentation-wise.

They're not very good but it's hard for me to be too harsh on them now that we have the 2016/2017 series.

Thanks again. I watched 10 minutes of the first film and the CGI was genuinely hard to look at. So it's worth it to continue?

Definitely. Later on the CGI gets less distacting and blends in better with the enviorments. I think the movies are a better material for introducing new people to the series, rather than something for the fans.

>The new anime is so bad that people end up praising the 1997 shit adaptation

wew lad

It was genuinely good though.

...because it was good?

No it wasn't and I remember how people talked shit about it.
Have you read the manga? serious question.

Not that guy but I have and I love how close of an adaptation it is.

Only thing I can fault it for is that some of the fight scenes don't feel dynamic.

i have literally never heard anyone talk shit about berserk 1997.
people usually coment on the animation being "sub par" when it was actually decent for its time.
and missing out guts rape scene and skull knight, overall its a solid adaptation and the best we will are likely to get.

I also kinda missed Wyald. He was a fun apostle.

Has anyone photoshopped these onto Berserk characters yet?

I watched the three films and i unironically like them

I like that this scene is in the films. In the anime it doesn't really make that much sense why the king has such a hateboner for Griffith.

Movies have better action sequences but 97 has more narrative and battles. I would watch up to the part before the final clash with guts and griffith for 97 than watch the third movie.
