Why is Denmark considered to be scandinavian country? It seems that it's quite different in culture etc. I'm watching winter olympics and browsing Sup Forums where Norway, Finland and Sweden are having friendly banter and competing in the Olympics against each other but Danish people are nowhere to be seen.

That Denmark is not very represented in winter olympics is due to it being a flat country with few places to skii. We also don't have many participants from Southhern Sweden, but you would not know that.
Essentially characteristic for the Scandinavian countries is that cultural and linguistic differences often are bigger within a country than across the border

Culturally you could say southern Sweden clusters culturally closer to Denmark. Northern Sweden closer to Finland. Middle Sweden we don't speak about.

Scandinavia consist only of the three kingdoms of Denmark, Norway and Sweden, who share common culture and almost the same language.
Danish and Norwegian are almost the same, while Swedish is a bit different.
The reason Denmark is not to be found in the Olympics is that there are no mountains in the country while the scandinavian other two countries have at lot.
