I find it contradictory when people say the strength of diversity is having different view points and opinions, but then these same people stress unity. Diversity can also act like a ball and chain so to speak. In USofA blacks make up 13% of the population...but we cater to them even though they are a minority. Isnt a Representative Democratic Republic suppose to be about the will of the majority? I just have a hard time seeing the positives of diversity.

It's perpetuated because of this exact reason. It makes the host nation weak to the parasites that consume it.
This is so concrete that we see it throughout the animal kingdom. An animal is willing to make more sacrifice to save it's own kind than to save other 'families' from predators. There's no reason to believe this nature is absent in humanity. In fact, we have studies to suggest otherwise.

In the United States when drawing the congressional districts it is forbidden to do so in such a way that it would disrupt the voice of minority communities. They have to draw the lines such that black areas, latino areas, etc. are grouped well enough that they could actually elect someone from their community to represent them in congress.
Why is this? Because it was deemed unfair for these communities not to have someone to represent their interests. This is telling because by definition this means that the interests of the black, latino, etc. communities are NOT the interests of the white majority. There may be some overlap on particular issues, but as a whole it is recognized and protected by the government that different ethnic groups have different interests.
Diversity, therefore, is by its very nature subversive to the strength of a nation. Rather than a unified nation that can work towards a common goal, we have various groups drawn around ethnic lines all competing to have their interests promoted.
For latinos its immigration. Their countries are largely garbage with pitiful economies. They want to come to the USA, bring their entire extended family, and get a cut of America's vast wealth. To that end, their interests promote the erosion of immigration laws and amnesty for illegals, as well as general welfare. This is directly at odds with the interests of the white majority (outside the ruling class), who have their wages depressed or in some cases their opportunity outright removed.
Blacks being eternally in poverty want more welfare and government handouts. This is again against the interests of the white majority middle class because they are the ones who have to foot the bill for all this.

Other groups that are generally considered less problematic and are smaller in number still have interests counter to the majority. Indians and some east asians, mostly chinese for example, have interests in H1B1 visa abuse being allowed to continue, again counter to the interests of the native white population that are losing their jobs.
How can diversity make us stronger when it literally just injects conflict into the nation. In the time of colonialism and nationalism, and even before that in the time of monarchy, the people were unified because they were one people. What was good for one was good for all (with some exceptions based on class). This allowed people to be much more unified and the nation could dedicate itself to forwarding the objectives of the majority.
Now, with diversity it's endless squabbling internally. No unified goal. No trust in society. And all of that is before we even get into things like IQ or violent crime. Even if everyone was actually equally capable like the left likes to meme, diversity would still be cancer because of the competing interests of different groups. A nation of strangers cannot function long term. A nation must be of brothers, bound by a common culture, identity, and interests. Otherwise, it is doomed.

What I see happening in the world today is the same thing I think happened before the last cataclysm that wiped out most of our species 13,000 or more years ago.
All you need to look at is racial breeding patterns, and where population growth is exploding in the world today.
