The Guardian has launched an attack piece against Jacob Rees-Mogg, claiming that normal methods of left-wing power such as hit pieces and satire are no match for him. The piece compares the Remainers and anti-Brexit figures in British political life as Lord of the Rings characters valiantly fighting against the forces of darkness.
>But Tolkings’s folkloric hybrid seems perfect for Remainers too. When my anarchist and communist friends voted, sincerely, for Brexit, the last strand of our disagreement still standing was the evidence that Brexit would create a bridgehead for the far right, demons entering this plane from previously distant dimensions, and it has. Put on the magic ring and you can see them coming.
>But as all around us crumbles, a plucky band of little folk nonetheless stands firm against the wraiths of the government’s far right. Old Bilbo Ken Clarke Baggins, upon the road to Rivendell with Sonny Rollins’s Freedom Suite bopping on his Walkman; little Frodo Soubry, stepping forward in grim determination with her loyal follower, tiny Samwise Greening; all under the guidance of Lord Gandalf Adonis and the protection of ancient Treebeard Heseltine, a speaking and often incoherent tree of indeterminate vintage. This brave band sets off to save the Tory party and, by association, the nation, from itself.
I think it is clear to all that if Mogg terrifies the left so, he is the definition of /ourguy/.
Stew wrote himself into a corner and I don't believe he's as liberal as he pretends, he's more thoughtful and big brain centrist irl, but his writing is still completely aimless shit.
Their new tabloid format is the final nail in the coffin.

Mogg is an anti-abortion, anti-homosexual, anti-EU, anti-immigrant MP that just a month ago became head of an influential group of 60-100 MPs in Parliament (nobody knows how big the group is) called the ERG. He had always been a bit of a meme up to that point due to his ridiculously caricature British gentleman image that he deliberately cultivates, and he has always been seen as harmless. Now that's he in charge of the ERG in only a few weeks he's launched the Brexit fightback against the pro-Remain Chancellor and other cucked cabinet ministers as well as the politicised civil service itself. Now he's being talked of as potential leadership material despite having some views moderates might not like, because of his authenticity and Corbyn antidote pride in Britain and right-wing values. He is now odds on favourite to being the next Tory leader, which - if Theresa May gets BTFO (which could happen within weeks based on the number of no confidence letters sent in) - would lead to him becoming PM until 2022.
>when did british politics become actual politics again instead of meaningless globalist theater
It's all theatre. What is becoming increasingly clear to a lot of people though, is that going full Merkel in the pursuit of moderates and centrists is starting to damage the Tory party irreparably. On the left we've seen a return to full on socialism, so the right seems to be responding and moving towards actual conservatism again.
>Mogg isn't perfect (nobody in modern politics is), but he's definitely a step in the right direction.
Couldn't put it better myself. Some shills seem to hate his guts, Jordan B Peterson style, because he isn't willing to argue publicly for a Holocaust and mass-deportation of wogs, and against his free market beliefs. Oh well. I give more of a shit about his genuine patriotism, his persona, his authenticity and coherence compared to the scatter-brained nonces we have in government here now.
Last week there were reports some MPs were trying to encourage him to become part of a ruling triumvirate with Boris Johnson and Michael Gove, like something out of Ancient Rome. The media response to it just shows how he is now seen as a genuine threat by the left.

Eh, the Peterson situation is a totally different issue. Mogg is a pretty genuine conservative that's pulling the Conservative Party (& by extension the Overton Window) to the Right. >In my opinion, his overall effect is a positive one.
Peterson would best be described as a classical liberal. The majority of his audience are people who've already been turned off by the Left and are looking for answers. Peterson has become a sort of 'pit-stop' on the way to the Right for people who might otherwise wander towards conservatism, or possibly even nationalism. He makes some* good points in a few areas, and i'm sure SOME of his followers were Leftists who he has converted into his pocket of quasi-Centrism (which is certainly an improvement). However....I think MOST of his audience is actually being held-back from us by him. >In my opinion, his overall effect is a neutral or possibly a slightly negative one.
I wish that the Peterson fans had instead discovered Dr. William Pierce or George Rockwell on their search for answers. >What's the most important thing in your life? youtube.com/watch?v=njjI6Me5o_U

>Mogg is a pretty genuine conservative that's pulling the Conservative Party (& by extension the Overton Window) to the Right.
Yes, he's very useful in that respect, no matter what one thinks about his economic views. I don't even care that he's a Papist, as it perfectly validates some of his more politically toxic (to the mainstream) views.
And I do so see what people mean by that with Peterson, I just think that his neutralising effects have a greater effect on the left than the right, and I can stomach relatively centrist right-wingers if it means that the left loses some of its moral authority at the hands of a weepy, painkiller-chugging leaf. I think he has a slight net-effect, but the obvious amount of hatred he seems to invoke on Sup Forums makes it clear that he's touching some nerves. It's the same as Mogg, and I merely wanted to make that comparison. Just look how Mogg lets left-wingers embarrass themselves just by existing and through good natured English behaviour.
>the obvious amount of hatred he seems to invoke on Sup Forums makes it clear that he's touching some nerves I used to think this too, but upon closer inspection I've come to believe that the majority of the Peterson hate legitimately seems to be coming from other Nationalists who think that he is having a net-negative effect like I was suggesting earlier.
Personally i'm not quite-so certain of what his actual effect is. which is why i've taken a somewhat Peterson-neutral approach. You seem to be sightly Peterson-positive which I can still understand and sympathize with. I'm really only against the Peterson fanboy Nu-cancer who defend him at every turn as though he's the Second-coming of Jesus and can do no wrong.
>Just look how Mogg lets left-wingers embarrass themselves just by existing It's glorious. The mainstream attacks on him are basically just shrieking hysterics, the apolitical normie-lads that the Left has depended on for the last few decades will never buy-into this handwringing insanity (pic related)
