At one hand, the song isn't your typical jpop opening song, and at the other hand, it requires a modicum level of skill, unlike your synthesizer pop song #2501. And although isn't *that* good on its own, the thread is about good openings.
And that's the catch: opening. Isn't the art or the song on its own, I could say each one is average. Is the combination of both that manages to transmit some melancholic, insightful vibe. It rises the expectancies to something wholly different to what the shit show is. It could be said it creates hype, which should be the idea behind a good opening, but few manage to achieve.
