They used a guy for these shots probably.

It looks like shit most of the time.

What the fuck is rotoscoping

IMO it's refreshing, though still uncomfortable. I wonder what the japanese think about this. You see, they look exactly like japanese but for western it's kind of bad. Do japanese think the same?

It's when an animator uses a scope to zoom in really far on the paper he's drawing on in order to draw really really high quality pixel perfecting drawings

...

Not all animation referencing real life footage is rotoscoping.

Amazing makes the best anime ever.
Google it you fucking retard
Why the fuck did she just spaghetti? Is this supposed to be cute or soemthing?

this is pretty disturbing

...

yes filming someone then drawing over them is cheaper than just drawing a thing everything that looks bad is because of money there is no other limit when it comes to animation

Part of the problem with this one is that it's completely unnatural acting.

That's not rotoscoped.

That's not rotoscoped

Can be good.

what is this anime?

shounen maid kuro-kun

Can be nightmare fuel when done wrong. Can be amazing when done right.

Damn

Someone post the Hyouka run.

Nah, its like 50-60 year old acting.

looking at that webm unironically made me feel a little nauseous

What a bummer. Good thing I only ironically got nauseous.

How do you know that's rotoscoped?
I don't think it is. Just because something is well animated doesn't mean it's directly redrawn from live action.

if it looks good like this scene then I have no problems with it

>tfw the animator of this scene was so much attacked by the fans that he quitted working as an animator and now he's making money by drawing gochiusa doujins in which the fuckers have gigantic penises.

Life is hard.

Good to know he's moving up in life.

I'm no animation expert. I watch anime. I don't buy anime. I go in knowing that I'm not the target audience and never was, and that's a good thing. If japan was making anime for america it'd be shit like hollywood movies are.
I'm glad they're trying new stuff, no matter what it is. MAPPA's tencent funded Bahamut felt like an old disney production, the dancing scenes in both seasons reminded me of the dancing scene in Beauty and the Beast(Disney cartoon ver). Rotoscoping or whatever, I'm watching anime for what the japanese do, not for what other people who watch anime want the japanese to do. I think that if anime was what Sup Forums say it wanted it to be it would be closer to something like Heavy Metal or cartoons made for older people, and Sup Forums wouldn't like that. I've watched anime because it's different, because it does stuff that doesn't make sense to me and because it has weird visual cues and animation sometimes. Rotoscoping or whatever they want to use, I'll leave it to them, they are the experts here.

Wait a minute. Are you telling me typehatena was an animator?

She was snacking, when she was supposed to be training to be an idol, i.e. dancing and shit.

She eventually gets really fat and tries to quit her idol career.

>I'm watching anime for what the japanese do, not for what other people who watch anime want the japanese to do
This is very true.
People are drawn to anime because they do things differently but then they complain because it's not pc enough like their Hollywood movies.

Part of being an anime fan is realizing you're not the target audience, you're just along for the ride.

The true red pill is that this scene was never rotoscoped or strange. It's simply a look into Haruka's autistic mind and therefore a daily occurrence.

I don't remember the scene, anyone have this?

yep
yaraon-blog.com/archives/75691

Oh god I love his shit. Maybe more animators should get shit on by the fans and become r-18 artists after.

guys please someone tell me what is this anime

Is it really his fault if the actors doing the scene suck ass, or are there ways he could have made that scene flow smoother?

Just google image search the gif you absolute baka.
Also literally how new.

already tried that literal retard

Someone already posted source.

Works for me.

>calls others retards
>can't even google search a pic

you know it had a few good scenes but holy fuck did they drop the ball inb4 PO TATE TOE

what the fuck were they thinking to go with a full rotoscoped anime

pic unrelated

whatanime.ga/

When you mentioned about the gigantic penises, I thought you were just talking about how guys are drawn with thick long cocks but the cocks he draws are just hilariously long without the girth.

It is the mouth of hell itself.

But the manga is good.

Isn't that webm more likely to be using referenced footage?

So did they actually rotoscope a middle school girl taking her clothes off?

Looks like they wanted to do live drama but Animax will not let them, so they sought a compromise solution.

nope the director is the guy who did both mushishi seasons

I want to fug Aoba

jesus what the fuck is this

18 faggot, learn Aoba's name and age senienfag

u can tell when movement is being rotoscoped by the key frames

although doesnt mean theyre not using reference shots, which in most cases they are

When done right it can be awesome.

When done right.

this is hillarious

This is an amusing post, even if it's kind of sad

Better than CG.

Why would you still want those chips after dropping them in the dirt?

Put your glasses on grandpa

I think it looks pretty bad most of the time but it can work out well occasionally

youtube.com/watch?v=DFOF9acNUH8

infinitely better than CG
if its done well it barely even noticeable, id rather this becomes more mainstream and the industry gets better at implementing it.

It's not so great, I hate when idiots confuse certain known sakuga artists with rotoscoping the most though.
couch cough Ohira cough

that's not rotoscoping retard

literally nothing wrong with this

can anyone remember the name of the animator who specialises in stuff like this, often for DGKB?

youtube.com/watch?v=NnJbtbh4tDE

underrated

>When you look up the source and find out her age.

Yes when it's used right. See Aku no Hana or Ping Pong The Animation for using it right.

Even if they weren't in little bags it's just common fucking decency to clean up your own shit.

Aku no Hana anons get ready to fap

Rotoscoping looks exactly as good as filming does.

So you'd better have good actors and a good director.

Every thread

The wot

Wait, what? Why does each chip have it's own tiny bag? Is this autism?

Rotoscoping is just another excuse for forced animation, to have fans say look this show is so special eks de. Seriously, there are countless scenes of someone changing which were done without rotoscoping and look better. It's just unnecessary.

Is he stuttering, you little bitch?

Yes

His disgusting taste in doujins make it pretty clear why he was such a disgusting animator by the way.

So they can eat it without having to touch the chips, not that a greasy finger like you would care.

>tfw was watching a fightan stream a while ago and the guy was eating chips with chopsticks
At first I was weirded out but then I realized it's fucking smart.

I don't have a problem with it as long as it isn't too distracting.

I want to do improper things to Aoba then have that rotoscoped.

Wouldn't you get less chips per bag, though? Why not just get a paper towel and wipe your hands afterwards?

I don't mind since its lovely small breasted Aoba.

This raises an important question.
Would retroscoping jav and animating it be a good or a bad idea?

I would watch it, do improper things to myself and have that rotoscoped.

They're biscuits. Have you never seen Japanese snacks?

>When you look up the source and find her age

>Thoughts on rotoscoping in anime?

Produces some amazing results but it's pretty lifeless. Like, a shot now and then is amazing but if you were to make an entire show with it, you'd end up with something as bland as badly done 3D anime.

Bending the rules is what makes the medium of 2D so appealing. If you want to make stuff adhere exactly to reality, you might as well just invest in a good shader and work with motion-capped models.

In moderation, it provides some great results, like or the Patlabor 2 movie intro.

>that
>well animated

Rotoscoping is used very, very rarely in anime. I don't think reference footage is even used very often.

You don't know anything about animation. Go back to watching South Park.

Stop posting the only good-looking scene in a terribly made anime.
Rotoscoping can be a great technique when used properly but shit like this give it a bad name.
