I-it gets good after X seasons I swear!!

>i-it gets good after X seasons I swear!!
What's the fucking point, nigga?

That's just a poor way of saying that there's an appeal to the show that they appreciated that they feel you don't and that there'll be some kind of pay-off to said vague appeal later.

Some stories take time to build up. Who'd a thunk.

Why are you friends with people who watch shounen garbage?

I mean everyone wants others to appreciate something oneself liked. Makes us feel important and good.

I ask the same thing when I dropped that piece of shit of a series called Penguindrum

I know. I was explaining their intent, not criticizing them. I think the bigger issue is in what the person receives the recommendation deems to be good, how they handle hype and develop expectations, and how much of a contrarian they are. There's still the issue that it's phrased that the show "gets good" when the recommender saw something in it before that point, causing them to get there in the first place so trying to act like the show they like is less good than they felt towards the beginning instead of just explaining what they saw in it to begin with.

be patient and you'll be rewarded if you are reading/watching the right stuff

Fucking Fafner

I think most people don't know how to express why they liked it, what they saw in it, hence in a desperation that they like it for the same reason,
"It'll get good"

Fuck off and kill yourself.

It's unfortunate that these kinds of people are misunderstood or attacked by the people they're trying to give the recommendation.

>Madoka gets good after the first 8 episodes
>Steins;Gate gets good after the first 12 episodes

The payoff isn't enough if I barely like the characters to begin with.

I've never seen a show magically "get good" after a set number of episodes. Either it was appealing from the start or it never was.

>HxH
>it's "amazing" after the first 40 episodes

Fuck that shit.

Gurren Lagann gets good after the first 8

I liked the first couple episodes so I might believe you.

Getter Robo takes 3 manga series to get great, but Getter Robo is still a masterpiece. You have to climb a mountain to see the view at the top.

>Steins;Gate gets good after the first 12 episodes
It's great from the start, if you like the characters that is.

I was too lazy to read the rest, nevermind me.

Gurren Lagann is perfect from the very first episode.

...

I like Okabe. Just Okabe though, because he was the most unpredictable. Maybe that Braun dude too because his story came out of nowhere.

Maybe you should finish that, user.

...

>I don't like it so the person who does must have poorly thought out reasons for liking it
The person disliking the show could also easily be the one with poor reasoning. It's just that people are biased towards the mindset that thinking negatively is a sign of intelligence.

Hunter x Hunter in a nutshell

Even still, I would never recommend someone watch more than 3-6 episodes of something if they're not enjoying it. Nor would I recommend they read the source material if they don't like the MC (unless there is a vast difference, like I'm talking night and day in terms of character).

It's just ridiculous.

The max I'd probably suggest is four and that'd be with an explanation of what I like about it and if it's someone I know, why I think they'd like it without going to into detail.

>The VN start to get good after 50 hours I swear

I guess a lot of you aren't too into Infinite Ryvius or Shiki.

D. Gray-man except it never got good. Most people are right that series take off after a certain amount of episodes but I was lied to with D. Gray-man.
