Do you prefer anime or manga?

Do you prefer anime or manga?

Why do you keep making this thread? Why do you use the same image every time?

Why isn't there a /anime general/, /manga general/ /retro anime/, /light novels/ either? As for your question I have higher standards when it comes to mango, so in turn I barely read any of them.

Manga.

Manga.

Depends, each media has benefits. Manga is typically more detailed in both story and image.
Anime is more of an experience with the audio visual aspect.

>2017
>has not not awaken for autism awareness
SHIGGIDIGGIDY

But to answer, I prefer anime. Anime goes through a tighter filtering process than manga, because it costs over 9000 times more than to feed just one mangaka. Manga is thus more often utter garbage. Of course there is a problem that an episode MUST have a length of 30 min. as that is the standard slot. But if the anime never catches up with the manga, there is no problem. Only if you really love the anime, or if the manga pleases your niches then the manga is worth read.

/manga/ when? Cant stand anime fags

I really wanted to like that manga purely for the beautiful art but the story and characters were just so fucking bland. Maybe I dropped it too early but they needed to focus more on war tactics and battles than old men in rooms talking politics while MC had various mental breakdowns.

You did the right thing. Just move on. When you boil it down. No hastily drawn manga ever has actual good looking art.

I want an update to The Long March, and I want to see the Ugyurs rise again.

manga
but anime is better when im tired, eating or playing ffxiv

Manga. I don't watch anime.

Yes.

manga

Anime
>some cartoons with expressionless faces opening and closing their mouths for minutes on end
>awful colors. background and foreground don't match 99% of the time.
>rarely has a satisfying conclusion.
>always the same recycled shit because that is what otakus eat up

Manga
>actual artwork. every panel is drawn with care and detail.
>black and white so there's no way to mess up colors. what's more, you get to see how different artists deal with the limitations of just drawing in black and white.
>satisfying story progressions, especially if it's monthly. Godtier endings a lot of the times
>everyone reads manga so authors can take more risks and there's more variety.

In an ideal world we both knew this isn't true.

Manga is almost always superior art and story-wise. The only drawback is that it's slow.

>Why isn't there a /anime general/, /manga general/ /retro anime/, /light novels/ either?
That would be cool but generals 99.9% of the times turn into a complete shitfest

anyway, manga by far.

>but generals 99.9% of the times turn into a complete shitfest
That's not the point. The point is if a thread is constant they don't need to constantly make a new thread.

Manga is to anime what a script is to film

essential

what manga is this. looks neat

Nice memory.

>I have higher standards when it comes to mango, so in turn I barely read any of them.
That's dumb.

Manga.

>It's a well known fact that board speed is inversely proportional to board quality
>Neither Sup Forums nor Sup Forums have been split to the point of reaching reasonable speeds
What did hiroshima mean by this?

What did you mean by this user? Hm, I just don't get it.

So what are some good manga that don't have anime yet?

I usually find myself preferring the anime if there's both versions honestly. For example SnK and OPM are both much better in its animated forms.

Only manga. Can't remember the last anime I watched.

>OPM
>much better in animated form

He means generals and long-running shounen shit should be permanently banned.

Too bad this day will never come.

Why is that dumb?

Anime takes longer to consume.

Manga

Why is that a bad thing? It's not a race.

I've yet to find a manga that I'd rank anywhere near my anime favorites, so anime I guess.

yes

novels - not light novels - are superior to both however

It is for Sup Forumsnons who like to nitpick who is "worthy" of discussing anime/manga based on the amount they watched/read.

The longer it takes to consume the higher your standards should be.

Anime fried my brain, I can no longer enjoy other media.

my standards are pretty high already. For both manga and anime.

>I'm a pleb

Source material > Adaptation 97.48% of the time.
I know this because my father is an anime expert

Remember when people actually got banned for starting big3 threads back in the day? Good times.

I don't really mind generals as long as they function as intended - keeping most of the autism contained. It has definitely degraded the overall level of discourse on the board though.

Wouldn't be opposed to a /manga/ specific board with a greatly expanded imagecount limit on threads though. The rampant shitposting from filthy seasonals and secondaries tends to fuck up decent conversation here.

The only time anime is remotely close to being as good as manga is when it's original. Adaptations are nine times out of ten worse than their source material. This of course goes for manga as well, as manga adaptations of original anime are usually trash.

the adaptation of Dennou Coil was fucking fantastic user, what are you talking about

Dorohedoro
Sengoku Youko
Yamikin Ushijima-kun
Kakukaku Shikajika
Wandering Island

Manga adaptions of LNs are better than LN.

>usually

Manga. I'm too intelligent to watch anime.

That's only because LNs are a trash medium by default. Also doesn't help that most LN translations are subpar.

Prove this wrong.

I typically opt for manga and use anime as an a testrun for whether I'm interested in a series or not. Watching feels less of a commitment than reading for me.

...

>I don't really mind generals as long as they function as intended - keeping most of the autism contained.

Even then, when there's too many generals the quality still gets brought down. It becomes a lot harder to spot good threads when generals are all over the place.

I'm the opposite. In the time it takes to watch first episode you can cruise through a number of chapters.

The one with soundtracks, voice-acting, choreography, etc.

so you're a fan of theatre like myself, eh? capital!

i just cant enjoy manga as much as i can anime. manga is better, but i prefer anime so much more. the soundtrack and animation add so much to the experience for me.

i wish manga had soundtracks.

Manga follows a vision if a single creator. Anime is made by a huge disjointed band of misfits.

Therefore, I barely watch anime nowadays.

Anime

I can do other things while watching then reading.

Why even bother?

Stupid Finland.

Manga is mostly just for hipsters, there's a reason why anime is a lot more popular. I tried a lot of those so called "best manga" and dropped them all out of boredom within the first two dozen chapters. Good manga is a myth.

I unironically agree. Not for the 'hipster' part but manga is just so dull in comparison to anime. I don't know why but taken the same dull one-dimensional characters and tropes and turn them into anime and suddenly I'm much more engaged in the story.

Too big of a backlog (2,51 Tb) and i got things to do.

Y-you too.

...

...

By no means will I watch a tropefest even if it's turned into an anime. But you get the gist. There's just so much more shit manga out there that's highly rated

Give me some examples.

Punpun and 20th Century Boys come to mind for "highly rated, extremely utter garbage".

of bad manga? (not the other guy btw, I can understand the appeal of 20th century boys and I love punpun)

NGE and LOGH are the same.

I've already sent a complaint to the moderation about this.

They could create an anime general board like there is for videogames.

Generals are cancer.

Shit manga that is highly rated.

vinland saga, grand blue, koi uso, slam dunk

stick your shounenshit up your ass faggot

go back to your boruto containment general

fujoshit JoJo fan whore

I just listed Manga I've read. I didn't read jojo so I can't really talk about it. Naruto (or Boruto) isn't highly rated.

I will never understand people who waste time "watching" something while also doing other shit.

Retention/memory from both things you're trying to do goes to utter shit when you start multitasking, and you also aren't able to fully enjoy either one because you're constantly switching context. The human brain is not built to do that.

Drives me up the fucking wall when dumbass family members put some television show on and then sit there glued to a fucking computer or cellphone, asking stupid questions about things they missed while they were fucking around.

PICK ONE THING AND DO IT, FUCK

you're trying way too hard there, newfriend

this pasta needs work

that's one really nice aspect about adaptations - you can go back and reread the story with voices and music from the anime as a reference point

Manga.
Almost anytime an anime original comes along it turns out to be complete rubbish.

With manga there's a good amount of good along with bad of course rather than almost all bad.

Funny how I think the exact opposite of this.

Not him, but I prefer to read manga in physical format, so half of the time it involves spending money. Obviously, I won't pay for something I would rate as 6/10 or lower.
It certainly doesn't help that there's not many good manga published in my country and buying english releases costs 2-3 times as much.

If you haven't noticed, most of the animes have a pretty simple stories. You have to be a brain dead monkey to not be able to multitasking, while watching most animes.

It's not pasta man.

...

Physical manga is usually shitty quality.
I like a nice large tablet for manga. I need to try a large e-ink display.

learn English before you post here please

I agree with this. Mostly official translations, at least Viz, is absolutely terrible.

I actually prefer LNs but the quality of those is so few and far between that it makes it hard to appreciate the medium.

LN are just poorly translated YA novels tbqh

I thought about getting a nice tablet for months, under pretense of needing it for work. It's just that I get nauseous from reading on screen for extended periods of time, might have something to do with looking at static images and I'm not sure if a tablet would be better. An e-reader tired me as well.
Also, I find physical manga to be of higher quality than most scans (it really depends on how detailed is the artwork), not to mention questionable quality of many fan translations.

your eyes are fucked user, especially if e-ink does it too

please see an optometrist before you go blind

Manga of course, I'm not a pleb.

>poorly translated YA novels
Yeah but they're allowed to have mature themes and situations unlike the standard American YA novel.

manga but I get bored of anime after like 5 minutes
I have no idea how you people can just sit down and watch a 25 minute long episode

I can't stand how small most physical manga is. Especially when they don't even add a gutter.

What LN has more mature themes than Ender's Game?

>they don't even add a gutter.

Imagine being an autist like me who can't stand cracked spines. Reading physical manga is a nightmare.
