A lot.

Rick and Morty is anime.

How can adults watch shit in that art-style? I get it when you're a kid and you don't know what shading is but I truly can't understand why anyone would watch poorly shaded animation as an adult.

Because it's high-quality tier on same level as Studio Bones.

>no shading WHATSOEVER
>high quality
Isn't shadows one of the first things you learn in artclass?

Rick and Morty has transcended such pleb contrivances as "shadows."

>it's intentional I swear
Kek

The Kek is on you, low IQ contrarian.

>Rick and Morty fags are this delusional
The writing is great but the art is mediocre.

I'm just talking about art-style. Not sure what IQ has to do with that.

The subtle and finer art nuances of the Rick and Morty japanese anime will be studied for generations to come.

This shit is better than half the anime/manga out right now. I don't understand how people can eat up most of the shit studios have been putting out, especially the high school stuff.
>Inb4 mod warns me again

Nobody is forcing you to watch half of the things out right now. I'm only watching 3 shows this season and only one I'm watching as it airs.

What are you talking about, everything is so saturated with loli, highschool, comedy, drama right now that you'll be lucky find something with actual story and character development.

Good thing I'm not watching Ricky & Morty then. Do you ever stop and think that you might be the problem? I can safely say 99% of all anime has actual story and character development. I feel like you're not really trying.

>The writing is great
Nice fucking memes.

It really is.

Just watch Princess Principal.

But don't you see? I'm sure it has character development. And a continuous plot.

Princess Principal is too complex for a Ricky & Morty fangay such as myself.

>It really is.
>H-Hey Morty, Hey Mor- *BAAARRRRPPPP* Morty listen, we gotta get the thing, we gotta get the- *BRAAAAPPPP*
>Your mom is cheating on your dad and Morty, we gotta get the scifi dimension alien thing and remember that god isn't real and nothing matters Morty! You're dumb and nothing matters!!!

Stop bumping the thread retards

Speaking of Haruhi..season 4 when?

After season 3

You're basically just telling me you never watched the show and just are repeating memes you read in this site. I don't know what you want me to reply.

I don't find people ignoring the third season, which I though did various aspects better than the first 2 (Endless Eight is a prime example), very nice.

Well this reply >tells me you just are really stupid. Post your MAL so I can PM you there.

That's not me.

I watched seasons 1 and 2 and the first of episode 3 because I have a friend who swears by it. You can whine all you want, but that's what the show boils down to.
>Morty says a dumb thing
>Rick says they need to go to X dimension or world
>Shit gets fucked up
>"It doesn't matter, Morty"
>Cut to shot of the family where the dad is being a retard
>Rick and Morty make it through, Morty thinks Rick is being nice for a second, then one more violent or crude gag
Where's the good writing? Where are the clever the jokes? Random science words and an obsession with branching realities isn't good writing. Or is it not the writing that you like? Do you enjoy the shit art and animation, and voice acting that sounds like someone recorded it on a phone that's 10 years old?

So does it have any character progression or plot continuity? I haven't seen it myself.

Do you actually have autism?

I'm just asking you a question here buddy.

Wait I thought there were only 2 seasons

Well for starters, Jerry (the dad) tries to be the straight man to Rick's antics, but it always fails because Rick doesn't follow the logic of the world Jerry knows, with how hopeless Jerry is to the whole thing some clever moments are derived from this, and sometimes some jokes.

Rick is the most mysterious character, simply because you can't never tell when he's being genuinely nice and when he's pretending to be nice or dick, that's one of the reasons the show is loved, the theories around Rick and when he's being genuine or not.

DUDE GOD ISN'T REAL *BURP* LMAO XD

>Well for starters, Jerry (the dad) tries to be the straight man to Rick's antics,
No, he puts up a retarded argument that instantly gets deflated because he tries to assert his authority, but is just an idiot.

>with how hopeless Jerry is to the whole thing some clever moments are derived from this, and sometimes some jokes.
There is nothing clever about anything you just said, you idiot. This is on the same level as people thinking episode one of Princess Principal was clever or hard to understand.

>The show is good because Rick is sorandumb and I write fanfic about him
Ok, so you're all retards that write fanfic. Got it. Still waiting on that clever writing you're talking up.

Why the FUCK is this thread still up?
sage

>IM PICKLE RIIIICK

How can anime compete WITH GOD TIER WRITING AND art?

> The Rick and Morty japanese anime and manga doesn't have character development
Seeds, Morty.
Existential crisis of all time.
Do you put this seed up your bum or that seed.

You're in for a treat

Why don't they shade?

This show is better than most anime from this season.

I watched all the episodes I just thought they were divided into 2 seasons not 3

So did you not watch season 3 then?

No its not

> "what is my purpose?"
To post in this thread.

No that's light, you would know if you knew anything about art.

posting true american kino

>no that's light
Hitler please.

Seriously. Go watch it right now. I genuinely. Am saying this without sarcasm. Endless Eight was handled really well. It also didn't take eight episodes in season 3.

I mean clever in moments like this:
youtube.com/watch?v=X7HmltUWXgs
Note how Jerry is just playing with a stupid phoneapp while this is going on, the point of the show is that it plays with the concept of life and how it's meaningless.

Nothing to do with the type of cleverness in Princess Principal, they're actually easy to understand, it just plays with the concepts of lies.

What is clever about this? Just a bunch of stereotypes with zero subtlety

>Take a well known science fiction concept (in this case, robots gaining sentience)
>Use it as a throwaway punchline
I don't get it, what's clever about this? Do you know what clever means? There's no depth to the joke to make it clever, and it's not well timed slapstick or a joke with a punchline delivered by a good voice actor. It's all so lazy.

>life and how it's meaningless.
Which is what I said the show harps on before but you claimed it didn't just do that.

I dont really see anything wrong with Pacific Rim. I went in wanting a dumb, action filled movie of giant robots fighting giant monsters and that is what I got.

Give me an example of good writting and I will use your tools to make it "it just boils down to".

>"it just boils down to".
But that wasn't even an exaggeration. I claimed that the butt of all jokes was "nothing matters" to which you literally showed a clip that ended with the punchline "That's all your life is. Welcome to the club." How fucking stupid do you have to be not to see that?

If you use it as a throwaway punchline it gets a theme across without being too forced.

I don't think it has good "writing" because it is episodic and what not, but it has amusing dialogue. It doesn't make me laugh, but neither do other shows.

>Do you ever stop and think that you might be the problem
No friendo, its like you guys have no standards for some of the shit you watch and if you screenshot the catalog you'll find atleast 5 posts talking about loli and high school shit and furthermore the most popular manga/anime ever, weren't composed of bland characters and fan service.

>If you use it as a throwaway punchline it gets a theme across without being too forced.
Not when it's the repeated punchline for every other joke, you fucking idiot. Beating the audience over the head with a single joke is not clever. Developing a "theme" through constantly delivering one liners is not good writing.

I am not that guy but check this out:

Lord of the flies is just "kids are retarded".
Les miserables is just "world is unfair to many".
Hunchback of Notre Dame is just "lust can drive people crazy and people are hypocrites."

Cool, and how many of those develop those ideas through beating you over the head with one off throwaway jokes? Go ahead, I'll wait for a real answer so you can pretend your comparison holds any weight.

When will [adult swim] start showing real anime like Cory in the House again?

If it has a theme I can say "it all boils down to"

If it has no theme I can dismiss it as "lul so randum".

No such thing as good writting.

>you have no standards because you don't watch rick and morty
Laughing at your life buddy.

>Literally can't answer the question
>Literally line breaking every line like those faggots from across the digital pond
I think that's all we need to see. Answer my question directly or fuck off.

Last exit to Sprongfield is regarded as one if not the best episode in the Simpsons but alas, here comes your technique:

It just boils down to Burns confusing Homer's idiocy for intelligence and honesty.

>but a single 20 minute episode of the simpsons can be boiled down the same way a show of 3 seasons can
Christ. Can you stop? I don't care for your opinions. It's just the bullshit you spout that bothers me.

Stop trying to change the subject. You made a post here about these three things
to which I directly responded with this
Now answer the fucking question without moving goalposts or backpedaling.

If you play it like that I asked something first.

>le better than real anime meme

And just like all those other western cartoons like Avatar or Jack theyll languish in obscurity and never foster a worthwhile market or culture despite being 'totes better guys, seriously'

go back to your cancer board

>CitH
>"real" anime

TLA was great though?

You fucking idiot, I said Rick and Morty used one off jokes to beat you over the head with it's poorly developed themes. You responded with three examples of other stories, and I asked which of them used a string of one-off jokes to develop their ideas. Answer the question or fuck off.

Did you have to cite a shitty unrealistic harem anime? You're making OP seem right.

call me reddit but this episode was great

I asked for an example of good writting first. I asked for something first.

Kino's Journey. Now answer my question or kill yourself.

No see. You made the claim. It's not about who asks something first. You started this thread.

Seinfeld really is a classic. Who can forget the episode where George is desperately trying to impress his sempai when Kramer accidentally crushes him with a mecha he hijacked?

Is this the Castlevania thread?

youtube.com/watch?v=de2grEPn7rg

can you stop?

Rick and Morty has such a great soundtrack

youtube.com/watch?v=7bWo2snN5bs

Christ how repetitive. Does it hurt you that much to listen to more music before you make claims about 'great' soundtracks?

I did not.

It just boils down to "the world is not beautiful therefore it is". I asked for good writting.

No, it's the thread that somehow gets ignored for hours while mods make a beeline for Sup Forums-related threads and ignore all the other off-topic garbage that should be in their report queue.

ftfy
>>its like you guys have no standards for some of the shit you watch

>he didn't listen to the bait and switch

>It just boils down to "the world is not beautiful therefore it is". I asked for good writting.
That is the theme, but the delivery is what makes it good. Each story is unique and the delivery of the idea is not one line repeated over and over again. You're an idiot, and trying to parrot my argument doesn't work if you don't understand the crux of my argument.

I didn't listen to it at all. I've heard enough bad voice acting for today.

>he says while consuming another episode of ricky and morty

If it has a theme I will dismiss it as "it is just" and say it is bad. If not I will dismiss it as "it is just random".

Cartoons are far more about high school shit a d waifu faggotry than anime

>still hasn't addressed delivery of themes, which is the most important part of a story
Yeah, people who defend Rick and Morty and retarded.

Now in English, kyle.

Delivery is irrelevant if I can make it simple.
