3D Printed Guns

It's been 5 years since this was created. Where are we now, and where are we going.

Has the Genie been put back into the bottle or just forgotten?

It sucks balls.

Like all of 3d printing it's fucking pointless. If you can afford a 3d printer you can afford a real gun.

They break before they get even halfway through a magazine. Total shit.

It's a cool project with no real world use.

Hey, guys, let's post stuff the feds want to know about on a board they waste all their time on!!!

If you’re stuck on a space station in the future it’ll kill a hue. That’s about it.

stupid idea since machining produces a better result with similar cost tooling.

youtube.com/watch?v=-_ayHfaHCXQ

Who cares when you can build a slapgun from hardware store miscellany.

>If you’re stuck on a space station in the future it’ll kill a hue. That’s about it.
Kek

Shit movie.

Its a shit platform. Its only purpose was as a protest. If we can print guns there is no use banning them.
After the big gun control waves got shot down they stopped being so important

It's a huge deal for Europeans since getting a gun here is already hard, and they're trying to push laws to make it even harder.

Use a metal pipe and you can get 2-10x muzzle velocity even out of home made muzzle loaded lead balls. 3D printing guns is over rated bullshit. This you just push together real hard and it fires shotgun shells. Anyone can make one with parts from home depot for less than $10. And it's much easier to conceal, much more powerful, lasts forever, and doesn't raise any suspicious when you buy it.

FOSSCAD has a twitter account that posts the innovations made. There's the Shuty 9mm pistol, it uses a commercial barrel and metal parts though. Yoshito Imura has continued his revolver designs and has output many new zigzag cylinder-type guns.
twitter.com/fosscad
There's some pretty interesting designs, all mostly single shot or gun parts that don't constitute a whole. For example, there's a Vz. 61 receiver print out there which works well for us in the US because Vz. 61 receivers cost nearly as much as the whole kit. It's one of the better guns to print a receiver for.

Plastic guns are just (poor) paperweights, and metal 3D printers are still extremely rare and expensive, and even then all they can do is create pot metal guns unfit for firing live rounds safely anyway.
Forget about expensive 3D printing, those guns turn to mush after a few shots either way. Just build your own with common tools like the Chechens did.
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Borz

It's harder to get a 3D printer than it is to get a gun.
Also ammo.

Yeah, I didn’t hate it as much as everyone else seems to though. If they didn’t shoe horn the Cloverfield nonsense into it...the film still would have been shit but not as frustrating.

Sorry, my 3D printer was lost in a boating accident

It's not pointless to make a cheap gun.

Checked and keked

1 3d printer and you can print as many copies as you want.

With what materials? That costs money too.

is the 3d print eternal? does it not require mantainance?

>make shitty gun that lasts 5 or 6 shots
>ambush enemy troops while they're alone and take their better weapons
>can now fight enemy troops on a more equal footing.
I wonder how it is with making 30 round magazines?

buy ghost gunner 2 from ghostgunner.net

buy billet aluminum 80% ar-15 lower for $65

make unserialized gun at home (if you live in CA, you need to serialize it, faggot)

buy rest of parts at a gun show for cash

you have a completely untraceable ar-15

What a bunch of fucking brainlets in this thread. This tech is advancing every day.

New filaments are being released every day. New model printers get better with every release.

Right now we’re in an era akin to dot-matrix paper printers. Look how far photo printers have come.

The designs for the weapons themselves keep getting better too.

Before you know it you will be able to print a reliable gun

Before you know it you will be able to print an Arsenal

Right now I can go start printing copies of several guns on the web and just never stop. I’ll fill my whole room full of one shot guns and in the future I’ll print a Gatling gun or a A10 to put it in

The point isn't that it's a good gun. The point is it makes guns physically impossible to ban.

You guys are severely short sighted on this one

Plastic is a poor material to make guns from, and 3d printers a poor technology to build them in bulk.

They are an excellent way to make untracable custom die-cast moulds for machine parts, though, which can then be used to assemble secret gun factories.

Thas was the idea of the libertator pistols, you only use it to kill an unaware nazi, now you have his real weapon.

it is an useful technology with some useful applications, also a nice toy. but that's it

its certainly NOT the magic technology everyone assumes it to be, even if it were perfected to its maximum theoretical limi theres still tons of things that need traditional techniques

For under $5000 you can buy a CNC router that mills metal components, and have a real gun.
youtube.com/watch?v=HffKdD3pP9g

only answer
even a 3d printed gun still needs a metal barrel
Europeans have to start getting weapons asap

3d printer + this would make for a complete weapon factory, besides bullets

It failed as a proof of concept, as a gun, and as a political statement. Better firearms can be constructed with pipes and sheetmetal from the hardware store. The only people that keep pushing the 3d printing nonsense are people that haven't used one. They make things that are good for mockups, to test fitment/ergonomics, and cheap bullshit dioramas to get VC's to throw money at you. Just don't let them handle your "prototype."

the liberator was really unreliable, you really don't want to be shooting it if you can help it.

Printing a gun with a 3d printer itself is stupid.
BUT if you print up the metal mold to make the parts for the gun, well now you are doing things right. Hell get a CNC machine to make the molds.
Molds are the key to making good quality objects, the 3d printer is just good for making the molds.

>he thinks the Feds give a fuck about 4chinz
Oh please honey, the only thing pol is good at is taking credit for what twitter does.

You can build a gun with 3/4 pipe and a nail mate.
They just made this thing to scare faggots and try and get this tech banned

how to get bullets?

youtube.com/watch?v=D43ZeYu9dnM

good thing it was almost never used, and instead the glorified "french resistance" simply stockpiled them, thinking that after the Nazi occupation their particular group would take over.

People don't want to have to reload after every shot.

3D printing is arguably protected under the first amendment (freedom of press)

...

why the fuck was theh disembodied arm still alive and even conscious? that bit made absolutely no sense even in the frame of the rest of the movie...after that i was really just watching it because i love sci fi but yeah a total garbage film

??? wats this

Yeah I'm sure the feds have never seen, heard of, or experimented with 3D printers before. Keep it secret guys.

It's a fun switch
You could go to prison for a very long time for having too much fun with this

Full auto for AR

A10?
as in the braaaaaaap plane?
nigger when that shit can be printed theres not gonna be a refugee crisis anymore :D

That shit will fuck up and the bullet trajectory will end up hitting you in the nuts. Fuck that thing

...

Lightning link. Think of it as an autosear, but from what I've been told a bit sketchy.

A lightning link.
Its placed into the lower receiver to function a ar15 as a fully automatic.

If you arent wearing 12inch thick leather gloves, enjoy your fucked up hands.

Whos gonna stop you?

Can one actually become wealthy selling guns like this?

Damn dude when I was like 13 years old we could make money mowing lawns and buy all the shit we needed to make zip guns. Some of them got pretty close to good, even, with sights, trigger mechanisms and stocks. Hand tools and .22 caliber bullets. I guess getting the bullets would be hard but don't print a gun, buy some brake line, yeesh.

nice, we need to weaponize white europeans

...

the hard part is getting the bullets, not the gun.

youtube.com/watch?v=-_ayHfaHCXQ

Pretty good. Gun Control is dead.

3d print them.

Tell me about it. We are sitting ducks. We could have killed all of those migrant invaders a few years ago, easily, but without guns, we are powerless.

Don't do this. It has bitcoin mine virus.

lol

Our right to bare arms is protected by the constitution too. And leftists are clamoring over themselves to get rid of both

Don't do this, you will get a virus.

youtu.be/zJyf1IrHtcE
They are shit, all right

you dumb fuck! you 3d print it with low melt material and then cast it with harder material, you fucking moron! also it's not hard to make a gun out of pipes bought at the hardware store, do us a favor moron and neck yourself

You can cast them with some pretty easy tools, the problem is making everything standard. If you have the capability and knowhow to cast and make bullets, chances are making a repeating rifle ain't too hard

This.
3D printed guns are a fucking joke. The barrel and breech can never be strong enough to be practical.

Buy a cnc and make metal guns.

fosscad.org

Its not. But here's every 3D printed gun file.

Allows you to bypass the id lock on the 3d printed gun

Wouldn't upgrading an airgun be 100 times easier and cheaper?

Plastic is not durable enough to handle the rapid-fire and heat.

>The barrel and breech can never be strong enough to be practical.
They became practical in 2014- a year after they were first introduced.

Motherfucker, do you understand how much and how finicky that printer is?

youtube.com/watch?v=UvrRUmIYvMU
Don't bother they're stupid.

This makes mustard gas.

traditional machining and reductive cnc is still where it's at. Metal just makes good sense
Fun fact: The Zodiac Copycat killed all his victims with DIY/zip guns.

what you are describing is assembling a bullet.
youtube.com/watch?v=OfhpaRO38Es

You mean those shitty things that can only fire a few (inaccurate) rounds before they're fucked?
No thanks.

I can see how a Swedish taxpaying citizen couldn't get a gun because of all the laws, but it doesn't seem too hard to get across your borders so wouldn't it be a LOT easier if you were a recently-arrived African or Middle-Eastern migrant, with contacts back home?

The implications are that the technology becomes cheaper overtime and better. One push of a button, print a gun.

Right but see the thing is, most guys collect spent brass and reload. Now what if you need to actually COLLECT BRASS, like fittings, doorknobs, candlesticks, liquefy them, and cast bullets like that? Best answer is to stock up like a madman now, don't waste time trying to establish a foundry, stick to reloading.

Nah, just use socialism.

the dude in the video starts talking about this at ~5min.
you also need primer and gun powder.

Why are you fucking shills spamming this board all day with this shit? We are onto you faggot

a 3d printed gun that can only fire a couple of shots inaccurately is better than no gun that can fire no shots at all.
Dont knkow what its like in australia jr but here in blighty theres some serious hoops to jjump through to get a firearms license, and for thhose saying its better to make one from metal pipes....well, not every body knows how but downloading a file and clicking print seems pretty idiot proof.
Dosnt reallly bother me either way, ive got a pretty nice composite bow that i could kill a man at 60 feet with and chances are here in britain hes not gonna be armed, so 60 foot is more than enough.
lets just hope society doesnt devolve to the point where i need to actually put this to the test.

yeah you don't need the bedspace of a router, a mini mill CNC would do lots of stuff, but take a long ass time.

we just got one of these at uni. its called metal sintering.. its the same process as 3d printing sept with real metal.. its only a matter of time before someone managed to scale it down and make it suitable for the home...

youtube.com/watch?v=rEfdO4p4SFc&ab_channel=Eng.RamiKhalil

>better
Not with firearms. No additive process can improve on machined. Faster, less expensive, yes. Not better. Can't be done. Even if a perfect additive alloy was made, it would still be better machined.

Not as much as you think. I've had mine for about 4 years now and it's still running strong.

You can make a rifling button with a hand file but then you need a shop press to press it through a tube.

Get with the times, its no longer 2013 where there only is single shot 3D printed guns. Its 2018 with 3D printed guns that approaches major manufacturer quality.

the problem is not with making a gun.
it's getting bullets.
