>first anime
SonicX 4kids dub, Jetix, whatever year it was airing
>first real anime
Lucky Star, YouTube, 2010

After lucky star I also watched Haruhi on YouTube. First and second anime I saw was the weebiest fucking shit and somehow I ended up here with moe/otaku stuff as my least favorite genres.

>yfw 10 years from now some fucking kid will say Kobayashi-san on Twitch Presents

Fuck off

On TV pokemon, was 5
By myself Death Note, was 18

>first anime
DBZ and Pokemon on CheezTV
>first LEGIT anime
Cowboy Bebop on SBS

And nobody will care except for you.

First: pokemon as well
First Real: D gray man ~2007
Unironically on youtube

No one cares about your little blogs

what's this guy talkin about?

Inyasha 2004 aswell, are you from Australia ?

Heidi, Girl of the Alps on some local austrian channel

no, i'm canadian. we can be commonwealth buddies though

Don't remember. It was either Full Metal Panic, Berserk or Trigun. Right around the 2000s.
They kinda set the tone for what I would like in anime.

Dominion Tank Police, sometime in the early 90s.

first childhood animes
Pokemon, Yugioh, One Piece, Yu Yu hakusho

first non dubbed anime would be
Love Hina

dbz, toonami, early 2000s

>animes
kill yourself

>first anime
Ranma 1/2 on a fansub VHS tape (thanks to my older cousin). The year was sometime in the late 80's or early 90's.

a pre internet fansub, upload it if you still got it, thats interesting

On TV, Evangelion, Utena and Lain.
On my own, Durarara.

I knew that was the bionix disclaimer before I could even read what it said.

Having to sit through the last few minutes of Gundam SEED was always a pain.

Question for you OP, did you grow up in Ontario or was YTV/Bionix on air across Canada?

I live in montreal, we get it here, i do believe it's nationwide though.

>first anime
Probably DBZ back in the late 90s on Toonami
>first real anime
TTGL in Spring of 2014 at my roommate's recommendation on CR
I didn't start daily watching until I saw War in the Pocket and 0079 around 10 months ago, though.

came across this recorded on vhs, guess it counts as anime

I think the first one I saw was Starzinger, probably in '88 or '89.

First anime I saw knowing it was anime and all that was probably Akira in 2000.

probably early 2000

I've always wondered. Inuyasha and a bunch of other YTV/teletoon shows were dubbed out in Vancouver so I figured they'd be shown in one way or another across Canada.

>oh jeeze that pic

I saw sugar on a single episode of some global or CBC soap opera a few years ago as I was channel surfing. Just as squeaky and nasaly as before, clearly still waiting for her big break.

I wonder what Carlos is doing with his life.

First anime: 3,000 Leagues in Search of Mother (1996; barely out of kindergarten)

First real anime: ...same as above?

dude.. he's still on ytv.
he doesnt look much older either, it's weird.

>first anime: Dragon Ball Z, I'd like to say funimation dub because that's all I can hear when I think of it, but it was probably oceanic, this was during the late 90s, I don't fucking remember it was on TV.

>first real anime, year: I first started getting into anime by watching the original Dragon Ball, then of course I re-watched all of Z. I then watched Tri-Gun and Outlaw Star, along with Cowboy Bebop. This was all around 2006ish. I remember my friend getting me into Gurren Lagann around that time also.

>I didn't line break
>it's all in green-text
Well, whoops.

>CheezTV
Muh nigga

Wow. Either he's got a passion for providing quality children's programming during intermission (that no child is actually gonna watch because they are glued to their smartphones the whole time anyways) or he's got some mad Tenure/union shit going on.

>Ocean Dub

I'm still sad Kirby Morrow didn't get to make it big as being the English voice of goku, he's far more talented than Sean.

it can't be that hard of work, just a few hours shooting all the bits in the morning, and that's that.
i'd stick with it as long as i could too.

Escaflowne on MTV or RTL II, can't remember exactly. I just remember not knowing just what the hell was going on and wondering why everyone had such weird noses (which i've since then come to appreciate)

First "anime" was yugioh and other crap on cheez TV/toasted TV

First "real anime" I watched was Darker than Black

might have been Dragon Ball during the very early 90s or very late 80s.

>First anime
Tanoshii Moomin Ikka, dubbed TV broadcast, somewhere around 96-98.

>First "real anime"
Digimon Adventure 02, subbed TV Broadcast, 2004 or 2005

>DBZ, Cartoon Network, 98

>Gurren Lagann, TV Tokyo, 07

First anime I watched was death note. I watched it subbed. It was 2,5 years ago. Then I watched it again, dubbed. After that I started watching more anime. Pic related (imgur.com/a/o7SRf) is a chronological list of shows i watched up to this day (The scores don't matter on that pic). Also, whenever an anime has a dub, I watch the dub because I fucking hate you people.

Last Exile, G4TechTV Christmas Day 2004 marathon.

>first anime
Pokemon 4kids edition, 1999 or 2000 (I was 4-5 at that time)

>first real anime
I watched Naruto and Death Note on streams, but it was either FMA:B or Code Geass that started my downfall into degeneracy

Sailor Moon/Evangelion on TV around 1996.

I watched pokemon and dbz back when they wern't censored on tv. I'd say my first real anime was the original Berserk. That shit blew my mind. Animevore ever since.
P.s In the siege where guts fights Zodd the immortal, there's a soldier that is the voice actor for goku! Fuck I cracked up when I heard it. (English dub btw)

>First Anime
Frankly I'd probably be better off asking myself what my first western cartoons were than my first anime because anime has always been on local TV,

Love Hina in 2002 or 2003. Downloaded all the subbed episodes from kazaa/limewire.

>first anime
One of the world masterpiece theater shows, TV, around 1995

>real anime
Wtf is unreal anime. Avatar and Wakfu?

>First Anime
Dragon Ball, some late night anime program in Canada, 2002
>First REAL Anime
Berserk (1997), off a DVD burn my older brother made for me. I want to say around 2004?

>there's a soldier that is the voice actor for goku!
In the episode, where guts returns, one of the soldiers is voiced by Yugi's english voice actors. The Goku voice actor also shows up in that scene iirc.

>First Anime: Pokemon (1998)
>Where: I don't remember I was 4 years old
>First "Real" Anime: Subbed Speed Racer VHS my dad had (1999)

>first anime

Pokemon or DBZ.

>first real anime

The first anime I actively sought out and finished from start to end was School Days .

HOLD ON NOW.

Do you guys really count stuff they threw on saturday morning kids blocks to be 'first anime'?

The grand amount of this board would say DBZ or Pokemon.

I feel like a first anime is the one you seek out that doesn't have an english release yet.

Mine would have been RahXephon in 2001 either way.

Did you not read OP's post enough to see the second category that talks about exactly what you just said

I am typing on a braille keyboard, reading my braille computer monitor takes my a minute, sorry about that.

Looking from the perspective recommendation from Sup Forums turned out to be pretty good.

First was Pokemon back in late 90s.

First "real" anime was Keroro Gunso in like 2006 I think?

199X
Voltron/Saber Rider/MA MA MA MA~ MA MA MACHRON I!, can't recall which exactly as they ran at around the same time.

youtube.com/watch?v=Ve7z6mJb4n8

Yes, in catalan.

>first anime
The Mysterious Cities of Gold, 1989
>first real anime
If above doesn't count, then:
Patlabor the Movie on Space: the Imagination Station ~1997

First anime: DB in 1995 on national tv
First real anime: see above.

Attack on Titan

>Mongatari series
>2015 on some streaming site after my friend recommended it to me

first anime: Robotech (inb4 Robotech is not anime)
aired on Super Channel somewhere in 1988 or 87
Voltron was aired almost the same time
and various shit from the World Masterpiece Theater series are all over on every national TV channel in Europe back then

>First anime
Yu-Gi-Oh dub probably, 2002-ish
>First real anime
Toonami dubs, started using subs when I got into Miyazaki films through my dad because even little me could tell the dub and the subtitles weren't matching up.

I dont remember the name. It was in german dub and the main character's name was Sasuke. He was a kid training under some old guy. It was mostly him carrying buckets of water until he could use magic to shoot a fireball. Either nineties or eighties anime.

Later came pokemon and dbz, then Noir, Inu Yasha and Golden Boy. Fond memories with Lupin III as well.

>First anime
High school of the dead, on Netflix, in 2011.

about a month before my first Sup Forums post

>>first real anime
Define real anime.

Whatever you haven't watched

First anime was probably DBZ or Samurai Pizza Cats on syndication in the mid-90s. By real anime I'm guessing you mean something I knew was anime and initially checked out for that reason, probably Gundam wing on Toonami.

Doraemon
Gundam Wing

>first anime
Pokemon, DBZ, CC Sakura

>first "real" anime
Houshin Engi on Locomotion. Can't wait for the remake.

Must you fucking Leafs ruin everything?

>first anime
Sailor Moon
>first real anime
Neon Genesis Evangelion, on Google video

>first anime
Sailor Moon DiC dub on whatever network it aired on Saturday mornings in the USA.
>first real anime
Neon Genesis Evangelion, 2010, on some streaming site I can't remember my first year in college.

>first anime
Pokemon, 1998, whatever TV channel was showing it after school in the UK.
>first real anime
Rozen Maiden, 2005, some torrent site. I wanted to know where the desu meme came from. It's still one of my favourites.

>first anime
Probably one of these back in mid-90's: The Genie Family, The Wonderful Adventures of Nils, Ox Tales, Moomin

>First real anime
Probably one of these back in 2003 on my computer: Rockman. EXE, Inuyasha, Shaman King, Ranma

Would have to be either Maya the Bee or The Wonderful Wizard of Oz back when I was little.

Probably any anime from the World Masterpiece Theater series, thanks German TV.
youtube.com/watch?v=pt_xUyJca-s
I liked this intro more than the Jp one.

First one was either a Lupin movie or Hokuto no Ken on TV.
Years later I tried watching SAC but gave up after 3 episodes, then watched Paprika, both snatched via torrents.

>first anime
Speed Racer or G-Force
>first real anime
original Ranma 1/2 ova

Attack on Titan
Kissanime
2014

my first time was with attack on titan then i moved to jewels like cowboy beop and naruto, right now currently watching one piece and dragon ball super (i still need to watch dbz but i dont watch old shit from 90s) but what really turned me into a real otaku was sword art online.

i think i watched like 10 total animes and i think its a pretty good hobby to pass time with my girlfriend plus i dont need to liste nto that japanese bullshit since it gets dubbed to english fast

what was your favorite animes guys?

>Maya the Bee
>Local TV
>Kindergarten, maybe even earlier. So around 2001.

I know we were heavy into Pokemon by the time last year of kindergarten came around.

>First Anime: the original Pokemon

>first real anime: (if this implies I enjoyed it thoroughly) then Kill La Kill (If not) Then Dragonball

>first anime: naruto, shaman king and sonicx, jetix russian dub
>first real anime: akira dub, around 4 years ago

fucking oreimo

then.. why didnt you do it?

Guyver OVA series (watched around 2003-4)

My brother owned the vhs tapes so I use to swipe them and watch them when I was younger.

>first anime
sailor moon used to watch it with my cousin who I later figured out was just an early shut in weeb
>first real anime
I'd consider sailor moon pretty real but other than that probably slayers would have been the next major thing I watched

iGoogle was fun

>first anime: pokemon dub/yugioh/digimon/beyblade/medabots/dbz etc. When I stayed up at night I would catch elfen, escaflowne, inuyasha, eureka seven, FMA, Gundam wing
>first anime I streamed/watched in sub: Naruto. I don't remember the first non shounen that I watched, it must have been some memetier shit I saw on here, maybe Death note

>First anime
Maya the Bee
>First real anime
Evangelion on TV
First anime I watched on my own was Gundam Wing on youtube

pokemon
