I disagree.

You're entitled to, beaner. You're incorrect though.

No doubt about it.

I'm so salty that every bookstore I go to has Ranma 1/2 and Inuyasha and nearly every other work by Takehashi, but no Urusei Yatsura anywhere unless you go to a specialty book shop and bust out some big bucks.

The threads surely show it.

comparing gimmicky garbage with gimmicky garbage

rumiko takahashi doesn't know how to write a narrative at all. she just adds more gimmiks every season until there's so many characters it's ridiculous

not to mention lack of character development

personally I think ranma 1/2 is better because it has a gimmick you can do slightly more with
other than that they're both garbage

Yeah, Ranma 1/2 having worst girl as main love interest is it's biggest flaw

Which is the best episode? And why it's this?

If you think Lum had no character development then you e never watched it.

The real question is: Is Urusei Yatsura better than Maison Ikkoku?, I can't really answer that myself.

That's an objective fact

This person has never seen a single episode of UY.
I say this because UY had some of elements Ranma had and more. Ranma 1/2 was too much of a DBZ parody, they learn new fight technique and train one episode and it happens over and over again.

>moronic fat greek is posting on Sup Forums now
Marvelous.

No.
Maison Ikkoku is the best Takahashi work and one of the best romances in the anime medium.
Urusei Yatsura is a fun show with great art direction, but it cannot compare to MI where it counts.

gurren lagann reference, oshii confirmed for bro

Why do you form and spew opinions on a show you clearly have never seen? Have you got nothing better to do?

Would you?

Are there any torrents of the bluray movies that aren't dead? I only see the dvd rips

Because bluray is inferior. That said, no one fucking seeds the first movie. Fucking please.

>Bluray
>Inferior

This is what the bluray of the movies would look like. Is that what you want?

Oh forgive me, i didnt see you said movie, yeah the bluray of the first movie is abysmal.
Sorry user.

It's okay. I forgot my picture anyway.

>bluray of the first movie is abysmal
So that wasn't just me then? I swear the audio quality was garbage compared to the dvd version

Why

Blurays are cropped to fit the widescreen format and the first movie's BD was censored.

Maison Ikkoku is an actually good manga and not the 'it's so comfy xd' bullshit that she usually pumps out (UY, R1/2, IY)

You are an idiot.

What was the best OVA and why was it Catch the Heart?

>Smiling Oyuki

How could I not?

haha us ironic weebs amirite

Am I missing anything?

...

I wish we still had protagonists like Ataru.

Wrong.

Nobody cares what dumb spics like you have to say.

Do you have a list of the scenes that were taken out from the bluray release of movie 1?

youtube.com/watch?v=xlGYJtude3U

Turn your monitor ON haha

Lum is tsunsexual.

Would you watch a modern reboot of Urusei Yatsura ala Osomatsu-san?

>Would you watch a modern reboot of Urusei Yatsura ala Osomatsu-san?

No. Because it would just devolve into all the female characters either being turned into lesbos or Ataru's shirt-chasing being downplayed to the point it only happens in a single episode, before Ataru become a complete background character to Lum, who gets a massive harem because fujoshit pandering.

.. the alternate path is much worse, where Rumiko has complete control and has the new series religiously follow the manga. Considering how Rin-ne feels practically soulless, despite being on its third season, I wouldn't want to see a reboot of any of Rumiko's classic series, probably with the exception of the Mermaid series: but only as a series of stand-alone high-budget OVAs.

reminder (male) lum is superior in every way

No she just doesn't want a fake it's not like she likes being rejected.

It has to be the correct rejection. She's tag champion of the Onis, just winning isn't any fun.

I agree.

That one was great.
You know what would be great for the next anniversary? A series on new OVAs, just 5-12 episodes, that are made to be as similar to actual episodes as possible. The thing about the 2008 OVA was that they tried to cram all the big elements of the show, every recurring character they could, into one episode. And it was terrible.
Who agrees?

it's funny how much people care about narrative structure in never-ending serialized comedy shows. how about "the overarching plot doesn't matter in these types of shows, just enjoy the action and jokes and 80s animation you fucking nerds"

It's less "narrative structure is important in episodic comedy" and more "Takehashi could be a way better writer than she is is almost every way". It's annoying to see shit that feigns progress yet otherwise falls back on repetitive bullshit that was old and unfunny from the start, and she does it every time.

Kek, I posted "Ranma 1/2 is better than UY" in another thread yesterday and OP was so butthurt he went and made this thread.

So I went ahead and took a look at the first movie, and it looks like about eleven and a half minutes were cut between 11 different spots within the first 30 or so minutes

What

Well that's like your opinion, bro.

Sora no Otoshimono was like that, although Tomoki was nowhere near as sleazy as Ataru. Hell, the entire series was majorly influence by UY
If you're interested, just read the manga. The first season was good, second season made alot of changes, and the movies are some of the only pieces of media to elicit pure anger from me

Am I the only one who prefers the dub

Subs still great though

I somewhat agree, but only because my biggest gripe was how the art was handled. A handful of scenes looked great, but most all of it looked awful

Name a single thing good about this faggot
It's literally impossible

What was Takahashi thinking?

user stop being a tard, it's clearly a JoJo reference

Good to bully

She wasn't

He's great, you're just jelly.

I didn't think it was possible for one character to be more hateable than the whole collective of Ataru's friends
I was wrong

Go back to Ramu before I shove dry ice down your throat, Ten

Dragged out misunderstandings is not good romance, faggot.

This guy makes UY threads at least once a week. He's just a big UYfag. I can't blame him, so am I.

He's hilarious. I love the little bastard.
I wouldn't want to actually know him, though.

Are there even places where UY is actively discussed? (I won't take reddit for an answer)

His mom, damn I wish she appeared for more than one episode.

you and me both

>lumfags are more obnoxious than ranmafags in every way

Here. Other than that, probably Japanese forums and a few extremely slow forums and IRCs.
She appeared in, like, three or four.

Lum-san is mai waifu.

You and me both, Megane.
