What is the point of hoarding anime or manga when you will never rewatch and reread it? You won't sell it either. So why do you hoard it? If you hoard it to share and seed, that's understandable. But this is Sup Forums, and no one does that here.

Nothing.

Soon you will be enlightened and join the elite streamer club and forgo downloading all together.

If a person is an actual hoarder, then it's inherently irrational.

Once the apocalypse happens and all animu disappears from the internet.

You won't sell it and you won't use it.

>You won't sell it
We'll see about that then.

Sup Forums are like dragon. Dragon are mythical so we will never know.

This.
I have enough anime, manga and light novels to last me 5 years. I figure I will just shoot myself once I'm out.

I like archiving everything I've seen, I do rewatch shows from time to time too. Granted there are shows I've finished that I wasn't that big on so I doubt I'll rewatch those.

I rewatch my stuff. You don't rewatch your stuff? Sometimes I make funny webms too.

i rewatch anime all the time. just about finishing rewatch of log horizon now (no recreators and virgin souls past 2 weeks has created a bit of a gap in my viewing schedule). though i don't buy anime or manga in the first place (not even a crunchy sub), so it's only my time i waste with my (digital) hoarding

So that I could rewatch with my future gf.

>Rail wars

>If you hoard it to share and seed, that's understandable.
>But this is Sup Forums, and no one does that here.
>when you will never rewatch and reread it
Way to start with retarded assumptions like that.
Sure there might be some works that anons won't rewatch but considering the storage sizes and prices that's a non issue.

>I figure I will just shoot myself once I'm out.
5 Years is quite a long time. You could easily rewatch them at least one more time.

It's fun

I enjoyed the trains.

when op admits they don't rewatch or reread and reveals their own extremely low power level

I do rewatch and reread it though. And it's because someday easy access to this stuff might not be possible. You take the internet for granted.

this is a legitimate fear of mine and I only have a 2TB external HDD for hoarding

It was a stupid but fun show. Doubt I'll rewatch it at any point.

This.
OP has outed himself.

Why would anyone rewatch anime?
Most anime has braindead, forgettable plot and characters. Rewatching the "good ones" only makes sense if you do it after months or years, and even then, they lose their charm since you already know whats going to happen.

>why do people collect things?
if you can then why not? what a silly question

>projecting your own dislike of anime onto other people
I enjoy watching anime and I rewatch series I love all the time. In fact I just recently rewatched TTGL and Bakemonogatari, finished the latter last weekend.

Rail Wars had some great backstory

It was a chest full of surprises.

this

I've got multiple RSS feeds downloading automatically images from my favourite artists, and anime.

Have a 6tb completely full of anime, and another one I'm working on.

anime series are always tied up with my life at the point when i watched them. they're a part of my memory and i rewatch them to figure things out or just remember how it was at the time.

everyone has their own way of keeping track of their life. anime is a large part of that process for me.

That's a good point, but I'm poor, so if some day I'm out of internet I'll just rewatch whatever I want.

Having to juggle between full on 1080p animes and the ever increasing file size of video games nowadays is torture.

>Anime, manga, and merch are the currency of the apocalyptic world
How rich would you be, anons?

>not buying external HDs

>he missed the sale on 8tb WD reds
>didn't get one for $160
Step your game up.

I just started watching/hoarding anime so probably would just last a week max.

Bought three already, 2 of them 2 TB and 1 of them is 1 TB.... and my budget is not getting any better.

Why did none of you help rebuild Nyaa by re-seeding then?

>no one does that here
My friends often ask me to lend them my HDDs full of anime and hentai. If you have a good taste you can influence your environment and teach your friends that anime isn't only Naruto and Attack on Titan.

I would if I could.

We need to open a hole in a mountain and store all of it in there like the seed storage.

I save it to seed, especially if it has only a few seeds and I also like keeping the source for edits and memes.

>you will never rewatch and reread it

Why would you assume that?

>implying I don't seed
>implying that I don't share whenever I get anything rare
Hell I bought the Big Order BDs just because no-one had uploaded them to nyaa yet.

This but I saved most of exh loli stuff instead of anime.

You really didn't need to do that user. Seriously.

it's a collecting hobby. Why does anyone collect anything? Most will never sell it nor will be "play" with it.

>when you will never rewatch and reread it?
But I did

>HEVC releases get zero seeds
>stuck downloading bloated 1080p files at 5x the filesize

HEVC barely effects the file sizes of good quality high bitrate releases anyway. The major gains are seen at low bitrates.

>No one rewatches it and reread it.
That's your weakness OP. A lot of people do rewatch anime series that they like and re-reads the Mangas and LNs, VNs, they like. Don't think that we're the same.

dumb kizuna ai poster

That's sad even for a lonely man as you

Oh, OP, the Kizuna ai meme youre using, I uploaded it yesterday, I'm glad to see it spread in Sup Forums but atleast change the name you lazy fuck so that I can post it too.(1502355328461.jpg)

>they lose their charm since you already know whats going to happen.
I'm in the minority on this one, but I think it's pretty sad that you need to be constantly surprised to enjoy a creative work. Particularly with anime, there's so much going on on screen that I can't fathom caring about whether you know how the story ends.

There won't be electricity

What is solar/wind power?

>12% are the odds that, by 2022, a solar flame could wipe out earth's power grid
I don't even want to think about it.

Chance is, you'll hear about it days, or at least 12 hours before it actually occurs. Maybe more if you're lucky. Start looking for one of these boxes that protect tech from EMPs, and put your HDD/SSD/whatever storage you're using inside. You may not have a computer at hand, but at least you have the files. That's what matters.
You may also insert a tablet or a phone that can handle a 128 GB SD card, and place some more cards inside the box as well. They're relatively cheap these days, so you'll have loads of anime in an area no bigger than your thumb. Of course, you could buy a larger flash drive and use an OTG cable to connect it with the mobile device, but the SD card storage way takes up less area, even though it's messy.
You'll be charging your phone/tablet with a solar charger. Watching anime on such a small screen may suck, but these devices are a lot more energy efficient than...say, a laptop.
Oh, and be sure to install CM/LineageOS, or at least root your device and get a root-capable file manager just in case you need to do some adjustments to the OS. Install F-Droid, too, as you'll be able to share FOSS apps with strangers that use it, too.

I didn't really have to know this.
Gee, thanks user.

WD Reds are shit and have been shit for years, they are a line of 5400 RPM NAS drives that somehow manage to have between 2x-6x higher failure rate compared to a similar sized HGST 7200 RPM NAS drive.

Holy shit please leave and never return

This, actually, and just because I sometimes get the itch to rewatch some old anime I enjoy and I'm afraid I won't be able to find them (easily) again in the future, much like I don't want to put in the effort today into finding some place to find old anime.

>not owning a fully stacked HGST 4U60
Do you even archive, senpai?

I am creating my own seed storage for apocalypse. So, that 1000 years later humanity will watch them and know about anime.

There is literally NO reason to watch "1080p" anime.

How hard were you hit by nyaa dying and bakaBT going private?
>Hitachi
God-fucking tier. I have a model from around 2005, it's around 250 GB. Not much by today's standards, but I've been using it daily, and each time I hear about some guy's HDD failing I feel good about myself. Honestly, that thing is built like a fucking tank.
I also take proper care of my computer, too, so that may also help.

>1080p anime
>"animes"
>hurr durr video games
Whoa boy. Sup Forums is ever so bad at blending in.

Why rewatch when there's 1000 more anime you haven't seen?

Now that Japan is finished soon, thanks to North Korea, what will guys watch?

>thinks that 0.6 mbps is bad
m8

if you don't hoard porn, anime pics and music, you're doing it wrong

Please seed your anime. It's just common courtesy to do so. Don't want to find another anime missing from the internet then do your part and seed.

I guess this is just a thinly-veiled "I'm a filthy streamer. Please accept my degeneracy." thread.

That may be the case, but personally I'm limited by my storage, so I delete anything I deem "unworthy". Even I archive some stuff, but I can't just keep everything I've ever watched. It's not that I'm opposed to the concept of archival - I just can't do it. I don't insult archivers and I actually defend them - they may do it just to serve themselves - possibly so they have something to entertain themselves when their internet goes down, but they also benefit the torrent community a lot by seeding old content.

What do you mean "What is the point?" Why do you make it sound so negative? I hoard by buying the damn BD's because I'm not paying a monthly service to watch shit quality/encoding and censorship. (i.e. Jojo.) and I do it to support the industry I love.

>you will never rewatch and reread it
That's you, dum/b/ass, not us.

Now get out, and never ever return.

It's not like it's much work to keep some files saved.

I'm a nature photographer; about half the content on my HDD are photos. I do keep some anime that will be entertaining on rewatches, but usually I delete it as soon as I'm done with it. There's not much you can do with a quarter terabyte.

I heard my HDs go bad if I leave them empty. Something about empty sector decay (ESC). Dunno if anime protects it though.

Why is every Kizuna Ai image attached to a very dumb post

because it's fun user

I lost almost everything in a hard drive crash two years ago and just gave up.
I just delete anything I really don't want in the future. It's not worth it anymore.

What a fucking mindset. That's like avoiding cooking just because you might get burned. Avoiding starting friendships because you're afraid of them ending. Avoiding romantic endeavours because you're afraid of them ending badly.

I'm a paranoid prepper so I have terabyte upon terabyte of anime, books, manga, live action shows and movies, music, and video games saved along with sustainable energy production in case shit hits the fan.

>Streaming is the same as downloading and deleting

Fuck off brainlet

I'm a professional photographer and I earn 60k to 150k depending on my contracts and I'm in Europe so I don't get much to do. How come you're stuck with 250gb? 4TB is $100.

>Have three backups
>Main drive crashes
>Get replacement
>First backup crashes
>Uh oh
>Second backup crashes
>Uh oh
>Third backup crashes

You see, hard drives cost a lot of money if you hoard things. Or you can live on the edge and not use a backup.
