Instead of all the shounen or action live action adaptations, why don't we get a western live action Welcome to the NHK?

Instead of all the shounen or action live action adaptations, why don't we get a western live action Welcome to the NHK?

>easy to adapt and you don't need a big budget
>Burgers would relate more to Satou's plight than Japs nowadays, since hikikomoris aren't as big of a thing but look how many are NEETS are in Sup Forums alone
>would blow the hell up and be Scott Pilgrim with it's following
>seeing a live action western qt portray Misaki

what other anime would make for good western live action adaptations?

Not very many, relatively speaking. This is a fringe community.
Hollywood is all about targeting as many people as possible. Going for unemployed losers as their prime audience is not in their interest.

>both the anime and novels are very unpopular in Japan and sold poorly there
>only popular among anime fans
>which isn't really that big of an industry in America anyway

You don't have to be a literal NEET to relate to Satou, although there are a lot of unemployed people out there, I could see people unsatisfied with their soul crushing 9-5 or underachievers relating to Satou. That's not even getting into snowflake tumblrinas who would claim being hypochondriac that would insert themselves in as Satou.

Didn't realize that unpopular in Japan, thought it at least had a cult following. But either way, that's why I suggested a western version. Whatever the reason that caused it to fail in Japan, doesn't mean it'd fail here. Even if it does, it'd be very inexpensive and budget friendly to make compared to making a live action move/show of just about any anime.

Even in the West, as far as I know, it's mostly popular among hipsters and deepfags. Not so much among normies.

Strangely enough, the series doesn't appear to be that popular over here in Asia either. I don't see many Asians talking about it, mostly Americans.

>normies
Hello crossboarder.

>live action western qt

how will they adapt the CP scene in the western live action

They wouldn't. Even making it lolicon would be too much for western audiences that don't normally watch anime.

> Welcome to the PBS

>NEETs and Hiki are distant cousins
I wish this meme would end. Being unemployed is not the same as being afraid to leave your home. I'm one of the few true Hiki on this site, and it disgust me when some lazy faggot thinks he's somehow on my degenerate level, just because he refuses to get a job.

If I wasn't so damn afraid of leaving my home, I would be working and not celebrating that I'm jobless, living off my parents.

Just so we're clear:
Hiki = mental disorder
NEET = lazy shit

>thinking the agoraphobia meme is real
damn, hikki are really scum who need to be euthanized
I'm in th same boat as boat but at least I blame myself and not some fucking imaginary mental illness

There are more reasons to be unemployed than just laziness or agoraphobia, moron.

>imaginary mental illness
uneducated. I suffer from severe anxiety, shortness of breath and dangerous levels of palpitations that make it nearly impossible for me to be out in public. not only am I taking medication, I'm also receiving disability and monthly counseling. this life sucks, so I'm not sure why anyone would think it's cool to be hiki.
yes, but let's be honest. the majority that brag about being NEET are not disabled, or suffering from some sort of mental retardation. perhaps making a general statement was wrong, but it's hard not to when Sup Forums have weekly NEET threads, detailing how many of them abuse the system to avoid working.

>Sup Forums
And that's of concern to Sup Forums how?

>I'm in th same boat as boat

it's going to be a mess since the movie is only 1 hr and 30 min long

at least you can go out unlike me who has visual snow
what's the point of going outside and enjoying the scenery when everything looks like shit due to eye floaters
Trying to watch as much anime as I can before I go fully blind or off myself
meant to say the same boat as you

What do eye transplants cost?

Who said the movie has to be that long? Not to mention the actual book is short as hell, and you could easily fit most of it in a 90 minute film. You could also make a mini series or even a regular tv series desu.

user, that truly sucks. I hope whatever treatment you're receiving is helping. losing vision is the absolute worst.

>Instead of all the shounen or action live action adaptations
Alright, cool
>why don't we get a western live action Welcome to the NHK?
You're losing me
>easy to adapt and you don't need a big budget
If you want to make a shitty one, not that there is any good potentiall from your idea.
>Burgers would relate more to Satou's plight than Japs nowadays, since hikikomoris aren't as big of a thing but look how many are NEETS are in Sup Forums alone

>would blow the hell up and be Scott Pilgrim with it's following
Not only is that highly unlikely, but that is definitely not something anybody would want.
>seeing a live action western qt portray Misaki
This entire post is an act of treason. I should have drawn the line sooner. Fucking heresy.

>>seeing a live action western qt portray Misaki
Neck yourself.

I want a Live Western Adaptation of a ShindoL doujin.

Because Sato is a disgusting pedophile.

Blasphemy

Madness!

I did pull it out of my ass, I admit. I thought the hikkikimori problem was more prevalent during the early to mid 00s, not sure how much of a problem it still is. But I know with the economy and ever since the recession happened there's a lot of jobless or unemployed young people.

Also does anyone think an Ippo live action would be good? It'd have an ending planned out to begin with, it'd be less over the top, and there's not that many live action sports series let alone a boxing one.

Satou isn't an otaku; he's a mentally ill man who can't distinguish fiction from reality.
NHK is a fine book, intriguingly autobiographical, and well-suited for an anime adaptation, but it has little to do with otaku culture. It's niche psychological fiction.

>not wanting a weab scientologist Misaki

Live action Ippo is something that could work. It would have to exaggerate the action scenes but not make them look stupid. The weight behind the best scenes in Ippo are not over-the top action alone, but also the story behind those punches.

Awesome fight with story

The decline of ippo makes me almost as sad as the decline of Berserk.

>Scott Pilgrim
>Western qt
You nearly got me there.

Oh yeah, I can totally see America making a film with a sympathetic pedophile lead.

Watch The Woodsman, but they'd remove that characteristic from Satou anyway. They'd probably just give him a waifu or make him obssessed with regular porn.

I can't think of a single person in the western movie industry that would understand NHK. I also can't think of anyone that would be willing to fund it. If you did find someone to adapt it, you would most likely end up with either Black Swan (A substandard adaptation in concept mostly) or Lars and the Real Girl (A shallow understanding of the problem)

How would you pitch it to normies? NEETS aren't going to go to theatres to watch it.

Got what? I'm not saying it's similar to Scott Pilgrim, just that if made into a live action movie it has all the making of being at least a cult hit especially with all the snowflake tumblerinas latching onto Satou and declaring themselves hyopchandriac and that's not getting into unemployed people or underachivers who'd relate to Satou. There's also the whole "follow the dreams" of becoming some indie game developer that nu males would of course read wrong and think it's promoting that even though it gives a more sobering view of that with Miyazaki giving up on his dream.

>here in Asia

Yeah maybe among your braindead pinoy friends you fucking monkey.

read the fucking novel, that will tell you.

Like I said before, you don't need to be a literal NEET to relate to Satou. Satou's someone everyone can relate to whether it be underachivers, the unemployed, the average 9-5 worker who's unsatisfied with their job or people just not completely happy with the way their life has turned out. Unless you're a chad who's never experienced depression or had self doubt, I'm sure people would at least see where hes coming from. Of course the movie/series has to do a good job making him sympathetic in the first place.

There's a reason why live action adaptations of anime/manga tend to be fucking garbage. They just aren't made to fit live-action as a whole.
The only one I can think of is Aoi Honoo, but that was more anime than any other live action I've ever seen.

Also NHK is self-insert wank for the self-deprecated. Its actually pretty terrible.

The Ping Pong movie was good.

>Also NHK is self-insert wank for the self-deprecated. Its actually pretty terrible.

Man you are going to piss so many people off with this comment.

>two right hands

There will never be any good western anime adaptation by Hollywood.

the matrix :^)

...

>making a movie for NEETs
They'll all just torrent camrips. They don't want to be seen in public or spend money.
