I've loved Ping Pong and Mob Psycho, which have very unconventional art styles. I think it's safe to say art style doesn't matter.

But those art still distinct art styles which you enjoyed for their unconventionality

Difficult to say, to be honest.
I think the art is most important when picking up a title on a whim, as it often tells a bit about the genre or intended audience.

Depends desu, I was put off by Berserk art at the beginning, the same goes to Freesia. BUt I ended up loving them.
Gunnm artwork is fantastic from start to finish.
But even if the art is great, I'm going to stop reading the story if it sucks, *cough* Blush DC *cough*

well, i love mob psycho 100 and the opm webcomic even though they look undeniably poor, but i can't do HxH, it just looks too bad for me, even though it's probably better looking than mob from a critical standpoint.

maybe it's just certain styles that turn me off. i'd say tsugumomo is my favorite art style hands down.
