How come Macross is the only anime that hires people that can actually sing

Other animes like Love Live only hire girls that can't sing very well.

Isn't this strange since Love Live primary selling point are the songs?

Macross primary selling point are mechas. And still they manage to hire people that can sing very well.

>Isn't this strange since Love Live primary selling point are the songs?
lol.

>Macross primary selling point are mechas
I don't have model sales data on hand and don't care to track it down, but I doubt that at this point. Frontier's OST sold a fuckton.

Also,
>animes
>vlcsnap
Fuck off.

This is the best macross song ever. from Macross II

Soko ni Aru no ga Mirai dakara

I can't find anything on youtube.

>caring about vocalists
>implying they aren't the most worthless performers in the music business.

As long as they can stay in key, it doesn't really fucking matter. Most "popular vocalists" aren't actually popular because of their skill anyway.

Who's that sexy slut

>3DPD

>Macross primary selling point are mechas
When has Macross ever not been about music with a mecha backdrop?

I thought Love Live primary selling point was the waifus. Am I wrrong?

>Love Live primary selling point are the songs

Where did you ever get such an impression

Eri Kitamara can sing pretty well. I liked her last EP.

>Eri Kitamara can sing pretty well.
Any fucker, even you, could sing well on a studio recording.

You could sing the entire song flat and have your pitch changed on post production with melodyne.

I don't have any super raw footage, but everything I've seen live suggests she's competent. It's not far fetched; voice acting and singing are similar skills.

It has a budget.

>Love Live primary selling point are the songs

What is Symphogear
What is Nana Mizuki
And in the case of Love Live
Who is Suzuko Mimori

Most of the Japanese idols I've heard can't sing for shit. They just suck. They all sound like the same squeaky little girl. There are very few whose voices I can actually identify. Maybe I'm just a baka gaijin, I don't know. But I listen to a wide variety of music, and the shit I hear from Japanese idols is pretty shallow in terms of vocals.

Well, you've convinced me to watch Macross. Congrats.

Naa they really do sucks at singing but it won't matter, cus they are glorified fap material.

Love Live Sunshine has some amazing singers

Yoshiko, for instance, has insane range and her voice is silky smooth.

7 is probably the most ridiculous out of all of them in the series. Macross DYRL is probably a good starting point.

The first half of Macross Delta was pretty good, then it kinda jumped the rails and burned. Ikenai Borderline is still amazing. Personally I think its because of the saxaphones, the remixes that replace it just don't have the same impact even with the same vocals.

The best one from Macross II is nicovideo.jp/watch/sm5766829

The last one they hired who actually sings was May'n, and that was 7 years ago.

>the last macross I watched was 7 years ago

Love Live has Mimorin and Nanjo. Sunshine has Anchan and Aikyan. And I wouldn't call Naobou and Makina's seiyuu good singers. Also,
>what is Symphogear

>Macross primary selling point are mechas.

Except not. The whole thing that separates Macross from the usual robot fare is that it handles the balance between giant robots, singing and love stories.

The models sell a lot, but the songs win golden records and the concerts have no problem selling out entire halls.

No you're ignorant, Aikatsu! and Idolmaster both have some good singers. There are normal seiyuu that can also sing pretty well, it's not some fucking art form you have to learn for 20 years.

Yeah 7 has pretty great songs (if 80's pop-metal is your thing) and epic moments, but is ridiculous as fuck and at least twice as long as it should have been. Bad place to start.

DYRL is an amazing movie, but it only makes real senses and real impact in the context of SDF. For years DYRL has been the only Macross I've seen and only watching all of SDF made me realise how much I've been missing out on in the movie.

tl;dr, watch SDF and then the rest chronologically if you can put up with early 80's animation (worth it desu), or Frontier if you're too much of a newfag to watch a non-CG drawn series.

user fuck off with that shit

Whether or not they have talent is secondary to how marketable they are to a particular audience.

She's a minor you sick fuck

Even better.

>Isn't this strange since Love Live primary selling point are the songs?
(You)

love live's primary selling point is the doujins

love live is actually a secret plot of the Japanese government to keep herbivore NEETs off social aid programs by creating a sick parady of an economy where they all sell each other pornography

Wrong, Love Live's primary selling point is the game and the general interaction with the community through the "creative" input that is being given. It's a big franchise, music is obviously a significant part of it.

The primary selling point of Love Live are the virgin idols.
They are only singing, because that's part of being an idol.

>Love Live doesn't have beautiful singing voices

Also Love Live is unironically the finest artistic work that humanity has ever produced. Please take your unsophisticated taste elsewhere

The primary selling point of Love Live is the phenomenal writing and execution.

The music is also terrific but I'd argue that it's secondary to the writing.

>inb4: not even 2deep4u

Macross makes a lot of money from the dozen albums they can milk out of each show. Even a shit show like Delta can sell music.

Macross launched her solo singing career and left the others in the dust kek

...

If you are looking for sophistication Pop is not really a place for it

>Macross primary selling point are mechas
That's not at all what Macross is about.
Mecha in general is less of a genre and more of a backdrop to introduce conflict. Macross is about the love triangle between the protagonist and the two girls. So obviously the producers will be invested in making the girls appealing to the viewer.
