So I'm scrolling through the comments section of "name an article about the Florida shooting" and I see a lot people handing out the good old argument that the 2nd Amendment is necessary to give us the tools to protect ourselves from the tyranny of oppressive government.
Problem is that the right to bear arms no longer matters if no one is actually willing to bear those arms. So many people these days will rage for hours about how the 2nd Amendment is necessary and about how we need our weapons to fight the government to protect our freedoms. But no one in the US seems willing to actually put their life on the line and stand up to the government to protect those freedoms. They'll riot and protest and say they'll do whats necessary when the time comes, but when push comes to shove they always meekly back down and slink away to their suburban houses. People these days have no conviction or backbone.
They aren't willing to die for what they believe in. How do you think the NVA and the VC stopped the US Army in vietnam? Or how the hungarians stood up to the Soviet army in 1952 or the poles at Warsaw in 1944? They were willing to fight and die for what they believed in. They died in droves but they still kept fighting. None of these fat, entitled, millenial, neckbearded modern American fucks would even be willing to break a leg for what they believed in!
Uprisings are not built off even odds, they're built off fighting spirit, clever tactics and the will of the people. Yes, many will die, yes, there is no certainty of victory, yes it will be hard, bloody and brutal. But that is what an uprising requires.
As long as the American people are not willing to accept that as a reality, then the 2nd Amendment is meaningless. There is no point in allowing people to own guns if they don't have the spines to use them for what they were made for.
