The GroKo must happen for the SPD because they are losing so much grip of control, and would make the 20% of the election count, so they'd forfeit a good few percent of voters, which they obviously aren't keen on.
As you might can tell, they're fucked no matter what way they go, they just decide how fast it'll fuck them, and for how long.
