A common liberal refrain is 'when the founding fathers wrote the Constitution, they didn't intend to protect ownership of ARs since those didn't exist back then.'
So that's a call for people to put the amendments to the Constitution in historical context.
By that logic, the right to freedom of religion, at the time the document was written, meant you can be Catholic OR Protestant, which at the time was a big deal. It didn't mean religions like Islam or Buddhism.
So if we are going to interpret the Constitution in a historical context and ban ARs, are we going to ban Islam and other Eastern religions too? Orbis it more reasonable to assume the Document was meant to protect current and future freedoms?
