Are you still mad Sup Forums?

I didn't mind the ending, but I'll pretend to be mad so that user doesn't bully me.

Mad in my weeabutt.

Yes. Kamina wouldn't abandon his friends like that.

Post pics of your weeabutt!!

Except he did.

This is a no-bully zone friend, don't worry.

what

No the ending was perfect.
People who are mad literally, unironically, don't get it.

Simon deserved to be happy though

No

Yes

Maybe

I don't know

>abandon

He became a magic drill man, basically an antispiral, so he left humanity to let them have a chance at finding their own way.

Overall the ending is great: he left spiral be spiral instead of this weird thing that goes back and forth and brings people back from the dead. Stuff gets meaning when it can be lost, just look at dragonballs and how impactful deaths are there to understand why Simon didn't want Nia's life to become as trivial as that.

why would I be mad, it was really good ending

Even though the ending was bitter-sweet I think it's a pretty good ending for GL.Still I wanted that Simon and Nia had a child and a happy life

You'd think after over a decade I'd be less mad.

I blame Samurai Jack for copying it, leaving the annoyance feeling fresher.

Holy shit this, i thought it had finally left my mind until that episode

Nah, it felt right despite Simon ending up alone

>despite Simon ending up alone
So as Yoko,

>Simons eyes turn into Drills like Lordgenomes
So, he is going to be immortal or what?

Ending was okay but really long timeskips are usually bad

Simon could've become a god but instead chose being human and loneliness
he was pretty fucking stupid

Why Simon didn't stay whith Yoko? They could be good couple.

>mad
The best thing about TTGL was its ending, if you didn't love it you didn't enjoy TTGL correctly.

The ending was great. All of the surviving characters' suffering losses and still moving forward with their lives was the point. All of these guys were warriors and did great things but now their wars are over and they need to settle down or move on.

Still, I agree, my only real, but minor issue is with Simon voluntarily becoming a lonely, confidence-less hobo and Yoko seemingly cutting off contact from her comrades. It didn't have to be that way, and it honestly felt uncharacteristic.

Simon probably didn't want to die young.

Why? Beyond the initial crush, they became more or less like siblings. They both had a 'love of their life' that died. They were done after that. The both wanted to leave their past lives behind. She wanted to teach the new generations and he wanted to rebuild the world in his/his wife's vision.

>Simon didnt bring Kamina from the dead
>Simon lets his friends to die of old age

What kinda bullshit was that? Even Lordgenome was able to grant immortality and Simon is a god compared to him. Muh future generations is a stupid cop out to run from responsibility

>Lordgenome was able to grant immortality
He could make beastmen immortal since their cells could be cloned, spiral power =/= god powers

But it was implied that Spiral power can bring the deas back but Simon chose not to. Nothing stops Simon from making cells immortal with spiral power also

And yes, Spiral power is god leve power

No, it was bitter-sweet and it played out like I'd expect a super robot show to play out.

>confidence-less hobo
The hell gives you that idea, his battle was done and he passed the reigns on to the next generation.

Ha that's cute, go watch Zambot 3. GL's ending is practically a fucking birthday party in comparison. That shit fucked me up man.

The kid at the end not knowing who Simon was really made me angry at the time for some reason.

He looked like a hobo, man.

Yoko was for Kamina.

you don't steal your bro's girl....

So what was their deal? Are they "together" or what?

Weren't they siblings?
Not objecting, i just don't know

Yeah I thought they were like, siblings too.

Can you repeat the question?

>everyone's AU life is about them being super famous and popular and rich
>Viral's AU is just a simple, happy life with his wife and child

Honestly Viral was one of my favorite characters. I thought he was a cunt when he got introduced but by the end he was a total bro.

Explain why they didn't SAVE Nia.
>muh can't bring back the dead
SHE WASN'T DEAD.

She was an anti-spiral.

So what?

You are not stealing if he is dead. I think he wouldn't mind at all. You know, they both ended up being lonely for the rest of their life, This is so sad, damn. And i believe they could make it and would be happy together.

But not totally anti-spiral. They said she had anti-spiral genes spliced into her spiral genes. I guess that's why she stayed around for so long once the anti-spirals were crushed.

At the same time, how did the anti-spirals get their genes into Nia? I thought the Spiral King created her? Did they sneak them in somehow? Or did the spiral king put them there as an experiment to create some sort of hybrid race that might get along?

So she dies when they do, with her being a creation and all.

>how did the anti-spirals get their genes into Nia
For beings who can alter probability, I'm sure that creating nia wasn't beyond them.

What is there to be mad about? That it wasn't a happy end? Bitch please, that made it way more memorable

So you are saying she died when anti-spirals died, but then stayed "not-alive-but-not-dead" for some time before "dying for real"?

user, someone else can't bring you happiness, only you can bring yourself happiness. Both Simon and Yoko found happiness within themselves and were able to pass that on to others. Simon took pride in his accomplishments and wandered, visiting and helping others if they needed it. Yoko returned to teaching, passing on her knowledge and wisdom to future generations.

Neither Simon nor Yoko needed the other to be happy, they were content with themselves.

I've always like the "outwardly tough guy secretly wants a simple life" trope, its heartwarming.

This is an anime where people can do things through willpower and have it be completely accepted.

So yes. That is what I'm saying.

I still can't accept it.
For me it still stays a shitty forced ending with a doubly annoying rationalization.
Thanks for trying tho.

It's a great ending. Simone became God and rejected that power, letting spirals live on as spirals have always done. Saying fuck you to easy mode life.

I wonder if he'll find someone. He is immortal now, he'll forever be a sort of living chronicle of what Team Gurren did all those years ago. He can't have kids but he could get with some human girl I guess.

I wasn't but now I am because you reminded me
>muh bittersweet ending

I mean, I hated that Nia died too. But that was the point of the "spiral nemesis". You can't be against something and then try and said thing for you own gain as justification. That was why she wasn't going to magically come back to life.

This is a story about Simon growing up. Like any real adult, you have to live with consequences. And like any real adult, you don't deserve a happy ending.

If it makes you feel better, google search interviews with the creators. Some of them hated the ending too.

>Viral is immortal
>gets it on with some human girl
>sees her age and die
Do you think that would be happy end? I feel like Viral would be the first to seek death in some pointless conflict, just so he can go see his old friends again.

I wasn't yesterday, however this post has brought back my boiling .

Then ending of Mirai Niki is bad? Yuna Gasai also is mortal.

No, I got my Yoko x shotacon doujins

>Do you think that would be happy end?
I suppose not. I think Viral kinda understood that too. When all the Team Gurren members were exposed to those alternate universe lives, they eventually did reject them, knowing that it wasn't their destiny to be stuck in that idealized world. In the end, Viral is some sort of commander, which I think fits his personality.

I do wonder how society worked on the surface with the beastmen. They were all very aggressive, and even friendships seemed to be based off of one-upping each other. I don't know if Viral would say any of the other beastmen was his friend, they all seemed to act on the wishes of Lordgenome as opposed to any sort of motivation on their own.

It's an illusion of a good end. Someone truly immortal would only witness the deaths of his/her loved ones over and over again, seeing everything they knew crumble into dust and so on. Their memories would start to blur and they couldn't know who is who anymore, since human brain has a limit on memory. It's pretty horrible if you ask me.

Bestguyever I think did a video on it. The point is supposd to be that he is omnipotent yet doesnt abuse it for personal gaine because that would destroy the universe. My problem is that it goes against the whole massage till then. Never conciede, always have hope, always find a way. But now suddenly lets take a 180 because we are art and shiet.

This is a story about simon growing up. That was the message. When you're young, having hope and "never conceding is acceptable. And then you get actual power and responsibilities and need to be more practical. You "finding a way" when you're omnipotent could spell trouble for other people.

I was mad at first and then I came to be okay with the ending.
Then I watched the new Samurai Jack season. Now I'm angry all over again.
