All the anger and retribution that would come from an assassination is not some irrelevant side-effect; it might very well be the primary goal. Thankfully leftists have been having an increasingly hard time manipulating the American population, so they can't count on whatever post-assassination narrative they dream up to actually play out the way they want. The risk of it backfiring on them is what's probably keeping them from trying.

Well, Oswald was killed before he had a chance to say anything substantial, and the files from the investigation were completely locked down for decades. Even now they're not 100% unredacted. And given what we know about the FBI and CIA we can't trust that anything they say is the unvarnished truth. It could be that something about the Kennedy assassination could have sparked a civil or foreign war, but that information was suppressed. We can only speculate.
