Yaoi was originally made for closeted lesbians who used it to explore their sexuality and allowed an excuse to their parents on their anti-heteronormative behaviour by justifying it with "they're boys!". It was easier to explain than being caught with yuri manga. Straight women hijacked the genre.

Kys yourself

But you're a guy, not a japanese closet lesbian.

Prove it.

fake and gay

>genre all about dicks and rape
>lesbian

debunk'd

It's real

Interesting hypothesis, good on ya for thinking about things. But it doesn't hold together.

-Straight women are more interested in cute boys than lesbian women are.

-Most cultures, Japan's included, consider male homosexuality MORE transgressive than female sexuality

You would have to come up with some evidence to support your idea.

This is where I found out about it

The article itself is called "Male-Male Romance by and for Women in Japan: A History and the Subgenres of Yaoi Fictions" written by Akiko Mizoguchi.

When is the movie coming out holy shit I need more sexual jokes in my life

>twitter.com/tsukum_/status/901937671618134017
>uses queer
Judging by her post she's probably an sjw dyke.
Still fake and gay.

Huh. Seems to be fairly well-researched.

Now, the author is clearly focusing on one aspect of the development of yaoi (and she admits as much,) but it does make a compelling argument that queer women exploring variant sexuality was an important part of the story. Cool, thanks for bringing this up.

"straight women hijacked it" is just trolling, but you gotta do what you gotta do to get replies.

And here we have the counterexample, how NOT to debate.

>If you tell me a fact I don't like, you're an enemy
>enemies tell lies
>any fact I don't like is an enemy lie

If you're more concerned with what team an idea supports than whether it's true, you're a very dangerous kind of idiot.

>genre all about dicks and rape
>lesbian
Lesbians secretly want some good cock. Seems consistent to me user.

Are you high?

>yaoi main demographic is straight women
>shota main demographic is straight men
the sky is also blue

That's an interesting thesis. I need to read more books about the history of doujinshi and Japanese smut.
It's generally true that LGBT people are more likely to sympathize with or experiment with depictions of other, different LGBT people, because once you've crossed the threshold of being not heterosexual, the same people are going to look down on you whether you're gay, bi, or transsexual.
If you want to tell a story of forbidden love between two people of the same gender, the being of the same gender part is most important to the plot.

It's also bullshit to describe art as being hijacked. A heterosexual girl's desire to consume male sexuality without the element of vaginas getting plowed isn't any more or less justifiable than a lesbian's desire to talk about homosexuality.
You can see in the comments a link to a tumblr (I clicked it so you don't have to) pointing out that gay men don't particularly appreciate their lifestyle being hijacked by lesbians for artistic purposes.
It's all a big circle of identity fuckery and getting upset about porn.

Is this a tumblr thread?

So lesbians are turned on by big manly hands?

You have everything mixed up, yuri was originally a medium for heterosexual females to explore their sexuality in a closed and misogynistic society, until it was hijacked by actual lesbians during the Japanese female liberation in the 90s, yaoi was and is also exclusively an heterosexual genre for females in Japan, western radicalized lesbians who took a liking in yaoi is a completely different subject

at least they linked to a link to a source...

Did you read the OP?

Yes, nobody else on Sup Forums gives a fuck about lgbt stuff but them.

It remains undefeated

Looks like it is a tumblr thread.

Makes sense considering that reading yaoi and becoming a dyke are two ways to cope for a disgusting 3dpd landwhale.

Nice headcanon fag

I don't know specifics about fujoshi or yuri subcultures but I know one thing, otakus in general insist on making a huge distinction between lovely 2D and shitty 3D and that's why there're terms like 3DPD. So using someone's tastes in 2D to try and assume things about their tastes in their 3DPD lives is bad form and somethings that should never be done. It's retarded because I bet 99% of the people that may get excited when seeing a tentacle monster having sex with 2D girl on a manga panel will find this repulsive and vomit-inducing in real life (on top of how 3DPD is inherently revolting, of course).

So, what's your point?

OP is a tumblr sjw dyke, most likely. That's the point

>made for
Made by shoujo mangaka and girls who loved Grendizer.

>western radicalized lesbians who took a liking in yaoi is a completely different subject
It doesn't surprise me that nip fujoshi loathe Western fujos. They're always bringing up real life politics, even though they have nothing to do with some nip schoolgirl's homosex fantasies.

so basically lesbians are the worst.

>anti-heteronormative behaviour
Do people out of tumblr and american colleges use orwellian terminology and postmodernist garbage?

>anti-heteronormative
Obv a twitter or Tumblr

>hetfemals highjacking homo
No het femals have been into male homo for centuries. Check ancient china and japanese edo period.

People need to stop thinking that because one phd fag writes a paper it becomes the word of god. World would be fucked if that were true
