Tired old memes aside, the show has Lovecraftian monsters turned uber cute girls, tokusatsu references, some okay humor, and a crappy MC.
Smut like Nisekoi is far worse and look at how popular it became. Makes sense that anything remotely better may stand a chance, you know.
The marketing part would help a hell of a lot.

If I'm being honest I loved it.
I fully realize the show is terrible, most of the references fly over my head and a good number of them are forced as fuck. But I just can't hate it. I love Nyaruko. I never had a character I ever wanted to wife as hard as I wanted to wife Nyaruko. Maybe it was the clingy adoration, maybe it was the stockings or skirt. I don't know what it was, but I will watch everything that has her in it.
