Question for drawfags. So when is a good time to switch from traditional to digital? I'm just using pencil and paper. But endgame is digital, how good should I be before transitioning?

I started with digital. Though I think I would prefer to have gotten one of those screen pads instead of the plain one I have.

skills gained by grinding analog will transfer to digital, but not the other way around

ah with this the 50 cal is de syncing (kinda like rapid switching out where as the Scars would be switching in)

You can learn either way, but a screen gives you an edge due to familiarity to paper. Non-screen keeps your neck comfortable since you'll look at the monitor.

I jumped straight to digital so I can say you don't need to do traditional before going digital. Fundamentals are the same no matter the medium, so it doesn't matter where you start. It's just digital has a couple more layer of complexity to it: learning a software, picking the right software for you, and the learning curve of digital art in general. Figuring those out sooner will make digital art-ing a more pleasant experience versus fumbling around trying to replicate everything you've done traditionally in digital. Basically, since your goal is digital, just do digital.

For tablets go with whatever you want. Having used both display and standard tablets, I'd say there's not much difference in terms of what you can produce, you'll learn to adapt to your tablet, display or not. If you do go for a standard one, get a nice monitor (an IPS panel at least) so your colors are consistent across display screens.
