F/Z is the best entry

That rod doesn't even have a reel on it.

They don't all have reels on them.

I could accept that if he was fly fishing but he's on a pier sitting down for fucks sake

F/Z is good. I don't care about the rest.

F/Z is great
Fate is bad but necessary
UBW is good
HF is the peak of the series
HA is a lot of fun

Telescopic and cane poles typically don't, plus he's not doing anything deep sea.

Tsukihime and Melty are officially non-canon.

f/ha is the best one

I enjoy it when the chuunishit is at its best.

I actually never finished HF and I don't want to go back and read it because I lost my save and a %100 save just wouldn't be the same.

Why are there so many FATE 'things'?
Why are FATE threads producing like rabbit hole?
Why does FATE series have so much budget?
Why does FATE fans keep consuming fate things when it's all just another lifeless franchise that will keep on rewriting uncreative stories until it maximize its profit?

didn't the fate series start with an ero game that was well known that then got an anime

>Honest thoughts on Fate?

Fate series shit the bed in the turn of the 2010s

>Gil fishing
He would just watch the others waste there time catching the small fish and claim the big ones as his property.

unironically one of the best urban fantasy series of this century thus far.

Completely retarded

...

Franchise that I still like even though I should know better

I'm just here for the doujins and lewd.

Apocrypha's cool, and I hope Last Encore's more enjoyable than Extra. I should probably watch Zero and Prillya soon.

Fate is what happens when a porn game accidentally has a thought provoking plot and an interesting setting. When the franchise began to shy away from its erotic roots with the first anime adaptation the series actually became interesting. The setting, characters, and the intentional withholding of setting information gave the Holy Grail War an air of genuine mystery. The Servants kept you guessing their true identities. The Masters and Servants both were a bunch of smug assholes and clueless idiots with harshly conflicting ideals and personalities. It was fun seeing such vastly different characters interact with each other. This was the Fate most people took interest in. When Zero came around it maintained the mysterious and dark tone of the setting but it had new characters with new motivations despite the plot being more or less the same. It was fun to discuss who's who and what retard is going to get fucked over in what way. It was fun talking about happy wheels and Kerry's suffering.

Then everything went to shit. Saberfaces started popping up out of the woodwork and the tone for the entire series took a sharp turn into the wacky and new instead of delivering what it did best. The stories became generic and the MC's became more and more forgettable. Servants lost their mystery and everything became a powerwank with laserbeams and other bullshit that don't make any sense in regards to their legends or stories. Its almost like everything post-Zero with the *sole* exception of Strange/fake could be lumped together into one vague blob full of Saber clones and shallow fanservice. Legendary or historic figures started to become genderbent without any real reason other than "I kept my gender secret for the history books". Characters like Boudica or Ushiwakamaru started showing up and it was becoming clear the entire franchise has become nothing more than another generic waifu generator that cranked out lewd loli's and titty monsters.

tl:dr: It's shit.

As someone who's majoring in modern fiction I can agree. There is a drought of good contemporary fantasy and most examples we do have are books for kids and young adults much along the lines of Harry Potter or Twilight. Most examples for more mature crowds are either dime-a-dozen vampire romance novels or retarded shit like the Magicians or the Dresden Files where every character is a dumbass and the actual setting details get glossed over and never gets any real depth.

Fate is unironically one of the better contemporary fantasy series out there. I want to see post-war Shirou & Co. killing terrorists and doing heroic shit with magecraft.

Man i forgot how the comedy gold that was cu's fishing shenanigans

>fate first became interesting with the 2006 DEEN anime adaptation
I won't tell you to kill yourself, but I wouldn't be sad if you decided to.

...

I worded that poorly. Fuck.

If you had to make an adaptation of Last Episode, how would you go about doing it?

>this guy is summoned as a lancer

How fucked are all the other servants/masters?

Also, what would his noble phantasm be?

I STILL WANT TO KNOW WHAT WAS IN SHIROU'S PANDORAS BOX
AND HIS THOUGHTS ON BLOND HAIR

Isn't that girl in Prisma?

Yes.

>very
>sticks them together for some crazy darth maul type shite

Stay Night looks really fucking stupid when it tries to take itself seriously.
They should just create another CP.

It's a bit of a risky maneuver, but I think I'd probably go for some sort of "artsy" style. To be honest, I don't really care for overly "artsy" visuals, since it's easy to fall into the side of pretentious, but for Last Episode, I think it'd be the best fit.

First off, I'd hire Rikiya Koyama and Sayaka Ohara as the narrators as a bit of fanservice. It'd be presented as a sort of short movie, separated into three parts. The theme of the first part would be "memory", the theme of the second part would be "dream" and the theme of the third part would be "awakening". The vocal direction would be "like a parent reading a story to a child".

The first part, which recounts events of the Fate route, would be "memory" and narrated by Koyama. Rather than a straight recap, some parts would be exaggerated. The focal points would be Shirou and Saber. It'd be like looking into someone's memory; only the parts that made the greatest impact would be seen. To Shirou, Saber's shining, gallant and elegant form would be magnified.

The second part, separated into two sub-parts, would be "dream" and narrated by Ohara. You never really get a good look at anyone's faces, and a lot of vague imagery would be used here. You can see parts of Shirou's face, like his eyes or his mouth, but you never see the whole thing at once. For Saber's part, she'd be sleeping the whole time. It'd be as if Saber is looking at Shirou from a dream, but because it's a dream, it's a bit obscure. When Merlin appears, he's a bit blurry, as if Saber is slightly opening her eyes from the depths of her sleep. She can't fully wake up, so she can only see a blur.

Hollow Ataraxia is my favorite entry in the series.

The third part takes place in Avalon. This time, both Koyama and Ohara narrate, with Koyama narrating Shirou's parts and Ohara narrating Saber's. Shirou is, at first like a machine. His movements are stiff and machine-like. However, as he moves forward, life seems to return to him. When he eventually breaks out into a run, it's as if he's a robot who became a real person. Saber is completely still at first, like an unchanging statue. But as Shirou begins to run, a slight breeze blows, moving her hair and clothes. The faster Shirou runs, the more life-like she becomes. Clutching her hands together, her legs move slightly, but she doesn't allow it. She can't steal away Shirou's moment. She's decided that she would wait for him to come to her, even though she desperately wants to break out into a run herself. Once again, we don't quite see either Shirou or Saber's faces; when we do see them, it's only when the two of them are standing before each other. When Saber sees Shirou again, it's the Shirou she remembers. The wear and tear of the years have left him, the burdens have been lifted. And the Saber Shirou sees is the Saber that only he was ever allowed to see: a smiling young ordinary girl. Even her most trusted knights were never able to see this. It is something reserved solely for Shirou.

Alternatively ,instead of Koyama and Ohara, maybe Mai Kadowaki could voice the last part. I dunno. In any case, it's just a bit of service for the Zero fans. Personally, since it would play out like a storybook that a mother and father are reading to their child, I think it'd be weird for the child to suddenly start reading it instead.

Best route?

Lancer deserves a better franchise.

This is basically right. Stay Night and Zero had substance to them, strong themes, characters with depth and personality, mystery and horror elements, climatic moments I actually gave a shit about. Somehow the rest of the franchise completely misses out on that, focusing instead on shallow pandering and fanservice. They abandoned everything that made the series interesting to shit out more waifus for those sweet, sweet otaku bux.

If you have any taste at all you should read Stay Night, watch Zero, and get the fuck out.

>everyone laughs at him because he looks like some generic infantry fodder
>even his master is unsure if they'll survive
>but little do they know, his cold disposition belies the blazing fury within
>for in his heart are the countless souls of infantrymen ruthlessly cut down by savage lords and rulers
>"Don't get carried away, peasant."
>but his countenance remains unchanged
>without a word, the forgotten soldier advances towards his opponent
>with his pole arms burning brighter than a thousand suns, and an army of vengeful spirits at his side, the other servants tremble- this was their downfall
>"Repent, you sinners."

...

Boring, only F/Z is bearable.

Maybe he enjoys fishing but not catching fish

>use flashy swords and shit instead of the practical pole arm
>wear garrish chest plates and shoulder pads instead of a comfy padded gambeson
>probably only hunted fucking quail and maybe a boar or two
>never defended their farmstead against bandits, wolves, etc.
>probably don't even know how to make a proper irrigation system

Why are nobles such shit?
