I didn't know how bad Communism was until I escaped to a capitalist democracy and visited my first dollar store. Back in Cuba all the decent stuff went to Capitalist tourists while we had to drink coffee from coffee grinds laced with ground up chickpeas, eat eggs from chickens that were fed flies instead of grain and veggies. I sometimes had to drink a glass of water with three teaspoons of sugar mixed in as dinner.
From my life experience, I'd rather live in a capitalist country run by a white male Anglo just to be safe. Because of recent Communist popularity I'd be satisfied to live in a National Socialist or Fascist state to at least topple Marxist politicians and their street insurgency.

Capitalism is harsh and predatory, but fair nonetheless. As some old czech architect said once, communism is uprising of the incompetent and mediocre against competent and successful.

Cuban doctors are pretty low quality. Think of the Chinese "barefoot doctor" model.
I personally went in for minor surgery four times without having the doctors fix the problem. Only after I received medical care outside Cuba was the surgery successful.
I cannot verify the sodomy part since I was not a political dissident. We did get harassed by the police once because my senpai had potluck dinners with friends. It was reported by a neighbour who didnt like us - Nigs upstairs.
