It's been over 10 years since Code Geass and no anime has beaten it yet in terms of trainwreck quality.

So what anime can be considered the second best trainwreck of a show?

I dunno Sam Flam got close in a good way and valverave got close in the full retard way, so those are probably next.

1. Code Geass
--- power gap ---
2. Samurai Flamenco
3. Guilty Crown
4. Kakumeiki Valvrave
5. School Days
6. Eden of the East
7. Marwaru Penguindrum
8. Star Driver
9. Kill la Kill
10. Fractale

Mayoiga. There was no trainwreck in the anime itself to speak of - it were the threads on Sup Forums that became a trainwreck. Quite an interesting development.

Man I hope promare ends up completely bug fuck nuts even more then kill la kill was.

Fractale had no potential to begin with, so it shouldn't count. School Days is arguable as well.

Mayoiga should be on there somewhere though.

Where's Cross Ange?

Code Geass was a masterpiece, not a trainwreck.

In the dumpster where it belongs.

Do you people really consider Geass a trainwreck or is this some giant cosmic meme? Shit was pretty coherent.

Cross Ange was bad from episode 1.

'Trainwreck' implies that the show was heading in a good direction when it began.

'Garbage fire' is the term used for something that was always bad but still entertaining, like Cross Ange.

It's just a buzzword that unfortunately people don't shit on when it's misused as much as they do when "edgy" is misused.

Also did you guys all just forget about this shit or what
Or does it not count because it came before Geass?

Did you actually watch code geass?

Valvrave wasn't going to a good place in episode 1 either. We all knew that when we were watching it.

Where does Aldnoah Zero fit on the scale of train wreck cause I know you guys at one point really early on thought it was gonna be good riding off urobutcher's high from madoka and psycho pass.

I don't think you know what trainwreck means.

Oh and hey what about this

Evol was good though.

Code Geass isn't really a trainwreck, though, since it had a satisfying conclusion and wasn't a bad anime overall. I'm not sure why more and more people have been calling it that these past few years or so.

Pic related is an actual trainwreck, because it went off the rails and exploded in a figurative ravine by the end.

Valvrave kinda gave the hope here and there that it would turn good.

Yeah this one had definitively some crazy moment.

Needs Aldnoah on the list.

Kill la Kill, Fractale and School Days should not be listed. Penguindrum either because that creator always makes insane stuff.

And you're overlooking some genuine trainwrecks too.

No trainwreck because nothing happened in the end.
In was a huge build up with absolutely no pay off.

What about Kabaneri? I personally thought it was shit from the get-go but quit a few user had high hope about it and the show got its fair chunk of grotesque moment. It's also similar enough to Guilty Crown in its pretentiousness and aim.

What are you talking about? There was payoff. Best boy came back from the dead-yo!

>chode gayass
>not bad
hipster nostalgia speaking

Before Code Geass there were trains and there was wrecking, but both existed as seperate entities.
Only after Geass did trains started getting wrecked. You could say it invented trainwrecks.

oh god i remember the sheer rage of the last few episodes of season 1 and episode 1 of the second season happened like it was yesterday, people were so pissed.

Still pretty good for Pizza Hut commercial.

>I'm a hipster for liking Code Geass

What fucking board am I posting on? Is this what Sup Forums is like nowadays?

Oh shit Sup Forums, what's his name again?

>trainwreck quality
Where did this stupid shit come from ?

Chainsaw Chimp.

Was kind of hoping re:creators would end up that way but instead it's just boring.

Seperating Simian

It's still summer and the cancer has to fit in.

The threads for it were the best thing on Sup Forums last year

Re:Creators has this feeling like its gonna go crazy at any point but absolutely refuses too so its all buildup and literally fuck all for payoff. absolutely crazy shit should be happening but its not, and its completely depressing.

2008 was 20 years ago, pops.

Welcome to 2017 grandpa, there are new kids on the block now.

It's been 3 years and even now I still wonder how the fuck samurai flamenco got made.

Like what were the storyboard discussions like, to lead to that shitfest? Was it just a tax write-off? A fever dream?

Eden of the East wasn't a trainwreck. It did start out with great potential, but ultimately it just fizzled out. No oil fire to see here.

you younguns have it nice and easy these days, a centralized sub group, no faggy TL drama that fills up the entire screen of the episodes you watch, no terrible fucking subs written by a chinese guy translating from vietnamese thats translated from jap, so all you get is crabstick tier retardation. You guys don't have to deal with pirating shit from god knows where on god knows what site so you can hope its not 50 gigs of dolphin porn.
we would have eaten your kind alive back in those days.

I'm Fairly certain the guys from manglobe found the leftover stash from whatever the fuck the guys who made lain were on and proceeded from there since shit probably went slightly stale by that point.

>kids
you mean faggots

>Eden of the East wasn't a trainwreck.
Hahahahahahaha

It baffle me how this borefest got gifted with such an awesome OST.

It was fun.

>new kids
You got that right.

i'm legit convinced it was supposed to be all out batshit insane at some point but all the fun was killed by shitty directors, so we got the terrible that it is that by all rights should not be as bad as it is but it is.

guilty crown was really shit and I dropped it on episode 17. And yes I was watching it ongoing, but it felt so boring to me.

How was Star Driver a wreck? It was what it is from the start to the finish.

the end got really really fucking stupid.

Oh right, there's this thing too I'd modify to:

1. Code Geass
2. Samurai Flamenco
3. Guilty Crown
4. Kakumeiki Valvrave
5. Mayoiga
6. Aldnoah.Zero
7. Danganronpa 3
8.
9.
10.

No idea what to put in the last 3 spots though.
I feel like the titles proposed there are nowhere near enough the status of a trainwreck.
Maybe Evol? (haven't actually watched it) or Kuromukuro? (kinda lked it honestly)
Also, it's kinda funny how so many of these shows involve mecha.

>polyamory end

But it was stupid throughout the show.

but most of it was stupid (good), the end was stupid (full retard)

I think they started with a pretty neat premise of "How would overly idealistic vigilantism work in the real world" before going "Wow this is boring shit, I KNOW!" and proceeding to storyboard in a monkey with a chop chop in it's chest

Amputating Ape

It went full retard from episode 1, the moment the words "Galactic Pretty Boy" was uttered, the theme for the show was set, ultimate asspulls.

I'm still mad Sam Flam never got a sequel cause it didn't sell enough, it was literally AOTY, and it legit had some serious competition and still stood out as best series of the year.

the ending is really really good though

Wait wait wait, so are you telling me the worship of Code Geass on Sup Forums has only ever been ironic/because it's so bad this whole time?

This shatters my entire universe.

Even a trainwreck can be beautiful, user.
You should've been there during R2 ending, it was wonderful how a show could unite the board, in shitposting.

To this day i have never rewatched Guilty Crown because of how much of a trainwreck it was.

Shoe just fucked up too much

There are times I want to rematch valvrave but I stop myself for basically the same reason.

i like it when protagonists start out fucking shitty, then there's lots of room to grow. but i guess getting shittier is also a kind of development

Im still mad

CG is not a trainwreck. Samurai Flamenco is at the top, definitely.

Doesn't qualify. Kabaneri's train stayed on track the whole time, both figuratively and literally. Shit was boring as hell.

This, nothing will ever top the Guillotine Gorilla, you can match it but it's physically impossible to suprass it.

Mayoiga was possibly the most boring thing I've ever watched. Not trainwreck.

Make sure you enjoy the dub as well.

>His waifu dies
>Tried to sacrifice himself
>Gets cucked out of that
>New waifu died
>Now a blind cripple with 2 dead waifus
What a shitty life for Shoe.

>+Kenzen Robo Daimidaler
Absolutely not. I stayed true to itself since the beginning and i was great.

Guilty Crown waz shit from the beggining. I would argue that the budget and scale of the project would classify it s trainwreck. It looked and sounded pretty, but everything else was so awful.

Good, he deserves it, and so do the writers.
