Because every single character in this cast is a dysfunctional human being. Putting aside the incest, everyone's got their heads so far up their own asses that it's legitimately difficult to find any of them worthwhile. Ayase's just the most blatant because, as selfish and insecure as everyone is, her selfishness and insecurity is dialed up to 170. She's just better at hiding it because she's a sociopath.
