I think it's mostly Yame's fault. The whole conflict could've been resolved if she had only reassured him the moment he brought up his insecurities. Instead, she gave him the cold shoulder for the whole day even when Junichi's trying to get her to talk to him and sort things out and to add more fuel, she went out with the guy who was the source of Junichi's insecurities without resolving things first.
