Was/is the South African apartheid the best system ever created? And why doesn't we, the West, implement some sort of aparthied in our own countries?
Look at the statistics from pre-1994 SA and today's SA, almost two different countries. While pre-94 had low crime rates, top-tier army and a succesful 1st world country despite economic sanctions from the rest of world.
Now it's run by totally corrupt politicans and the whole country is barely floating. Crime rates is sky rocking. And they have a city that is almost dried out. The ones who keep the SA running is pre-dominantly whites and if they're leaving South Africa will just be another failed African state probably at the same level as Zimbabwe.

I was born in SA, but I was born in 88, I barely remember the last yeras of aparthied, but one thing was very clear: No one struggled to find a job and everyone whether white, black, or colored was more or less capable of raising a family on their own.
I don't know if aparthied was the "best" system as I was a very small kid and barely remember its final years, but after it was abolished, you heard the blacks complaining about not being able to find work, something they never did before.
And this is purely ancedotal, but my family originally immigrated to South Africa from Austria precisely because they felt they had more economic freedom and a better chance to climb the social ladder than they had back in Europe. Plenty of people immigrated to South Africa under aparthied, even Africans from neighboring African countries, believe it or not, because economic opportunity was so much better than it was anywhere else.

I was born in 88 and grew up in the early 90s, so SA was pretty wild around that time. I never really directly experienced any of it myself since I was a small kid, but I do remember our teacher saying that we would now have to address blacks properly like whites as Mister and Misses and you heard stories of whites virtually going full "doomsday prepper" by converting barns into little fortresses and things like that. Aside from all the hysteria leading up the election, things were more or less normal. I lived in a white community, never saw a black person aside from our helpers and maids, and we played outside like normal kids, we ate Chappies and had cook-outs and took joyrides to town for no reason.
My parents are Austrian, not originally from SA, and they were always bragging about how much better SA was than Austria, how there was absolutely no crime, education was better, no corruption, ect. But they were typical whites of their time, they didn't understand why the blacks wanted aparthied to end, they always said "We built the kaffirs universities and hospitals, we called to them like a momma goat and nursed them like a cow." (If you don't know, mother goats kind of "shout" to their babies, it means the whites didn't let the blacks stray off by themselve for their own good, for their protection)
I'm not an historian or an economist, I can't say if aprthied was the "best" system, I was just saying that it must have done something right because no one complained about unemployment and it attracted immigrants even from other African countries, so it couldn't have been too terrible of an idea, but I can't conclusivesly say if it was the "best" idea.

The approach of Afrikaners was to separate each culture and tribe to their respective areas, like done in Europe, they wanted to have the same model here.
Since Southern Africa was riddled with tribal wars, they sought to break up each group and establish classes with the respective areas. They understood that sudden wealth distribution between the previously poor would lead to corruption, which is why the tagerted communities had massive development in schools, housing and hospitals.
Then with each group seperated, they would get rid of the cultural barrier but the language barrier would still exist. For this afrikaans was introduced into the schooling system so that when seperated, they could still communicate with full understanding.
Knowing that it could still have violent results, even when separated, the afrikaans government needed to be a leading military force stronger than these factions. Therefore developed a nuclear arsenal so that they would be superior while the transformation happens.
Of course all these actions were just shown in the in bad light. Leading to all the international pressure. If south africa never faced all the sactions, and the ANC never got all their funding and training from the soviet union. South Africa today would have been completely different.
