With the push from President Trump, et al., to make all firearms purchases 21+ why not make legal adulthood, including voting and enlistment, 21?

There seems to be no reason to do this than to make two tiers of legal majority, like some sort of pre-adulthood adulthood. All of the potential penalties of adulthood with none of the privileges.

I think the best chance would to do this while Trump is president and the way to get the left on board is raising the minimum age for military service to 21 with the minimum age for voting.

LEGIT optical topic gets ignored go figure.

I am all for this. The 18-20 year old of today is no where near the maturity of 20-30 years ago. Few have jobs or live on their own.
Adult age should start at 21. With some things available at 18 with parental permission. Military service would allow for early adult status.

>legit optical
Legit political discussion is ignored because of the fucking shilling

Why not 35 or 65 of 85?!!!!!1

Eventually it will be. But on the bright side it will delay them from voting a few more years. Unrestrained liberal votes will have less time.
Most of my friends became more conservative at 30.

65 would be pretty insane, desu.

Good idea. I’m 37. Sucks for you kids.

So kids can just keep pushing off becoming an adult until older and older? In the end I see this as something that hurts society rather than helping it.

Voting used to be 21.
The reality is that most people I know under 22 are no where near ready for adulting. Aside from a huge shift in society nothing can be done but at least we can hold them off of fucking up the republic for a few years.

It's either full adulthood at 18 or full adulthood at 21. The push is to to make most things but voting and enlistment 21+.

The fact should be full adulthood at 18 or 21.

The 26th Amendment changed that.

It should go much farther, like only taxpayers or land owners, but I see that being too high a burden to overcome.

The brain doesn’t even stop developing until around 25.

>adulting
sounds like you aint either, bubb

The age for legal adult is 25 according to the insurance industry. After 30 you cannot be trusted though.

Insurance companies do not determine what is legal or not, they are organizations that determine risk.

Militia clause state 18-45 is militia age.
Trump violates the 2nd and goes to Cuba with his commie buddies.

OBambi tried violating the 2nd and yer he gets a facial.

40 years ago a 19 year old might be married with a kid. Today they're in mom and dads basement. So they can borrow dad's guns.

What's the incentive for 19 year olds to leave mom and dad's house?

If you can take away the 2nd amendment from a legal adult, why not the 1st or the 4th or 5th or 6th? Do 20 year olds no longer have protection from search and seizure? Do they no longer have the guarantee of a trial by jury? Can they no longer freely publish or assemble? I don't see an age ban getting by the supreme court. Private institutions can be free to sell to whomever they want, sure, causing a de facto ban, but for the government to make a law explicitly restricting the 2nd amendment rights of a legal adult is unconstitutional. Also in the scenario where it's not a law and just retailers, all it will take is one gun store to say "we still sell to 18" and they'll get all their county's sales.

Funny how we see more or less the opposite in Europe. The national conservatice getting the youth vote while the older generations keeps the communist in government.

Also raise the age of consent and porn to really fuck everything up

I was thinking the exact same thing.

Minors are entitled to constitutional protections, such as 1, 4, 5, 6 amendment protections among others.

The second amendment has always been unique among the others. While one's right to vote has been constitutionally set at 18 by the 26th amendment, it does not mean all 18 year olds may vote (the application of the amednments are done by statute by the congress or executive order by the president). As mentioned, the militia is defined as 18-45 year olds, but that is an application by statute which can change.

Given this, there is enough precedent to permit the restriction of certain rights and privileges by age.

I would say that moving it to 23+ would be a good change. If people were careless when they reach the age where they can do something legally (e.g Drive, Drink alcohol) then people would be drunk while using a firearm. The move to the age of 23+ would make the user more respectable when using it.

You have to be 17 to get into an adult movie but you have to start paying adult prices for kids movies at 12. You shouldn't be charged adult prices until you can get into adult movies.

Liberal moron think the violence will stop if all guns are gone. Tim McVey showed the world you can kill people with fertilizer.

If we're going to push things to 21 anyway, then I'd agree with pushing everything else alongside it such as voting, conscription etc. However, I don't agree with the premise as the constitution doesn't state that the bill of rights only applies to adults.
