Why can't newer animes make background music as good as Sailor Moon?
Why do older anime have better BGM?

The composer's dead so nobody can really make music like that.
>makes a thread about BGM
>doesn't post BGM
Sailor Moon was a really exceptional series period. Far as being charming and loveable goes, it's head and shoulders above most series; most 90s anime aren't on Sailor Moon's level or anywhere close to it.
Practically all old anime has terrible sound production and cheesy music. I refuse to believe someone made this thread in earnest. Maybe you've had a bit too much of that old nostalgia, pal.

Nope...
90s were the golden age of anime. Sailor Moon is only one of many great shows. Watch more.
>Practically all old anime has terrible sound production and cheesy music
Wrong.
>cheesy music
I'm gonna break it to you. What you find cheesy, was actually hip as fuck back in the day, and what you find cool now, is gonna be cheesy come a decade or two.
The music in Macross was so fucking good.

I picked those videos because they are meddleys with some of the best.

You're forgetting one honorable mention.
Cheesy you say, try this OST:

I'm sorry, but this sounds very generic.
Generic is a criticism used by people who don't know how to express why they don't like something.
I know the 90s had a lot of good anime. I've watched many of them. But I really, really fucking love Sailor Moon. There's not many series that can reach the astronomical levels of adoration I have for it, no matter what the decade.
Then I accept your opinion, and validate you. Have some Chibi-Usa.

21th century shit has sounded memey right from the cradle.
more importantly, why do older animes have better openings?

Wrong
Star wars BGM is still good to this day.
Classical music never becomes cheesy.
The same I could say for most of the Sailor Moon BGM scores. I can't say the same for the character songs.
Sailor Mars, Sailor Mars!
Star Wars' BGM was actually a throwback even when it was new- an homage to the scores Korngold wrote for 1930s serials, as well as early 20th Century music as a whole, with some music explicitly derivative of Holst.
That being said, this was a still a hit single back in the day.
>Hisses at it in RAGE!
That see you next week song always makes me happy.
Music in those days was better.
Everything about anime was better before the 2000s desu.
There are some very good see you next week songs:
