>Dick’s Sporting Goods CEO Edward Stack explained, “When we saw what happened in Parkland, we were so disturbed and upset. We love these kids and their rallying cry, ‘Enough is enough.’ It got to us.” >What if the credit card industry made it more difficult for people to purchase assault rifles, high-capacity magazines, and bump stocks, as the New York Times’ financial columnist has suggested? At Trillium, we thought the idea had so much merit that we are pressing banking and credit card companies to take action.
Is Ed Stack going to use his power of influence over other billionaire CEOs to encourage the selling off of gun stocks in investment portfolios?
This is ridiculous. I've never been into Dick's but now I see that there is absolutely no reason to go in. Also. Shouldn't this be in /pol?
Robert Clark
Good. Less people like Cerberus shitting up good brands to squeeze profit out of them and more "small" manufacturers.
Easton Morales
>people divest themselves from guns >demand still exists for guns >new companies come in to take advantage of demand
If we're really lucky, Freedom group dies in the process and Keltec becomes an AAA gun company.
Jack Ward
>debit and credit cards no longer used in firearm purchases >instead people almost exclusively buy and sell guns with cash I don’t have a problem with this
Liam Reyes
Fuck off
Alexander Reyes
Yeah, I don't think he thought that one through.
Charles Russell
If cake shops can be sued for discrimination for refusing to make gay marriage wedding cakes, how the fuck are credit card companies and banks not crossing the same line when they discriminate against people purchasing items that are legal and even protected by law?
I don't fucking understand this world anymore.
>inb4 these loud big business types are only encouraging a selloff so they can rally and buy low when the dust has settled
Leo Carter
>the jews start lowering your credit score because of how many gun purchases you have made
Easton Collins
Yet he owns NFA machine guns as an “investment”.
Joshua Kelly
I usually buy most of my guns with cash but I am fairly certain a large percentage of people do not.
Camden Parker
And they say paper cash has no place in this world. I literally just sat through a totally unexpected blizzard and blackout in the northeast and almost nobody had power. Cash was, is, and forever shall be king.
Andrew Hughes
dick's is a shit store and they always tried to be political.
what these retards don't realize is that a sporting good's store primary customer base aren't leftists. i sure as fuck won't shop at their garbage store again.
Jose White
That's exactly what they're doing. This is a calculated portfolio move. Ed Stack doesn't give two shits about children. Buy low sell high. Create an environment that would actually drive the prices lower once you've sold.
Cooper Gomez
Carrying more than like $300 in cash means it gets seized in civil asset forfeiture...if you get caught with it. The question is will banks tell the cops if you've made a withdrawal over that amount, under the presumption that you're going to buy guns with it?
Levi Baker
The minute my bank or credit card company tells me I can't use their service to buy a legal product is the minute I get a new bank and credit card company.
Brandon Ross
>tfw F&S keeps dumping their stock near me because they can't compete >don't want to give them business
Brayden Ortiz
>using credit cards Good goy
Josiah Parker
Dick's sells clothes that were made in a sweatshop, yet they care about kids?
David Cooper
>Good guy jew >Prevents patriotic Americans from being debt slaves by ruining their jew score card
Matthew Morris
"Haha what's that Ed? You want me to sell my stake in S&W. Well, okay then Ed!"
Jack Perry
Their customer base might not be leftists but probably mostly fudds and boomers who don't care about 'assault style rifles'. Companies that size usually have a fairly good idea about their customer base and only do such publicity stunts when they are certain that it will not hurt them.
Adrian Hall
The NRA can organize stock buys during the divestment, so that gun owners can become gun company owners. Some companies might go back to being family-run, some might become gun cooperatives. Wouldn't you like to have a say in what and how guns are being made?
As for banking, that's doable in a similar manner.
Ian Martinez
What commie shit hole do you live in that requires you tell a cop how much cash you have on your person?
Lincoln Moore
>Wouldn't you like to have a say in what and how guns are being made? If only. Who knows; all this gun grab business could spark a new generation.
Jose Davis
Cops take large amounts of cash if you're pulled over and they find it. If you're in a small town and know the police department personally, you probably don't have to worry about something like this, but cops can legally seize assets they deem to be for questionable purposes.
Chase Peterson
>2000 + 30 - 12 >not using credit cards
Jaxson Watson
Its pretty brain dead for a company that puts most of it stores in suburbs and more populated areas to go with the general will of the shit tier people who live there. The free press they got from the news channels saying how this was a major step while omitting they did so in sandy hook incedent before selling them again tells you all you need to know about the people in these box chain business. I wish i didnt shock me to hear that my coworkers were going to go to Dicks to buy things because of this "statment"
Michael Diaz
>Be a CEO of sporting goods chain >Actively campaign for removing "assault weapons" and preventing the purchase of magazines and guns via credit cards Is it actually possible to be this retarded and not choke to death on your own tongue?
Ian Nguyen
it's a /k/-related issue. so like user said, fuck off
Wyatt Jackson
Please kill yourself, kthx
Nathan Wilson
Nocreditcard here. Is is actually possible for a bank to say “no, you can’t use our card to buy X item”?
I don’t mean morally or legally, I mean is it physically possible?
Blake Sullivan
I dunno physically, but legally I'm pretty sure they would have moved beyond courting a lawsuit and advanced to proposing marriage to it.
Evan Cooper
>Make it impossible to buy guns with cards, or just have a huge tax when buying with cards >So anytime you want to buy a gun, you just stop by an ATM and withdraw the money in cash Great plan retards, you gonna make it illegal to withdraw cash?
Hunter Evans
Some banks don't let you purchase crypto using a debit or credit card, it's not as common in America though, it mostly seems like an issue in Australia and Europe.
Landon Williams
Yes.
Anthony Brooks
A lot of places will outright refuse to let you purchase property if you don't have a credit score, the Jewiness knows no limits.
Connor Scott
>it's MY money and I need it NOW
Nathaniel Mitchell
>"your bank" ATM requires the payment of a $100 convenience charge upon withdrawal with a maximum $100 withdrawal >Would you like to proceed?
Jacob Russell
OP here. Sup Forums is for faggots and this is pretty much entirely a gun market and stock market issue.
Ayden Sanders
Buying guns isn't illegal... Take them to court for that, they'd be fucked.
Jordan Green
I'm surprised DSG is still in business > $200 Noth face jackets >$30 exercise shirts > $150 pairs of running shoes > $800 ars before pulling them > $400 pump shotguns > $20 Bait and fishing lures
There is literally nothing that can be bought at DSG for significantly less online. While i hate this virtue signalling hypocrisy, any serious gun owner would never buy guns there. Maybe you could buy 12g target loads and clays in a pinch but everything in the store is borderline price gouging. The markup is rediculous. So bad I needed a hat to wear when fishing last summer, was in a pinch and went to DSG. A polyester made in China pos hat was like $40, fuck that I'll get a sunburn instead. Never been back. Walmart sucks but is cheaper.
Dylan Bailey
>Shouldn't this be in /pol? This pertains far more to gun and financial/market matters than race-bait troll threads and Canadian LARPers, and honestly the sooner you and the other retarded faggots who equate every single thing pertaining to rights and accessibility discussion as something only suited to Sup Forums learn that the better off this board will be. Or, alternatively, you and your ilk could just hurl yourselves into the path of a freight train. Either way, we win.
Carson Rogers
until you've bought a gun with it, the cops will always assume you are buying/selling drugs.
Levi Kelly
Honestly though, how many at /k/ has ever bought anything at Dick's or Field and Stream? I haven't, their selection is shit and their prices are awful.
Brayden Clark
I bought .22lr during the shortage. They were the only place that had any
Hunter Wright
That's not how that works. They can't just take large amounts of money from you. You have to have other contraband in the vehicle or on your person.
Charles Harris
I mean this as genuinely as possible (no memes)...kill yourself.
Joshua Hill
well yeah, hes wealthy and powerful, us fucking peasants need to know our place.
Lucas Hill
If they have probable cause (and can prove it in a court of law), they are taking your cash user.
Ian Hernandez
Technically speaking, they can, if they have strong suspicion that you are going to use that money to do something illegal. Granted, it doesn’t happen unless you’re being shady as fuck and have an extremely large amount. They aren’t going to bother you if it’s only a couple grand.
All that being said, all these “DA COPS ARE GONNA DO X” shit can be solved with one simple action: don’t drive like a retard you fucking mong
Tyler Brooks
I bought 2 bicycles from them about 4 years ago.
Juan Reyes
Are you a mod. If so, we need a single thread for gun control talk on /k/ 404 any other threads outside containmment thread
Tyler Morales
There isn't anything in the sticky that prohibits a thread like this, you illiterate baitposting faggot
Sebastian Mitchell
Anyone who shops there is the enemy.
Parker Thomas
You got ripped off. Dicks bikes have shit wheels with cast hubs and they won't stay true. Other parts are equally cheapened so they can undercut the competition but whatever you save, they cut the actual value by a much greater margin. t. Long time cycling enthusiast and former bike store employee
I actually got my first job building bikes at dicks while I was in school and had no idea what I was doing. As soon as I got good, jumped ship to a real bike store. Everything from the product to the price to the build quality is an illusion at Dicks.
Carter Edwards
On a couple of threads I saw that /pol mods have been banning people and now they are shitting up /k with their bullshit.
James Bell
I believe you. My reasoning at the time was “idk anything about bikes but these will surely be better than walmart’s“
Carson Sullivan
There wouldn't be any probable cause if you were not committing any other crimes you retard.
Levi Kelly
>how to collapse the bank overnight
Luis Gray
>with their bullshit. there are plenty of repeat threads you can go to instead of bumping this one with your worthless reply.
David Williams
>cops are good and only ever get bad when you commit crimes oh user...this isn't reddit
Matthew Martin
Boring bait been shark posting for months now, probably noguns too....
David Carter
OK I just won't buy using a credit card then. It'll save the store the hassle of the equipment for charges and the money on fees too. I don't use credit anyways, so joke's on them.
Hunter Scott
>make gunowners switch to cash purchases >even less paperwork on guns everyone wins!
Jason Martinez
This.
Asher Rivera
The Jewish banks are now threatening to prevent the goyim purchasing firearms with bank issued cards, but the JQ is just a conspiracy of course, nothing to see here goyim.
Ethan Evans
What a dumb movie.
Justin Thompson
Underrated, holy shit
Aaron Fisher
This is really just Dicks way out because who really buys their rifles from them anyways? Support your local gun store.
Jeremiah Long
The answer is easy, buy the dip. Make cash from your favorite manufacturers. Besides ruger and vista, what else is a good buy? Like hell im buying freedom group and colt though.
Leo Young
>Great plan retards, you gonna make it illegal to withdraw cash? Yes.
Easton Harris

Nicholas Gutierrez
kill yourself dumb furfag shark poster
Elijah Jenkins
I was at a dicks the other day and one of the saleman i was talking to told me they also had orders to pull anything that said AR on the box. this included cleaning kits for ar or hk rifles
Gavin Powell

Christian Cooper
>they are certain that it will not hurt them. well, we can only wait and see. i only ever walked into there once, never bought anything because shit selection. now i for sure wont be going back

Whatever he's doing was choreographed a while ago. Corporate America loves virtue signalling to itself.
some states have state troopers and local police depts that seize cash from innocent citizens on a regular basis
Nolan Young
Literally no one likes you or appreciates your efforts at backseat modding.
Brody Martin
fudds are literally a dying demo.
Ethan Gray
>Great plan retards, you gonna make it illegal to withdraw cash?
Eliminating cash and only letting people use traceable credit/debit cards has been an authoritarian's wet dream for years.
Not to mention, how are you going to buy guns online if your cc company won't let you transfer the funds?
Benjamin Harris
>What if the credit card industry made it more difficult for people to purchase assault rifles, high-capacity magazines, and bump stocks, as the New York Times’ financial columnist has suggested?
This happened after Sandy Vag. I don't remember if it was citi or chase, but they changed their mind after they started bleeding customers.
Jaxon Morales
are you referring to operation choke point?
Logan Jackson
...
Landon Morris
No this one was different
Hudson Baker
yeah. i would like to see them try any of this shit. would be funny as hell to see them lose half their customers if my bank pulled this shit i would be withdrawing all my money instantly and going to another bank also, fuck credit cards. i only buy with cash anyways
Daniel Allen
These are the same people pushing the cashless economy. If you don't see the problem you're not looking closely enough.
Jeremiah Powell
Their reward program is shit and their clothing is always a good 5-10 more than Amazon anyway. I'll take my business somewhere else.
Liam Campbell
I get a fraud alert call every single time I buy crypto - lake Michigan credit union -
Adrian Kelly
Idn how people they do that to don't figure out where the officer lives and do the community a big favor. Maybe my head ain't quite right though and most people don't get those urges when they've been robbed. .
Nolan White
Dick's fucking idiot of a CEO is shooting himself in the foot over political motives because he will be running for governor in Pa.
I worked at a Dicks as a summer job in 2014. The other guy that ran the gun counter with me was an older dude who worked in the financial sector before he retired and moved to my home town. He worked at Dick's because he was bored and had nothing better to do and pretty much predicted that this would happen.
The majority of Dicks' income does not come from normal sporting equipment, it comes from firearms, ammo, and related sales. The "Lodge" section of the store is how the company stays afloat for the most part. That's how it is for the majority of branches outside of large urban areas with strict gun laws. I was working there at the same time they liquidated most of their golf inventory. Millions of dollars worth of golfing equipment was sold for practically nothing and the pros that worked at the stores were fired and replaced with normal associates who wouldn't know a driver from a 3 wood if they were savagely beaten with it. Why did Dick's do this? It's because their buisness model is absolute ass. They made wholesale deals with the titans of the golfing industry without taking a look at the actual interest in golf as a sport, which is fading.
It also doesn't help that their finances are a bit out of whack. Dick's net income has been shrinking since about 2015 and their expenses have been increasing for the past four years. If Dick's put their money where their mouth is and get rid of all firearms sales like they are preaching about they will go out of buisness. Nobody in their right mind walks into a Dick's and buys any of the clothing that isn't on sail unless they are really in a pinch. It's all overpriced for what you can find at competing retailers.
My favorite thing to come out of this whole shitstorm is Delta dumping it's miniscule NRA discount and losing $40 million in tax breaks because of it.
Nolan Edwards
lets stop giving bad people good ideas.
Liam Lopez
he can but i m pretty sure for every company that stop selling the company that keep selling will see increase in profit since their concurence withdrew and in 5 months the one that stop selling will desperatly be looking for profits again.
