a girl that's smart enough to do multi variable calculus on the fly sounds nice, but that kind of smart comes with depression. she often has crazy depressive episodes and that doesn't make a relationship fun. When you want to do something but all she wants is wrap herself in a blanket staring at a screen in a dark room for days gets old real quick. Medicine for depression also makes her pretty much asexual at times and that's not fun either.
Taking care of a cute girl that wants to be loved sounds nice. But in reality she unloads a lot of her problems onto you, seeing someone in a very depressed state eventually taints your own soul. And she drags you down into her depressive spiral. Eventually, you just have to get out or the relationship will evolve into a suicide pact.

I would have to say the same. While Gosick felt a bit more substantial because there was an actual plot, Dantalian got points for rad cinematography, great OST, cool mystical things, and not going full retard at the ending. Oh, and a MC that wasn't a huge bitch. We need more MCs like Huey.
