From a tactical point of view Poland doesn't need so much tanks to successdully fend off Russia, same applies to most of north-east Europe. What they need is lots of mobile artillery, anti-air and anti-tank missiles instead.
It is not the 1930s anymore - you cant steamroll into east Europe with tanks due to the flat terrain, they're ineffective and easy targets.

As someone who's been in the US Army since 2005 and just had a recent tour across Eastern Europe in the last year (was in Romania's gypsy parts most of time un-fucking-fortunately), I'll just say that the fighting capacity of NATO is not all that it seems. It's rather a joke and only glued together with most of the contributors attributing jackshit. There's a good reason why all the Anglo powers (US, UK, Canada) are leading 3 out of 4 of the battlegroups in the Baltics. Russian's aren't jokes and if a battle were to wage even with conventional weaponry, it'd be so demoralizing especially the civilian resistance by Russians of any offensive into their homeland. How many of the lesser NATO powers would commit to this in the long run?
