Why do libertarians defend the privatization of statist institutions projects like roads, prisons, welfare, and the military? Is this not an inherent contradiction and why "muh roads" inevitably comes up?

>the FEMA prisons dont exist
>let's abolish these brand new prisons leased to FEMA.

FEMA has prisons?

Almost all "private prisons" are leased to fema as staging areas for immigrants.

Notice what side of the country they are on? Real prisoners are garuanteed certain rights that most private prisons do not garuntee. But illegals have no rights. Alex jones was saying this 20 fucking years ago.

This much is true, but why is this defended by libertarians if the goal is truly to resist statist tyranny?

No true libertarians defend fema camps. We were being labeled as crazy arguing against them as they were built. That's what my first post was trying to convey. We were the first people sounding the alarm but now you have changed their names and they are new.

Private prisons would work, but not for criseses.

Because if the government tries to throw you in government prison, they have the sovereign right and police power to do so.

If a private company comes and tries to throw me in probate prison they get a face full of buckshot.

Can I not believe in a mixed economy?

Private prisons are used by the state.

libT's defend privatization of public utilities?

since when?

>No true Scotsman
Plenty of libertarians defend it by deflecting and saying they wouldn't be a problem if it weren't for x, y, or z.
This becomes an issue when the private company lobbies the government to have the police and courts send people to these prisons. Debtors prisons are making a comeback under the same principle of using the state police to arrest people that have outstanding debt, and that's a helpless situation.

This article argues against the current practice, but ends with a defense that the concept is valid.

And on Reason there's more deflection and obfuscation on the issue without outright denouncing private prisons as an inherent contradiction.

The problem is that these institutions throw money at politicians to make laws to lock more people up and get more people on welfare.

This is corruption and they should be thrown in prison instead they lead the democrat and republican parties.

I'm not a libertarian, but the reason they want it is because, hypothetically it should be more efficient at managing scarce resources that have alternate uses. Government agencies tend to, in time, operate in their own interest, regardless of the needs of the public/market. This creates a bloated bureaucracy that spends little of it's allocated budget towards its actual purpose and the public good.

We Want An Immediate End To Police Brutality And the Murder Of Black, Brown & All Oppressed People

Every 28 hours a black person in the United States is killed by someone employed or protected by the government of the United States. Other communities are also criminalized, targeted, attacked and brutalized. We want an immediate end to state sanctioned violence against our communities
We Want Full Employment For Our People

Every individual has the human right to employment and a living wage. Inability to access employment and fair pay continues to marginalize our communities, ready us for imprisonment, and deny us of our right to a life with dignity
We Want Decent Housing Fit For The Shelter Of Human Beings

Our communities have a human right to access quality housing that protects our families and allows for our children to be free from harm.
We Want an End to the School to Prison Pipeline & Quality Education for All

We want an end to policies that criminalize our young people as well as discriminatory discipline practices that bar access to quality education. Furthermore, we want all children to be able to access free, quality education. Including free or affordable public university.
We Want Freedom from Mass Incarceration and an End to the Prison Industrial Complex

We want an end to the over policing and surveillance of our communities. This will hasten an end to the criminalization of black and brown people and hyper incarceration everywhere. Policing in the United States has historically helped to enforce racist laws, policies and norms. The result is a massive prison industrial complex built on the warehousing of black people. We call for the cessation of mass incarceration and the eradication of the prison industrial complex all together. In its place we will address harm and conflict in our communities through community based, restorative solutions

This nigger is back.

prison industrial complex and the military industrial complex. Fucking scams. They increase the destruction of minority societies then build prisons to house them at the taxpayer's expense.

>This is corruption and they should be thrown in prison instead they lead the democrat and republican parties.
fucking this

>They increase the destruction of minority societies then build prisons to house them at the taxpayer's expense.
Absolutely. They're housed and paid peanuts by the hour for corporations that have deals with the government. At least under slavery the master had to provide for his slaves to survive, but now that tax payer does that.

Who is going to arrest people and put them in private prisons when there are no more police? You need a government empowered to arrest in order to imprison someone. No more government, no more police = no more prisons.

Another problem solved by Libertarian principles! (You're welcome.)

Why do you think the crime rate is much lower today? Because so many people are locked behind bars. It's the only reason the crime rate is lower than the 80s.

Every prisoner I ever talked to told me about how they bused and flew his ass all over the country switching the damned prison he was n and picking up and dropping off fuckheads in between.

So the scam is way bigger than any of you imagine

The farmers get pissed when ya drive through their cornfields.

>libertarians
That's a meme son.

They only do that shit for the real criminals to keep the gangs from solidifying. Most people in fed spend.their entire sentence in the same prison, state it's 2.5 but that's because most the nigger criminals are state.

The fact of the matter is that it is illegal o house most convicts in these prisons and they house predominantly illegal aliens.

Really activates those almonds.

Registered lifelong Libertarian here, I am against private prisons. Not sure why there are so many bizarre misconceptions about us. Private prisons have a financial incentive to incarcerate. There is no private demand for incarceration. Government exists to remove perverse market incentives. It's not a difficult concept, guys.

>There is no private demand for incarceration.
What about the extremely cheap labor and keeping people out of the communities to do business in?

Purely a result of government shenanigans, which is another reason Libertarians are against private prisons. A libertarian society does not tolerate slavery for the same reason it does not tolerate rape or murder.

Privatization is less expensive and more efficient 100% of the time if corruption does not rig the bidding process.

The privatization of prisons has a problem because these private entities now have an incentive for crime rates to increase as it means more business for them.

That is ironically, private prisons will lobby the government to become more statist and legislate more laws so there are more prisoners and thus more profit to the private prisons.

Go live in Africa.

Because they own companies who build them or at least have shares at those companies

I'm pretty fucking libertarian but Christ I think we need a constitutional amendment against this shit.
