I don't get it? Am I missing something here? This show was meant to be a "sleeper hit" and everyone here praises it, but its just cute girls doing cute things, again and again with very little development and nothing really happens.
Its produced for kids under the age of 10. what am I missing here?
>what am I missing here? Nothing. Your IQ most likely exceeds 90 and therefore you're not impressed by a show for literal 5 year olds.
Julian Gonzalez
Your pic is missing best Friend, Shoebill.
Oliver Walker
It's the Dark Souls of anime. The story isn't told through exposition, but through the viewing experience.
Benjamin Kelly
Does Kaban have rights? Will she be given her own fake city as a zoo attraction?
Daniel Jones
How human is Kaban? Is she half sandstar and half human hair follicle?
Luke Robinson
If you watched the entire show and the only thing you got out of it was CGDCT then you watched it incorrectly.
Ryder Phillips
>what am I missing here? It's very poor mans 2hu, and already dead.
Noah Lopez
That's more or less what it is. KF has a little bit going on behind the scences, but fundamentally it's a CGDCT adventure series.
Ryder Edwards
>with very little development and nothing really happens Next time before shitposting try watching the show first.
Grayson Bennett
CGDCT means there is literally nothing going on beyond cute girls doing cute things. It's a catch all term used to describe shows that don't really fit into any genre besides SoL. Just because there are cute girls doesn't mean it's CGDCT. Kemono Friends is an adventure series.
Kayden Lee
Dude it's a road trip adventure with cute animal girls that behave more animalish than 95% of their peers.
It's cute but there is both a small sense of adventure and wonder and some good fucking character development, seriously Kaban went from near worthless to remarkably useful and bold in just 11 episodes without asspulls.
Also this show has some heart and thought put into it, on the first episode they mentioned how humans are actually good at a couple of things, our stamina is basically cheating for most animals when we were hunters it's quite an awesome thing most people forget when talking about our place in the natural world, they also featured some obscure animals and that was kinda cute in a nostalgic way.
It looks like shit but there is actually some heart to it, it's also super upbeat and straightforward wich are weird things to find in Anime nowadays.
Elijah Jones
I watched it after seeing all the fuss Seriously I'm not sure why they think a new director couldn't do what the old one did The show isn't that complicated
Connor Campbell
It's a show for kids that works also for adults, comes from a humble director, made in a poor animation studio, a little bit of post-apocalyptic lore, and finally, nobody expected anything from this ugly show for children, it's not a show that pretends to be a success in sales.
That's it, people are not that dumb. We can recognize when a show is poor but it's made with love or when it's made only with money in mind.
Angel Bell
It's praised because it was so much better than expected. It's a very nice show, but if you expect too much you'll be disappointed.
James Taylor
>He doesn't know that a show having cute girls is all it takes for basement-dwelling anons on Sup Forums to like it
By any chance are you a newfag?
Cooper Taylor
There arnt basements where i live
Isaiah Brooks
See /mlp/. Pure autism and pornography, defended by people like and who say its for adults too.
Adrian White
Posted this in the other thread, so I'll sage my post.
It's the shock factor.
This show wasn't supposed to be good. It didn't look very good, sound very good, was as simple as a PBS show, and was headed by nobodies. All signs indicated this would be garbage, and the first episode not being great furthered this impression. As such, when the show started softly blind siding the audience with its actual charms, its competence, and its sense of genuine passion, it hit the audience in a vital, soft spot and reeled them in. As well, it seems to have hit adult's childhood wonder in a way other series have not. I've seen many anons feeling waves of nostalgia for old documentaries, and their past interest in animals while watching the show.
Finally, the story behind the series attached them even further. 10 guys spending 500 days in an apartment animating a TV series with ramen for pay, while a cliche and maybe an exaggeration, captivated the audience further. It was an underdog story, and people love those.
Jose Robinson
I find this line of reasoning strange, when PreCure, PriPara and Aikatsu exists and has a much more significant presence on Sup Forums than KF has.
Also, your second link calls the show a kid's show. It also later aired on a children's slot after it hit big. Some people will argue that it's not, but they're not in this thread.
Nathaniel Campbell
Don't quote me if you don't even know how to read.
Not an argument. Either you're the guy who literally said it's for adults too or you're the guy who wrote a fucking essay about how great a children's show is.
Lincoln Green
KF is one of the few threads where people will get mad at you if you want to fuck the girls.
Ian Roberts
I still remember that one time where there was a small shitstorm about whether people should be discussing porn books in the thread, with a good number trying to kick it out of there.
Turns out they were right, futa-dicks killed KF!
Carson Edwards
Not an argument for you too, I suppose. It's not fucking hard to understand.
It's a show made for children that also adults can like it even if it's not for them != a show made for kids and adults.
Shin-Chan is another example.
Ayden Young
it's just meant to be a healing/calming show. it's really good at doing that. it's a niche that it did a good job at filling
Parker Torres
Do you realize that most of KF fags don't lewd the friends?
They are too busy shitposting about animals and silly shit that they often forget to lewd.
Don't compare it to the miniature horse show, we aren't fucking with tulpamancy or drawing porn nonstop, we neither have silly nicknames nor go full Jojo on other people. If you want a real equivalent of MLP go and bark at the Jojo fandom.
Lucas Butler
Wait, OP, have you finished it?
The end is really amazing
Mason Allen
You got memed
Charles Phillips
>just uh huh
Kevin Young
SUGOI! YOU'RE A FRIEND WHO SUFFOCATED HIS INNER CHILD WITH CYNICISM AND PSEDO-INTELLECTUAL BS WHAT'S IT LIKE IN REDDITARI PARK?
Brandon Wilson
a cursed post
David Young
>PSEDO-INTELLECTUAL >CYNICISM I dont get the impression you know what those words mean.
What was your experience watching Kemono Friends for the first time user?
Blake Collins
>but its just cute girls doing cute things That's all it needs to get praised around here.
Grayson Davis
I still haven't. I'll get to it eventually. Before the year ends at least.
Jason Bell
I thought it would suck and then it didn't and I was very happy that I was able to visit Japari Park for a brief moment in time.
Aiden Nguyen
It has a lot of subtle and complex themes. War, industrialization, coming together to defeat a common foe, habitat destruction, existentiality, the list goes on and on.
If all you took away from Kemono Friends was "cute girls" then you are a 60 IQ brainlet or edgy teenager.
Nathan Fisher
I've only watched it once. It left me feeling strangely calm. I think it's the only cute girls doing cute things anime I've ever finished.
Connor Brooks
If it ever happens it won't be the S2 everyone expected, that's for sure.
Jose Perez
I saw this show and it was pretty fine. It start cute, it stay cute, but the more you watch, the more dark it become as the world build itself.
Still I wanna know: How come all the friends, including Kaban, are FEMALE? I want that question answered in season two.
Christopher Reyes
no just delayed
Jeremiah Hernandez
>Industrialization >Habitat destruction Niether of these are touched on.
Michael Bennett
Sandstar turns everything into females, even if they were male before. I think it's explained in the manga. Female lions and female moose don't have manes or antlers.
Justin Johnson
>How come all the friends, including Kaban, are FEMALE? Because Sandstar has good taste. And no one wants boys in their cute girl anime.
Josiah King
Yeah I guess 5 year olds watch a lot of shows that air at 2am, huh?
Jose Jenkins
I feel like this is a bait thread to attract shitposters.
Jaxon Brown
Nothing. I fell for the meme too, it's just a show for literal children with some incredibly small amounts of plot and dogshit production values.
Ian Foster
The bigger plot is supposed to be inferred, not explained, a la Dark Souls.
Angel Edwards
As far as industrialization goes I'd be typing a literal essay nobody would care about
Ceruleans are an allusion to habitat destruction however
Evan Green
I'm talking about the implicit as well as the explicit.
James Ward
Its because it was animated with badly cgi and a totally who that made it profitable towards otaku audience Outside of that, yeah its another generic moeblob with cute girls doing cute things but what can you expect from japanese tastes?
Ryan Sanders
>Still I wanna know: How come all the friends, including Kaban, are FEMALE?
Don't think we're going to get an explanation for that other than "Sandstar is a mysterious thing" in the show. But if you want the actual reason: Because Yoshizaki Mine didn't want to draw dudes, and insisted on keeping all friends female.
Oliver Richardson
Kemono Friends was not complex and if you thought it was complex you are dumb. It had an enchanting premise, a lot of themes executed well, and managed to dodge a bunch of the pitfalls that afflict shows about a bunch of girls.
Noah Sullivan
There are plenty of examples of shows like this that are posted about constantly on Sup Forums. The low production quality just makes it endearing to watch, and the catalog of girls that comes with it makes it great for fanart.
Eli Howard
I dunno, I liked the bits of breadcrums the show laid about the nature of the park, and why it is the way it is during the show.. It's not much, but just enough to spark the imagination and get the mind curious about what was going on and why.
Oliver Carter
Sandstar just makes everything it touches into female humanoid versions of it.
Emperor penguin and used to be male, other friends like her did talk about male only behavior like her but are now living as a female humanoid version of the animal they once were.
Sandstar also revives and restores tissue such examples come from fossilized remains and mounted animals as shown with some of those, if prevented with tissue of an extinct animal it will create a version of the friend with dull eyes.
Sandstar can affect machinery with high level AI such as the Tachikomas and the Lucky Beasts.
Sandstar can even act on cryptids and build them a body, such as the Tsuchinoko, Skyfish and Kitsune, the Shisas also became friends.
Finally Alien lifeforms can transform into humanoid beings once they come in contact with sandstar.
Sandstar has a preference on humanoid form and mostly acts on Animalia chordata to create friends.
Ceruleans seem to come from inorganic substances interacting with sandstar, they normally seek the spark/mojo of living beings and are scavenging for sandstar to keep their body mass as they normally degrade, if a cerulean gets that spark they can become self sustainable and can exhibit higher grades of intelligence and adaptation, flying Ceruleans, Hunter Ceruleans, machinery Ceruleans and then peaking on Cerval wich had full sentience and gained a spark on her own or the Cerulean Queen wich could be described as a computer of sorts.
Carson Campbell
If someone makes a 2nd KF thread you'll get accused of spamming the board and get shitposters nonetheless. I'm not sure which is worse.
Connor Lopez
You know well what those words means.
Hunter Moore
reclination complete
Aiden Allen
Nah, it only was mentioned directly in the game and in setting information. Even in the game it only was actually brought up directly for the Keroro crossover.
Colton Diaz
I think the OP is a fair question, and the opinions I see in the thread are nothing inflammatory or disrespectful. Just because some people say they don't like the show, doesn't mean the fans are being attacked.
I find it interesting to see what other people think, even if a lot of it is "It's a moeblob" or "mlp!"
Ryder Powell
I just rewatched the video of Oishi Masayoshi interpreting the OP. It feels so nostalgic even though it was only 6 month ago. youtube.com/watch?v=K3myqnKgegY
Tyler Collins
I wonder... How OLD is Serval anyway?
Colton Perry
To all you people dismissing this show as a "kid's show" and all the people who watch it manchildren for justifying how good a kid's show is: Nobody is denying that this show is childish. Nobody is denying that it also makes a great show for children. The point is the fact that it's childish is not a bad thing. It's part of the appeal. Too many people forget what it's like to be a child. The sense of innocence, discovery, and fun that invokes childhood nostalgia is what makes this show great. Compare it to mlp if you want. I don't like it, but I know that that's exactly the same reason why people watch it.
Carson Sullivan
Those people are just gay though. It was not the futa dicks that killed KF, but rather their desire to talk about something other than dicks. I guess someone couldn't resist the allure of the monkey paw.
Josiah Phillips
I refuse to call something a horse fucker tier fandom unless they go full Jojo or go balls deep into tulpamancy.
Seriously, very few things can be as bad as that fandom trying to make everything related to it.
Gabriel Watson
The thing is that this show was made with both children and adults in mind, not teenagers. That fact alone explains a lot.
Oliver Collins
Her fur patterns and personality indicate that she was a kitten when she became a Friend. Friends are ageless, though. They are probably mostly in their early to late teens, physically.
Colton Clark
>Emporer Penguin used to be male >Emporer Penguin has the lewdest outfit and biggest breasts Hmmm....
Juan Butler
I'm 18 and I like it quite a bit.
Alexander Jenkins
Apparently she is a Kitten, there are other Serval designs that are for older Servals.
Zachary Taylor
Yes, but that's like, the minimum.
Jacob Garcia
The posters making one-liners full of buzzwords are what I call shitposters. Of course if you didn't like the show and want to discuss it there's nothing wrong with that. If you're interested in the opinion of non-fans, I suggest you check the thread that was titled something like 'Kemono Friends thread for non-Kemono Friends fans'. It was posted a few days ago and it's pretty interesting to see non-fans discussing the show between themselves without shit-flinging between them and the fans. I don't expect much of that in this thread thanks to the shit OP.
Alexander Gomez
It's enough to make it compelling.
Ryder Wood
Did he ever comment about this whole incident aside from his tweet a while back?
Jayden Myers
>with very little development Kaban starts off as insecure, easily frightened, and convinced that she's not good at anything. Her confidence clearly builds throughout the series as she's praised and encouraged until she reaches a point where she's confident enough to venture to a new island on her own.
Likewise, despite being overwhelmingly friendly, Serval is implied to have spent most of her time alone prior to meeting Kaban. She becomes attached to Kaban to the point of leaving the park to be with her and additionally conquers her fear of fire and utilizes what she's learned from Kaban in order to save her. You don't have to like the show by any means, but I don't see how you can deny that there was very clear development for the characters, and even the park's community as a whole.
Christopher Howard
Emperor's dialogue also implied she used to be a dad
Jeremiah Smith
That's the idea. It's not enough to make you feel like it's important, just that something happened at some point.
Jose Foster
I always guess 12-13 when the subject actually comes up. Not only is she patterned on a Serval kitten, but body wise she looks like she's only "budding", so to say. Part of this may be due to Tats using a template model for the Friends (Many of them have similar body types), though, but even looking at the guidebook page about the different Serval generations, anime Serval looks the youngest.
Isaac Gonzalez
Serval looks to be about 16.
Alexander Sanchez
HOT DAD BOD
Jordan Gray
Furries are sick people, there is nothing to understand
Jaxon Richardson
>Furries Animal girls are not furries, newfag.
Adrian Murphy
>very little development and nothing really happens Watch the show
This. The main characters have very little use or need for more information of the world as one is a former cat and the other is a newly born human
Mason Gomez
As an actual furry I can speak with some authority. Friends are by no stretch of the imagination "furry"
Chase Parker
Got damn I just watched Zegapain ADP and that's exactly what happened
Angel Clark
Keep telling yourself that
Lincoln Miller
I remember, and liked that thread a bit. It is neat to see opinions from outside folk that isn't just spewing buzzwords and anons getting mad about average Sup Forums behavior. It's rare, yes, but I think it's something that the group needs, as to not make these threads an echo chamber that's unable to accept any sort of criticism concerning the show. Being easy pickings for trolls is often a sign of a crappy fanbase.
Besides, we need another subject to talk about that's not the Blue Pheonix.
Alexander Powell
chester cheetah is furry. tony the tiger is furry. inuyasha isnt
