Made in Abyss

Lets talk about how Orth survives.
We know they have an inifnite supply of clean water and we know they get their meat from the hole.
Are they entirely self sufficient or do you think there's something that the Abyss can't provide them?

Wasn't it established that it's pretty much an international trading hub

>and we know they get their meat from the hole
They don't have ranches or farms down in the hole and there clearly aren't enough wild animals roaming around to support the whole town.

They are probably just basically some major island metro like Singapore where all the food and supplies are imported because everybody on the planet is fascinated by the Abyss and its relics.

I mean they have that cluster of medical ships outside the ring, so I'm assuming therey're not entirely self sufficient. They apparently need the money if they're selling artifacts.

How do you think the sewage system works? Do they dump it in the pit?

Orth looks pretty dense, so they probably need good infrastructure for that kind of stuff.

They sell artifacts to buy food/equipment/sacrificial babies

Good news. We utterly demolished the AOTS thread.

Dump it in the ocean

Guess nobody swims around Orth then.

I still don't get how the fifth layer works

It's a floating ocean. It makes about as much sense as the rest of the abyss.

But how the ocean stays on top of Idofront and how it doesn't flood the sixth layer

>he didn't read the manga in full color
That's what you get from being a filthy EOP

Its a floating ocean, that's why it doesn't flood the sixth.

Lets be fair: Other than this and maybe PP, there wasn't much great this season.

Abyss forcefield. Ain't gotta explain shit.

Stop this meme.

>Food and Water

There seems to be many sources of fresh water in village, I'd imagine they'd have central wells or some kind of aqua duct distribution system. As for food, they clearly have a port/ports and boats from what we saw at the caravan, they must fish a lot. They can also hunt and fish for meat withing the first layer of the abyss. Given that they have windmills and water wheels I assume they have access to grain. they may farm some kinds of plants in staggered rice paddy style or on flat land in the first layer. They could also get regular shipments of grain and other food traded for relics or purchased with money from selling relics.

>Other than this and maybe PP
PriPri had potential but is a bit overrated by their S2 hopefuls. There are better shows.

I'd say the outer mouth of the Abyss is where they grow their rice/wheat.

They're surounded by a sea, senpai. I don't think that's freshwater flowing through the city. If it is, there must be a mass filtration system, or the water flowing into the hole is actually seawater going under the city.
If that's the case, the water being supplied to the decorative water ways might be the artifact that produces water, which would have to be somewhere central, pushing the water along the city via aqueducts or some other means.

So the abyss grants your hearts desire? Nanachi wanted to smell nice and be... fluffy?

There are relics that produce water. It's not far fetched to think its fresh.

>He isn't watching the second season on the secret stream

like what?

>Materials and power

They must have to import a lot of lumber from overseas (again by selling relics) or they harvest wood from the first layer. I can't imagine there would be enough to sustain the whole town from within and hauling it up from the second layer would be too much. Same idea for things like coal, iron, stone and clay, if blue whistles hunt and do other jobs in the upper layers I'd imagine there must be some decent places to set up mines or quarries. Like with lumber I think they;d have to import a lot of materials. specifically copper, or aluminium for their electricity.

Also what I'm thinking is the lower part of orth, the slums/wharf area was built mostly with wood because there used to be moth more tress in the first layer and around the rim where the city is now. They were chopped down and as lumber ran out and the town started to become prosperous they could/had to build out of more stone and metal.

Power is probably generated by the water wheels and windmills, maybe coal. If they used coal they'd almost certainly have to be importing it. I'm not very knowledgeable on how antiquated electrical grids worked but it's clearly very primitive if the draw from what may potentially be a single mass produced robot is enough to suck the whole city dry. it's good for lighting and maybe running some motors.

If that were the case all that water flowing down in the abyss would be salt water and you would have no way of drinking anything down there.

You'd have to have a relic that could convert salt water to fresh water and that has never been mentioned in the show or the manga.

There's no way the have the technology to desalinate enough water for everyone to survive.

>Orth is a prefix meaning straight, upright, or vertical
Neat

So for tech are we looking at like an early 20th century kind of level here?

>Economy

All centered around the exportation of relics and importation of goods. Relics and monetary value buy goods and services within the city.

The guild seems to have a hand in everything that involves cave delving. I'd imagine they are granted power by Orth's government. Be it individuals or entities like the orphanage it seems like everyone must be registered with guild to get their support with equipment, training, status recognition, and to even be allowed to cave delve legally.

Certain relics can be auctioned off by the people that found them, the guild may receive a cut of the money like a tax. But I'd imagine for special grade relics they either receive them without question or they buy them from the people who find them.

Relics that are sold publicly change hands and layers of distribution put money in people's hands but the really money flows into the city when the relics are shipped offshore.

Orth may also receive support from countries that have benefited from receiving a special grade relic from them.

>got a boner during the Prushka flashback scene
I feel so fucking dirty.

they probably make millions of fantasy dollars by selling horrifying abyssal weapons of mass genocide (and various other magical nick-knacks) to the other countries of the world

Do you guys think Nanachi smells good??

where the hell did you get heart's desire from? that doesnt sound right at all

Probably smells like a barnyard animal with a lot of shit stuck in her fur.

just wait til you get to the sixth layer, hadimae

...

For what purpose?

nanachi is so special because what she values is mitty

So what's at the bottom of the abyss? Portal to some kind of other world? Cthulhu? Another abyss? Planet's core? Nothing?

Of course, we're outright told she does.

Only the narehate in narehate village got that option. Narehate made in the "old way" at the temple or sacred grounds or whatever they call the Idofront aren't given an option.

The village is some fucking surreal shit.

I miss my wife mark...

Al of this makes me wonder what the outside world is like.
If motherfuckers are walking around with relics, or rather the government is using relics, why isn't it super heavily relegated by a militaristic force or something or other?

take your pills billy

Do they have firearms? They know what gunpowder is but all the divers seem to be using pickaxes and crossbows, or at best, a relic. If they have electricity, and understand what gunpowder is, then youd think they would have firearms. Unless the gunpowder and the electricity too are from relics and artifacts.

Would it be accurate to say Bondrewd is basically based off Josef Mengele in some shape or form since both experimented on children and believed that to make scientific progress sacrifices must be made. In both cases being children for the most part.

Oh definitely.
Needless to say, Mengle experimented for the sake of likely killing faster and better, while Boneboy experimented for the sake of getting passed the abyss, death was just a side effect of his work.

Why aren't the rich arabs funding S2?

What a coincidence! My boyfriend is also called Mark!

Thanks Google translate.

Am I a healthy straight man if I like Mark?

nah, every character that meets her says she smells good. The "blessing" is to become what you desire most. Nanachi wanted to become a bune girl that smells good

Yeah the urchin in her flashback said she stinks.

hello my friends
is this show worth watching/reading? i just watched the first episode and it was alright but i've heard good things about it. only reason i'm questioning continuing it is that my internet is awful so it would take quite a while to download

>Kevin's music sucks ass

What else is new?

nah m8 google mistranslated it

Just read the manga then m8.

No, the anime and manga both fucking suck. Get the fuck out of this thread, you stupid faggot.

@162987339

No. It's shit.

Technically, "terrible" and "terrific" mean the same thing, "causing terror". I'm surprised that the translation made that mistake, though.

You're a moron.

>Sales in Abyss

How do we rescue this anime?

>download
If it's really that bad then just watch a stream of it.
Alternatively download episodes while reading the manga.

Why aren't bonedads suitcase lolis affected by the curse is technically they're still alive being a brain and spinal cord in a box? Shouldn't his stack melt away after he uses one to prevent the curse from hitting him self?

Why do Japs have such shit tastes?

I think that's kind of the think. They are affected, it's more just like he's wearing a miniature version of what the elevator was supposed to be on his back.
So he goes up, and the curse is transferred to the canister.

I feel like Japan's anime, manga, and merchandise market have been perfectly sculpted so that literally anything containing a waifu will sell no matter what.
Given that, it would make sense that most of the crap that you see or that succeeds is the same shit every year.

Of course that's just all just speculation that could very well be wrong, but I'd think there's at least some truth to it.

There are no shores and beaches neiher around the island

They are all affected, but who said you can only be cursed once? Remember the effect of the 6th floor is losing one's humanity OR death. Basically, each cartridge can only take a certain amount of curses. Ascending anywhere consumes 1 curse level, and acting as a cartridge consumes 2 curse levels (one extra for bonedaddy). Once they become overcursed they die and can no longer be used. That's why carrying multiple cartridges is still advantageous.

If you lived there would you guys want to be delvers? First layer looks comfy as hell for a hike but second onwards may as well be hell.

all the online translators I tried translate terrific wrong into Russian. It's interesting that it does the same for the Japanese phrase.

they do melt and he discards them, what are you on about?

If I lived in Orth, I would probably become a delver because of the immense sense of curiousity.

But shouldn't all the cartridges be affected at the same time, thus having all the same amount of uses to ascend the abyss? Or does it come down to the individual in the cartridge

My best guess is that there's multiple factions within the city each representing a different power in the mainland.
Most likely there's also some sort of agreement on making the city a neutral ground and avoid waging wars over it, though there's still a lot of spying and smuggling going on, which would explain why the slums' existence is tolerated.
As for the city itself I'd imagine they hold a lot of power since a single artifact can decide the course of a war, I wouldn't be surprised if the Abyss Faith held a lot of power considering most artifacts are literally pocket miracles.
I think of it as a mix between an italian mercantile city a the holy capital.

I'd be too much of a fucking pussy.

>they do melt and he discards them, what are you on about?
He's carrying them all at once, and when he goes up, they all do. So they should all be affected at the same time. Thus bonedad should only be able to use one or all of them one time only. Since they are technically still alive living being in a box.

A question from an animeonly fag: why do people even descend on foot when that masked dude had an elevator going all the way down to the sixth(or was it fifth) layer? What is the purpose of Ozen's hub if anyone can just ride the damn elevator

Dude, I'd dedicate my entire life to becoming a white whistle. Bleeding from every orifice doesn't even seem that bad once you get used to it. I'd probably become an abyssal neet like Bondrewd and Ozen and make my own comfy base on one of the layers to fuck around in all day. Think I'd go for the fourth, it's the most beautiful.

Almost no store in akihabara has a complete selection of volumes 1-6, and people have to go to multiple stores to get 1-6.
Meanwhile, I have all 6

I'll trade you my kidney

>Or does it come down to the individual in the cartridge
Of course it does. That's why some cartridges die sooner than others.

What if the machine shifts the curse off of ALL of the cartridges+bonedude onto the active cartridge. When the active cartridge is spent it ejects and the next one takes the brunt of the curse from Boner and the other cartridges. continue ad infinitum

Chapter 43 this month confirmed?

What does Nanachi's butthole smell like?

It smells good doesn't it?

What about the taste huh? I bet it taste delicious that sweet bunny butthole, mmhmm.

huh
Well dispense some sort of liquid. Maybe the reason he gets rid of all the extra bits is so that they are at the literal end of the definition of being alive, and therefore they are not effected by the curse that much.
I mean if that's what it takes to not be effected by the curse - to be stuffed in a crtridge with almost literally everything about you removed - then that's not really beating the curse.
And they are in cartridge form either out of convenience or because that's what it actually takes for them to work.

They're obviously dispensing some kind of soup that makes the thing work.

ah that, well they are heavily drugged or missing most organs that they don't get affected by curse, or at least it doesn't kill them fast enough before he needed them.

that makes a lot of sense too

yes

now that's some high-tech curse-shifting hardware.

It's a tram, not an elevator. Boner built it specifically to get kids down there unharmed and he was kinda famous for it. Pioneering a new way into the deepest regions of the abyss. But it's not the sort of thing that makes 2 trips a day. It had to be protected by people on foot and there were accidents. Prushka

Also the whole point of the abyss is to search for treasure, you can't really do that inside a cage

If they're all dispensing curse-repellent at once, and they just pop off once thy're done, then it really makes a big impact that Prushka's was the one that held on the longest.

>They're obviously dispensing some kind of soup that makes the thing work.
user, the kids ARE the soup

With volume 6 only having 4 chapters, how is it as long as all the other volumes?

Excellent. No delays pls, tsukushi.
