does eating a snake have a certain meaning in Japan?

...

No. It's a conventional wildlife survival thing.

Man who kills manga

End scene.

Whoa, did Doppo get eyebrow implants?

mai boi is alive!

R.I.P. Pickle

survival and such

Guts in Berserk did it too

>Guts in Berserk did it too
That was my thought; I just didn't want to say it out loud. Partly because the memory it evoked was of the anime, and of the clang rabbit.

I didn't watch the anime so I don't have memories of it.

this just about summarizes the anime in 10 seconds, so:

musashi used to be so handsome

what happened

He got his mouth caved in by Motobe, and his hair got dirty/scruffy because he doesn't wash it.

He became more smug.

Last I saw Hanayama was pretty much dead
Is he fine?

he was pretty smug back then as well

He should be fine, they got him to a hospital and Kureha is a wizard.

But he wasn't this smug was he?

>Still one week ago.
>It's not only Bakidou but probably every single manga.

Are the scanlators learning korean instead of japanese to translate it?
I'm lucky to know japanese but if yes, I think you are fucked by the scanlators.
Because I think they are translating from korean scanlations in name of speed.
They need to release an english translation ASAP but the only option avaiable are korean scanlation instead of raw japanese.

he was

But he's not so handsome there anymore.

Except for the missing scar.

Said the Chilean bus driver to no one in particular.

What are you talking about? is from volume 3, and is from volume 4. There wasn't that much of a time difference between when they were drawn.

Unless you're saying something else; I don't understand.

In that page he already has his current autistic looks, he was only handsome when just resurrected. Itagaki started drawing his mouth differently and made his eyes bigger.

Please tell me they're not gonna fight again. Musashi vs Baki should have started like 3 volumes ago, the author has been pulling pointless filler even since the Motobe fight.

I'm saying he looks more like he does now in than he did in So basically he just looked weird and 'handsome' in his first few panels until Itagaki settled on what worked.

Same thing happened to Pickle and many others (though with other's it's more of a matter of the designs evolving with the art style).

I'd like to make special note of a tweak in Doppo's design this chapter. Check out his newly bushy eyebrows . He looks like my grandpa now.

What if Pickle trained and kills Musashi?

Doppo has always had eyebrows. Not sure what you're grousing about.

They were smaller and drawn differently.

iunno lol
Maybe Itagaki forgot for this one chapter, and will fix it in the volume. Happens to long-running mangaka every now-and-then: Kubo, Miura, Murata, Oda, Hanazawa, so on. And Itagaki makes at least one change per volume, so it's par for the course. I can tell you that for certain. Motherfucker's screwed me over on the translations at least twice by changing the actual text.

>we're still in Memesashi limbo waiting for Baki to do his thing and end this arc

At this point I'm hoping Itagaki pulls some interesting twist.

e.g. I could see how the Ali Jr. arc could have been viewed back when it first ran (though it was shorter than this), but in the end the Ali vs. Jack Hammer (my favourite fight in series in general) and Ali vs Baki fights were both nice pay-offs.

Reminder that only rural and suburban retards dislike Baki Dou. City people all love Musashi.

I like Musashi, I just hope the series was done so I could marathon it.

Reading it chapter by chapter is painful.

The one thing Musashi needs explained is how far medicine in the Bakiverse has come (far further than in the real world...)

Baki stopped him from executing Hanayama, but that wasn't pure ruthlessness. The urge to cut an adversary aside, from Musashi's perspective it would make perfect sense to kill an opponent who was that grievously wounded since they wouldn't be able to recover enough to fight again, if they even survived. But in the Bakiverse with people like Kureha around Hanayama will be fine to fight on the same level in a few months at most.

Musashi said there was no one on the level of the Baki cast in his day, no there was no one around to compete with him. That's why he had to compare the experience of fighting Restu to a battle rather than any fight against a single opponent. There probably wasn't anyone as strong as the Baki cast around because they wouldn't survive long enough. The cast is only as strong as it is because they've all survived many fights which, in an earlier world with worse medicine, would each be career-ending in themselves.

It's probably a safe bet to assume the current generation of fighters is (as a collective) the strongest in history except for random freaks like Yuujiro and Musashi pepperered throughout history.

He is aware he was cloned, you know. He was also given a talk on the modern world we didn't get to see. I'm sure he has at least a notion of the kind of healing they can pull.

Goddammit, well maybe memesashi learned from baki and he won't kill him but then again pickle has no more use in the story.

Why does Pickle insist on living in the sewers?

Why doesn't he move to Africa or Australia?

He might put two and two together but it's still fucking magic as far as he's concerned and the effects it's had on the fighting world aren't necessarily obvious.

You're on to something there. You're completely right. But, you didn't give a conclusion of your thoughts. I think that I have the 'solution' to that line of thought.

Each member of the Baki cast has been through countless fights, and survived. Medically speaking, that sort of thing would not have happened at any previous point in history. The fighters who came to have the strength of Hanayama and who took Hanayama-tier injuries died, rather than healing up and becoming stronger. The fighters who lost a leg but did not bleed out would never have fought again, rather than gaining a strong prosthetic which would allow them to fight at full capacity.

Someone else came to this thought a month or so ago, and it relates to where I'm going with this: most old-world fighters died before they could become truly strong. This was because death was "the end" back then, instead of just one fighter's inability to continue fighting. In the old world, an average fighter would live through one or two battles. How many battles has each modern Baki character survived? And what has been the quality of those battles?

The solution is this:each fighter, individually, is the crystallization of every 'battle' that they have fought. They are, themselves, all of those fights.
That is why there were no fighters like the modern Baki cast in Musashi's lifetime. *That* is why Retsu is like Sekigahara. His strength, nurtured over his entire life, was equivalent to fighting through all of Sekigahara. With this being the case, the question which Musashi will ask himself becomes: to what battles are Baki and Yuujiro equal?

I think that's where Itagaki's going with all of this, at least.

>Why doesn't he move to Africa or Australia?

He doesn't know they exist.

So now it's time for the adventures of Solid Swordsman? Naked Musashi? Punished Scenehog?

Meme all you want about anatomy but in Dou, Itakagi does this shit with skulls all the time. Picture Motobe's skull without the hair. He looks like a neanderthal and this didn't happen before Dou.

Mushashi just sauntering into Pickle's lair is how their first encounter should have started, not one of Tokugawa's exhibition matches.

I kinda wonder, now, what exactly could have prompted Musashi to lift a random circle out of the ground and climb in.

So is the police still after him? I thought they had given up after Hanayama's fight, they even escorted him back to Tokugawa's.

They're just trying to figure out what happened with the manhole cover. It's a crime to lift those in many parts of the world.

He's killed several people.

yeah but

>killing anons mid-post

Can Baki just beat Memesashi already?

by that do you mean the entire squadron of armed riot police

i fucking did that yesterday, big deal

It's called "bad writing" and Baki is full of it.

DOPPO BES BAKI

don't die pickle!

I was joking. You seem to be upset, though.

Yo what is Tsutsumi Jyohei doing in Baki?

nice user, I am joking in most threads, but I enjoy this series no matter what

What do you guys think that Musashi wants with Pickle? To finish the job, like he tried with Hanayama? Or maybe friendship? They're both foreign to the modern world, after all; maybe that gives them a certain kinship.

Does it matter at this point?

Yes.

Will jack ever be relevant again?

...

...

...

Jack had a more recent fight than Doppo, Shibukawa and Katsumi, you know. Have to be patient with these things. Sometimes.
