Masako Nozawa, best known for being the actress for Son Goku in Dragon Ball, has tragically passed away on October 6, 2017 of natural causes. She was 80 years old. Nozawa began her career in 1939, often voicing small male characters. This eventually led her to be known as "The Eternal Boy." She would eventually find herself voicing Son Goku, the main protagonist of Akira Toriyama's Dragon Ball, in 1986.
Nozawa was truly the heart and soul of the anime adaptation of Dragon Ball. She will forever be known as Son Goku, Goten, Gohan, Tullece, Bardock, and most recently, Goku Black. Her talent will live on for centuries.
Japanese Goku just does one unchanging scream, even if the action on scream would tell you there would be a volume or pitch change. The other actors at least put peaks and valleys in the volume, pitch, and tone of the screams.
Nozawa was a good kid Goku but shouldn't have played adult Goku.

This. Been watching Super subbed for the past couple weeks, and holy shit I almost nutted when I heard Sean Schemmel in some youtube video yesterday after getting so used to Nozawa's voice.
Her shrieks, pain sounds, and yelling is probably one of the most annoying I've heard in voice acting.
