Why isn't there a modern day Inuyasha? It was extremely popular

Why isn't there a modern day Inuyasha? It was extremely popular.

With all the blatant Naruto clones airing nowadays ( Boruto, BHNA, BC) I find myself wondering why nobody has taken Inuyasha's formula and tried to improve on it.

What formula is that

Isekai

You mean, Shoujonen?

If everything you hate is a Naruto clone, then everything you like could be an Inu Yasha clone.

Came here to post that. I guess isekai is now targeted to male teens. No Japanese boy would self-inserted as neo-Kagome. (Not enough to drive sales, anyway.)

so essentially youre looking for an isekai with bishes?

Why isn't there a modern day anime with girls as hot as Inuyasha's?

Why can't male mangaka draw women?

Time travel is not isekai.
REEEEE

>REEEEE

>Why isn't there a modern day Inuyasha?
Boring endless shounen?

Kamisama hajimemashita

They could try to target it at women. Besides obvious Isekai appeal, Inuyasha had a little of Twilight, and women eat that shit like we eat mindless fighting shonen.

Women eat mindless fighting shonen pretty intensely too though. Any big ones have massive fujo following.

Naraku is proto-Aizen

I mean Rin-ne exists, and has a lot of similarities to it. I don't know if I'd say it improves on the formula, but it's decent.

i don't know why it was popular in the first place

>"timetravel" to a world full of magic where average girl is actually the stand-in for a powerful priestess
Yes it is you dumbass

There are plenty of girls isekai, they just don't get animated because fujoshit brings in more money than otomeshit

Women now watch stuff like Free.

Yeah, but watching fighting shonen for shipping it's like watching Sailor Moon to fap.

Honestly, they don't seem to try as hard today to appeal to both boys and girls.

Yes, they are.
Sports anime/manga are shonen, but fujoshi love them.

>watching Sailor Moon to fap
That doesn't feel like a good analogy to exemplify ridiculousness.

We could've gotten it if Fate/Prototype was the Fate we got, since it was basically an Otomege, but still had all the servant fights that guys like.

Yeah but outside of PoT, how many of them are super popular?

>how many of them are super popular?
Kurobasuke?
Free!?
Coward's Pedal got a bunch of seasons too.
There are others. But my memory is mush right now.

I'm pretty sure Free was not meant to appeal to guys, even if Sup Forums watched it.

I think way too few people on Sup Forums dared to watch it because so many of them were angry or afraid of fujoshit.
It's really an all-audiences show. But point taken, it's not shonen.

I watched only S1, but it certainly didn't feel like a anime for everyone. I enjoyed it because I tried to be as open-minded as possible, but contrary to Kuroko I didn't feel like I was part of the intended audience.

I think he is indeed talking about a shoujo isekai but with lots of shounen action and I agree, we really should have another one of these

You mean like Nirvana?

Rinne improves nothing, it just recycles poorly the Ranma basic recipes.

Because it had already been done far, far better before Inuyasha came out.

only imagine if a otome-isekais is the new fad

Was Kagome that stacked?

Yup

>but watching fighting shonen for shipping it's like watching Sailor Moon to fap
So perfectly understandable then.

Everyone chalks Inuyasha up to either being one of the big shounens of the time, alongside bleach and Naruto or a show primarily for girls. But it's this weird show that fits both those roles and it always felt like it did it completely unintentionally.

Now a days you almost always have an established target audience from the get go. Not a lot of people put out stories like rumiko did.

90's/early 2000's had tons of Iseka with female protagonists and shounen fights.

You know, before LN Isekai took over.

Manga isekai was so much better than our shitty LN isekai

Inuyasha is shit user

One started just last year.

Dragon ball for romance n shieet

All the women were pretty stacked in that show
Also feudal Japan had a fucking million hot springs every mile or two

lucky

>Also feudal Japan had a fucking million hot springs every mile or two

In fairness that's true, Japan just didn't know they were there underground and hadn't dug them up yet.

the only good thing about inuyasha were the characters. they spent like 170 episodes chasing 1 guy and didn't even defeat him at the end.

>It was extremely popular
Citation needed. Also you make it sound like this "formula" is actually something unique. Even at the time Inuyasha came out there were plenty of isekais with female protagonists some of which predated it by a decade or more.

Inuyasha's "formula."

Maybe cos Takahashi was a female author who did shounen and therefore knew how to cater to different audiences?

What did ever happen to the big baddie? I think he had a son or something but that's when I stopped watching.

probably beaten in the 2009 series which I haven't watched yet

The setting and premise were cool, it just wasn't executed well.

Sesshoumaru finally caught him.

I know right? Sekirei also comes to mind, that series had some of the hottest waifus and was drawn by a straight woman (not to mention a yaoi artist).

Inuyasha final chapters closes everything out. Best 26 episodes of a shonen in a long time. Actually does justice to end Inuyasha

Long running TV anime doesn't work anymore because people want more choices and nuances.

Does Inuyasha have a knot on his dick?

Kagome is hot.
HOT.

The top shows in japan are all long running TV shows
And long running TV shows that have a simple easy to digest formula and don't just shit on the audience are something that people respond really well too.

The actual problem is that studios would rather crap out a 12-24 ep series, fill it with horrid "SURE FAN PLEASER" creepyfaggyness and shillery, make some money then move on to something else.

Look at kemono and friends. That had a ton of potential to be a long running childrens show that had that stuff going on the background that would let adults enjoy it too. They destroyed that shit but quick.

Sesshomaru got a Naraku-killing sword, Inuyasha acquired a Naraku-killing ability, and they killed Naraku, except they didn't.

I mean yeah chicks loved inuyasha, but it did well with males as well. I see no reason why they couldn't make it work.

THE NINETIES ARE CALLING ME. I HAVE TO GO BACK.

Yeah.
I honestly wanted to see some other really badguys that weren't just somehow connected to naraku.
Who did the great dog demon general fight against?

Modern Japanese manga artists don't know anything about the Feudal Era and have no desire to draw beasts straight from folklore.

what about that one series where the girl is turned into a land god and she has a fox familiar?

No, Inyuasha was set mostly in Feudal Japan. Looking back, I wonder if the story could've been improved if Kagome was just a villager who trained to become a Miko instead of high school teenager.

>180+ episodes of Kagome without a school uniform
Why would you do that? Are you mad?

Inari Konkon?

>35+ episodes of filler eliminated
he might be on to something

To eliminate the pointless episodes revolving around Kagome's school life.

>It was extremely popular.
As much as I like Inuyasha, the porn say otherwise. extremely popular is an exaggeration.

Drawings of women with real proportions? Is this even anime? wtf

Inuyasha worked because of Rumiko's great character designs and actual well-researched and well-placed historic and folklore tie-ins.
It isn't a successful "formula" because the very script goes to shit halfway thru when she starts recycling arcs and it becomes "Kagome gets kidnapped by villain of the week nÂș433". The ending is also unsatisfying and most characters didn't even had proper closure.
There's a bunch of series with a similar narrative style, Deltora Quest, Magi, Lodoss and a bunch of old space operas. The reason why nobody makes these anymore is because they aren't selling as well as they used to.

>implying school festival and entrance exams episodes weren't the funniest ones
user, pls

Yes, though the anime gave Kagome more meat than she had in the original manga. Kikyo also gained dream bedroom eyes and milf like proportions in the anime, in the manga she looked like Kagome.

I picked this show up when I was 12 or 13 years old. Even as it aired and I was still watching it at 15 I always felt like Kagome was way older than me.

Was it because by that age Japanese teens are more mature than their western counterparts? Was it because she was the self insert for the middle aged Japanese author? Was it because she was drawn anatomically like a grown woman? Was it because she was voiced by a woman in her 30s in the Ocean dub? I could never put my finger on it.

Anyone else ever think the same thing?

The original anime's art style, choice of music for the opening and endings, protagonist wandering around Feudal Japan made it look more mature. Even Miroku was mature, he was an ass man on a journey to find a fertile wife to bear his children.

Inuyasha is half human, maybe or maybe not.
Rin in the other hand.

Kamisama Hajimemashita.

He fought against an army of invading Chinese cat people, he beat their king and sent them back to gook land. Inuyasha and Seshbromaru finished the job when they invaded again.

He fought another guy that could create underworld portals. He stole his power and sealed it away in the sword he gave to sesshomaruni, only so seshy could perfect it so it could then be given to Inuyasha. Somehow the portal guy came back and sesshomaru kills him.

He also fought against this moth dude and his son, they were the baddies from the first movie. Again Inuyasha and the gang finished him off.

He fought against a giant dragon thing, he wasn't able to actually kill it only send him into dormancy. Inuyasha later cleans up after him again.

While he was still wounded from fighting the dragon guy he went to see his side bitch giving birth and fought the human dude he cucked. He then died when the house they were in burned down. This guy later comes back after being possessed by one of the dog demon's swords and inuyasha and seshomayaoi have to finish him off.

Stop skipping lines like a retard, holy shit.

It's already been mentioned, but Kamisama Kiss is rather similar to Inuyasha, but not nearly as long, at least for the anime.

>caring about someone else's formatting

Kagome was pretty busty and the fanservice in Inuyasha was actually pretty good. Lots of leg and thigh service.

Kikyo best girl.

Who are you quoting?

How old was Kagome supposed to be? 14?

I liked Sango but god damn was she fucking useless

Don't forget all the ass handling. Miroku is a god.

Old enough

That isn't a quote. Lurk for 2 years before posting. If you don't understand how to communicate around here there is no way you've done this.

Miroku was always one of the best parts of Inuyasha

kek

I sort of liked this, but there were parts so boring I probably fell asleep through some episodes. Tigertaur best girl.

wew newfriend, now you've just exposed yourself.

It took me a while to realize why Miroku picked Sango. Out of all the asses he groped, Sango's ass remains the best one in Feudal Japan. All those touches were pretty much quality control.

the one about the spider.

Imagine any harem show. Sub out whatever beta MC they've got wasting space for Miroku and BOOM. You'd have the best show of all time.

Miroku was only trying to find a woman to bear his child just in case he failed to defeat Naraku and the Wind Tunnel consumed him. Him gaining an urge to grope ass was just a side effect of having his hand cursed.

Oh no! I've been exposed!
