No. Even when when a hentai is unironically considered good "for the plot", it's always implicitly followed by the fact that the context is pornography; it doesn't necessarily have to have a good plot, which is why it comes as a pleasant surprise. It's not the focus, though; Punpun and many other series have lengthy, explicit sex scenes, but that doesn't necessarily make them pornographic. And just because they can draw something hot doesn't necessarily make them better artists than those in non-adult works. Quite the opposite, since many hentai artists are incapable of doing backgrounds or even complex everyday poses or dynamic scenes, but get by by focusing solely on the sex.

The only exception to the rule are raunchy, snuff series like Kite or Mezzo Forte, where the porn meshes surprisingly well with the action.

I can't fap to hentai without a good story or art. Y'know? I need establishing character moments, themes, a little symbolism here & there, rising action, climax, resolution, and falling action. I need to feel like "If X character didn't exist, the entire storyline wouldn't be the same". The voice of the mangaka should permeate the tale. WHAT is he or she trying to say? Good shading and realistic anatomy are important too, the human form is one of the most beautiful things in the world and it's a shame how few are able to properly stylize it for the manga medium.

Hentai is great when it naturally feels like 2 characters would actually enjoy being around each other even without sex in the picture, or if they'd naturally hate each other too.
