What do you think about the future of Monogatari series...

What do you think about the future of Monogatari series? Does it need to be animated after Zokuowari or Final Season is enough?

I don't know or care, I stopped watching it after Monogatari S2. It became a parody of itself, doing nothing but references to previous seasons and inside jokes.

Everything up to the so called "final season" is just a span of one year. Nothing really has happened yet in the life of the characters. Yeah, they were lots of issues that were touched and resolved but it is just for a short time. And there is a lot of things that has not been resolve yet as well. A five years time-skip had been done to show the future in musubi. Every volume that comes after that fills the four years gap between owari and musubi.

It is not really a question whether if needs to be animated or not. That is because, everything will to be animated as long as there are still stuff that can be animated. Shaft said so. All that we need to do is wait for them to do that.

OVAs about detective adventures of depressed Araragi and cheerful Shinobu would be great.

I'm happy with the ending it has. I wouldn't mind more, but I'm satisfied with what we got.

pretentious shit that you sit through to seem "sophisticated", the emperor isn't wearing any clothes and this series is trash

I wonder how they will destroy Shinobu's banter in Kabuki.

/thread

~monogatari went to shit pretty fast without the director of the first season at the helm.

...

The current ending is a good ending point, though I wouldn't mind Zokuowari as final epilogue. As much as I love the adaptions, I would rather see Shaft moving on and make different anime like 3-gatsu no lion (Or fucking finally continue Madoka)
Especially since the novels are now getting translated at a fast pace it won't take too long until we get to Monster Season

2deep4u

Madoka is dead and they know it. They cashed in for everything it was worth while they had the chance. Is Butcher even relevant anymore?

They will continue animation the novel as long as the sales are fine.

To be fair, you have to have a very high IQ to understand Monogatari. The humour is extremely subtle, and without a solid grasp of Japanese mythology most of the jokes will go over a typical viewer’s head. There’s also Shinobu’s nihilistic outlook, which is deftly woven into her characterisation- her personal philosophy draws heavily from Japanese manga, for instance. The fans understand this stuff; they have the intellectual capacity to truly appreciate the depths of these jokes, to realise that they’re not just lewd- they say something deep about ANIME. As a consequence people who dislike Monogatari truly ARE idiots- of course they wouldn’t appreciate, for instance, the humour in Shinobu’s existential catchphrase “Kakakaka,” which itself is a cryptic reference to Nabokov’s Russian epic Lolita. I’m smirking right now just imagining one of those addlepated simpletons scratching their heads in confusion as Nisioisin’s genius wit unfolds itself on their television screens. What fools.. how I pity them.

And yes, by the way, i DO have a Senjougahara tattoo. And no, you cannot see it. It’s for the loli’s’ eyes only- and even then they have to demonstrate that they’re within 5 IQ points of my own (preferably lower) beforehand.

>Does it need to be animated after Zokuowari or Final Season is enough?
I don't know, Nisio writes like a retard. It's just a SoL at this point. I'll continue reading books occasionally though, since Monster Season seems to be interesting.

When Owari Season 2 came out I had to rewatch the entire series because I couldn't remember jack shit. But at least I got to experience it in a different manner (chronologically).

The way I see it this anime has no future because it is too big and releases are sparse throughout the years. Your fans are lost.
Also the netflix thing where they aired all the episodes at once is like a death sentence for popularity.

Obligatory reminder that if you think anything from Nise was unnecessary filler or fanservice, then this series is genuinely too high level for you.

I know this is a falseflag but even if it isn't explain to me how the toothbrush scene was in any way, shape, or form related to the plot.

Nise was my favourite part because of the fanservice.

I actually didn't like the show until that season. kek

>brainlets instantly triggered
One of the most referenced events in the entire series for discussing Araragi's character, one of the most well-known events in the entire LN format, and something that changed how people talk about tooth brushing for years, all without revealing a single panty or bra. But yes, keep telling yourself and others it's just fanservice, like in all the other diamond dozen japanese fictional works that make up this industry and don't even get remembered by name.

I'm just bullying you a bit though. There's a genuine language and culture barrier to take into consideration, so you shouldn't actually feel bad for not getting the nuance of what makes Monogatari so noteworthy and successful as a creative work.

This but unironically

You can tell that it's not satire by someone that actually gets Monogatari and just some butthurt fag's copypasta because he thinks that the smartness comes from getting the jokes or mythological references.

Owari S1 still sold like nearly 30k BDs and that's the least-selling one of the entire series.

It isn't Hitagi's fault that Nisio forgot about her. He just likes Shinobu more now and develops her.

I would like nisio to write a spinoff about misadventures of young meme&co and also how brononoki came into existance.

They still make those? Aren't they at season 30 by now? I tried watching it for the cute vampire and snail for a couple episodes but it's just too fucking cringy for me to handle. Fucking chuuni DEEP bullshit. I will never understand what people older than 14 see in that. Still jerk off to the porn though, it's hot as fuck.

...

Judging from Kizu, Nisio (and Araragi) liked Shinobu more from the very beginning. Nise's ending showed that Araragi had a clear bias toward the "fake" side, and the way he beat Seishiro (as well as him turning into a vampire afterward) reaffirmed that much later in the series.

Yeah, I more meant the general meaning and context behind the copy pasta. People say that Monogatari is pretentious bullshit, but I do genuinely believe that it's deeper than, say, Evangelion.

user Nisio wrote Kizu after Bake. Even in Nise Hitagi is still relevant.

I dunno, I stopped watching somewhere where it was apparent Arararagi was a loli pussy magnet with no consequences from the law

>Fucking chuuni DEEP bullshit
lighten up buddy

get out you disgusting pedophile

> with no consequences from the law
One loli is a ghost
Second is a doll
Third is a 598 years old vampire

Shinobu already existed and was completely unexplained in Bake. Kizu was the next thing to come out after Bake and it retroactively made Shinobu a much more important character than Hitagi. (Hell, even in Bake she arguably played a bigger role, we just had no idea who she was.)

Hitagi was relevant in Nise, but by that time Shinobu was already Araragi's partner with a death pact that took priority over everything else in Araragi's life.

that's the best part thou

it's sad that monogatari's success is stifled by loli-hating normalfags

which characters are the highest in importance?

Those are just ass-pull technicalities to protect him from the law

...

> it retroactively made Shinobu a much more important character than Hitagi
I love Hitagi but you are right. Nisio himself probably wanted to maintain some kind of balance between Hitagi and Shinobu in Araragi's life but he failed. Kizu-Nise-Kabuki-Owari - the best love story ever told. Hitagi had no chance.

Is it high time I got hold of the series or..
Just what am I in for and where to begin with?

> what am I in for

fanservice, dialogue, stories about monsters which act like diseases.

bakemonogatari episode 1

Araragi>Shinobu>Hitagi>Hachikuji, the rest really depend on where you are in the story.

I don't think it's unintentional. Araragi resolved things peacefully with Kaiki, not even holding any resentment toward anything he did, but he was completely at odds with Kagenui. Kagenui also quoted Kaiki (not Oshino) when she admitted defeat to him. There was a very clear thematic bias toward the "fake" (supernatural) for Araragi even early in the series.

Nothing else needs to be adapted but I will be happy if it continues.

A show that's entirely watchable on a base level but also has plenty of substance if you start to give a shit. Don't weight yourself with preconceived notions and just go start watching it.

Oh, and don't fall for chronology memes, only view in LN release order.

Danke, have a low resolution Mosou Express Nadeko.

So now that she's Oshino's niece, Araragi can viably stick his dick in her right?

She’s technically his daughteru, so no

Probably, its Shaft's biggest franchise after maybe Madoka

that might be problematic now

Final Season is the worst part of Monogatari. It perfectly fits the trend of YA authors nt being able to do satisfying conclusions at all. The good thing about Monogtarai tho is that Nisio is a fucking machine and has continued making long after the supposed finale. And Off Season is far better than Final Season, with a depressing day in the life of Sodachi, Kanbaru talking wth the ghost of her mother and resolving the whole Rainy Devil thing, Bird and Doll monster hunting adventures, Bat's vampire back story in medieval Europe, Bee's mountain climbing adventure, Cat's vampie side story in modern Europe, Snake fighting copies of herself and finally facing the truth, and a 5 year time skip story with adult versions of the old cast and an all new police force harem.

This, off-season is a nice change of pace from the rest of the series. Owari had a nice feeling of conclusion, but so does Musubi and I bet so will Shinomonogatari. Everyone is free to stop whenever season they want, and it's not like without making Monogatari once in a while it Shaft will suddenly animate everyone's other dream projects. And if everyone is really tired it won't sell anymore and naturally it will stop.

I enjoy it on a small level. Probably because some of the characters are familiar by now and their traits/appearance are appealing. The style of the movies was quite refreshing compared to the show.

Give it a break for like 2-4 years before adapting the other shit.

I can't wait for magical girl sheningans with birb and doll

I want more if they go back to powerpoint-style visuals.

I hope it never ever ends. It's part of my life now.

Nisioisn seems like the author who cranks out book after book without any care for quality. His writing is usually a step above fanfic level quality and doesn't even compare to those great authors like tanaka romeo, mizuhito akiyama, ueo hisamitsu and many others whose contribution to this LN medium is invaluable

I think Shinbo said that Shaft will animate Monogatari as long as Nisio keeps writing novels.

If you aren't fluent in Japanese you watched this to fap to the girls but you have to tell others something different about this slideshow to make it seem relevant. Definition of a meme show. 4/10 the animation is pretty good.

There doesn't need to be more but I won't complain if there is
