If only Kotomine had been the proper main character.

Edge aimed towards edge is still edge, if you don't mind me saying so in a non personal way.

Tried to be a cold-hearted badass character but he just came off as bland and shallow.

Explain why.
Perhaps because he's not actually cold-hearted. It's TM, they practically spell this shit out for you repeatedly.

Hence why I said "tried".

It sounded like you were saying the writing intended to have a cold-hearted badass character and failed. How is he terrible if he was never intended to be that way?

>I couldn't anything but facepalm all the way watching Fate/Zero
This but because of everything. F/SN, Prisma, and Phantasm are the only good installments of the franchise so far.

>stupid loli fanservice > Mature philosophical story where generic underaged supermodels dont play a major role.

Yor taste is shit and you know it!

His lofig is flawless. Dont blame the character for your low IQ

>terrible character
How about you list his flaws you fucking retard

He's that "nihilistic with a wicked sense of humor copypasta" flavored self-insert

>adulterer
>lol pragmatism that somehow stops him from actually just working in tandem with Saber for 90% of the story
>mentality of a teenager at best
>stupid fucking gun
>stupid ow ouchie magic knot tying bullets

what's bad about him? Necessary sacrifices is pragmatism, while saving everyone is naivete, he's another side of Shirow.

>mature philosophical story
>just do what you want and if you're a legit bad guy it'll turn out OK because heroes of justice aren't real

>Kiritsugu gets TWO flash back episodes and a drama cd about how he and Iri met
>Kotomine gets none, they don't even show his dead wife, or daughter

Unfair. You could say they were saving it for the FSN adaption, but it's the prequel, and it should have been there.

That scene where Gilgamesh was convincing Kirei to join him was fucking ace

>adulterer
not a character flaw
>lol pragmatism that somehow stops him from actually just working in tandem with Saber for 90% of the story
what? have you even watched the show? He does work with saber. He can beat any master 1v1 the only problem are the servants and saber handles them.
>stupid fucking gun
>stupid ow ouchie magic knot tying bullets
You know what, I regret typing this comment you are clearly retarded.
all the bullshit points you have listed are things that you don't like about the character.

Agreed.

You only see Gilgamesh and Kirei together at the end of Fate route and middle HF route of F/SN.

Archer kind of stole the show in UBW.

Best parts of the show, best fujobait scenes of the decade, easily.

why are you not watching the blu-rays? they add 15 mins or so of scenes with those two.

King of Sluts was hilarious in F/Z.

>Why not just wish for pleasure and joy?

>What's wrong with you, how could I wish for something so blasphemous and sinful?!

Let's be honest, we all watched F/Z for those two

Because you're a self-insert fag.

What? For reals?

Because his ideology is utopian and will never happen in real life. Even he himself knows this and so he tried winning the grail to make it happen. But instead he got schooled by the grail.

Yeah. Always watch the BDs for Fate as they are uncensored and uncut.

As for F/SN, they talk in that same room, drinking wine, while Gilgamesh talks about how Kirei kept him around for 10 years.

>Let's be honest, we all watched F/Z for those two
I rewatched this shit for this for those two and Ryunosuke with Caster, to be honest.

Yes.

>Ryunosuke
I felt like he was alot more shallow than he needed to be. The violence could've been less gratuitous and more expository on his character, but I liked what little we did get as he died.

In the book there is a flashback to Gilgamesh's life before becoming a heroic spirit, and Kirei being reminded of his dead wife and daughter after walking into the church and finding his father dead on the ground.

Emiya... Kiritsugu...

I like him and Caster because they were so honest and just have a really good and fun time.

I watched it for Kerry.

Boku wa... Boku wa...

They really were the best. It was especially fun watching Kirei delve into evil and discover that he really REALLY liked it.

That's the same feeling i had with the entire fate series in general. Strangely enough, only parodies like prisma and carnival phantasm felt actually good while the main series and other serious derivatives felt like tryhard shit

Well I'll be damned, thank you user.
Not sure I want to go through F/SN though. I dropped it 3 episodes in and I'm fine with that.

>Watching anime F/SN to being with.

I'd go to the dark side too if pic related was my mentor/tempter.

Lack of Kotomine and Gil?

They are together in the Fate route or the end of the old F/SN anime.

HF is mostly Kotomine without Gil.

>every fate character is a massive edgelord, especially the MCs who are either bitchboys or "pshh, nothing personal, kid" characters

Conclusion: Only edgeboys watch fate.

Oh wow I thought only the dialogue between the 3 kings got an extension.

Shirou isn't really an edge lord. At least when compared to Shiki and Kerry.

It's not that he's a bad character, it's that the show decided to give him more screen time than anyone else.

Waver should have been the MC.

>it's that the show decided to give him more screen time than anyone else.
I'd argue that Kotomine had just as much screentime.

It's plenty fair. The main character of Fate/Stay Night is Emiya Shirou, not Karen.

He didn't get a whole flashback arc though. It eludes me as to why Kiritsugu got one as long as it was.

Urobuchi was leaning towards that, Nasu said no.

>fate/shit

> Annoying teenage self insert should be MC
Die.

what the fuck happened?

there's a flashback in HF where they go into detail about this, much like Illya's flashback is in UBW.

They reference the exact same moments in Zero but they cut it out of the tv series, and I assume because they are planning on adding it to their new F/SN adaption.

Urobuchi was actually planning on giving Waver a bigger role with Assassin but Nasu shot him down and said that it's Kiritsugu and Kotomine's story.

This was posted on Sup Forums, so is the manga any good? How does it compare to the anime and light novel?

Honestly? While the art might be.. weird. It doesn't skip or censor stuff like the anime did.

The ending is also better.

The question is, can someone like Kotomine exist in real life? Someone who derives pleasure solely from the pain and suffering of others? I doubt even psychopaths have such a specific restriction to their pleasure stimuli. They might still be able to enjoy sex for example. Kotomine doesn't even have that, the guy is fueled by the pain of others. So I'm leaning more towards a fictional version of psychopathy that exaggerates it a bit.

>people seriously think Kiritsugu is "pragmatic" and dindu nuffin
The show literally makes it a point several times that Kiritsugu is in fact idealistic manchild who thinks he knows what's best for everyone. He's even worse than Shirou in this regard, because Shirou at least focuses on what's really dear to him, Kiritsugu was grown man sperging about SAVING THE WORLD by using some deus ex machina. Even fucking Kotomine says that removing conflicts goes against the human nature.

I agree. But to be fair, Kotomine's statement doesn't mean much. To a man like Kotomine, a world without literally any conflict of any kind would be a nightmare. He would be unable to derive pleasure from anything anymore for the rest of his life. Kiritsugu's ideal world is his worst nightmare so it makes sense why he'd argue it's against human nature. It's true, but Kotomine's statement is most likely for a different reason.

People from Nasuverse can't exist at all, read what the Origin means in Nasuverse if you don't know about that yet.

There are no good Fate installments. It's a shitty porn game/gacha kusoge with an infantile, silly premise.

>what if we made a game/anime about a battle tournament and have historic, legendary and mythical figures fight in it?
>wow, so epig!!!! fund it!

It's like a 10 year old came up with this whole idea while being bored in a history class.

Shirou calls him a manchild in F/sn.

Not the same guy you replied to but:
>WA2000
>"Muh helical mags" Calico
>Not stupid meme guns
You can't fucking deny this. In fact, the firearm that ends up being most practical he has for getting shit done he has is his Contender, and that's only because of his Origin's effects.

Kiritsugi is a good case study in why utilitarianism doesn't work.

That's the point that's he's wrong and insane, how do people not get the memo? Is it the anime only Zero kids watching it at 2x speed?

All his firearms are specifically used to make his Origin bullet more effective against enemy magi. Of course, this particular strategy would prove almost useless against anyone with real combat experience.

Fate/zero is worth watching for all the scenes in which the ryuunosuke and caster do stuff together

unironically the best master/servant duo

there are lots of mental illnesses user

The real question is why he's using the most unreliable 9mm he could find.

>oh wow he tricked that guy, so pragmatic and badass
>stupid knights got told! XDDD serves them right, Kerry is so intelligent just like me
>CONTENDA!
Who am I quoting

So we all agree that zero is okay and a fun watch and it's just that zerofags are cancer?

Zerokids are R&Mfags of anime

Why do Lancer's always have to suffer?

Zero Lancer's death is a reference to UBW.

As for the others, no idea.

Rank E luck.

You crawled out of /vg/, disgusting mobagefag.

To be honest I couldn't care less about Diarmuid. He just feels like Urobuchi-brand designated suffering character with "muh honor" trait. Him screaming at the end was the only somewhat memorable thing to me.

You're making me link it again.

Also ZIZZ's image soundtrack theme is too good for him
youtube.com/watch?v=goSbVP2RkDc
Kajiura's got nothing on this

Phantasm > FSN > Strange Fake > Atteraxia > Extella > Illya > Apocrypha > Go >>>>Urine>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Shit>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Twilight>Fate/Zero

Enkidu seems to be doing alright. Dunno about Vlad and Achilles in Apocrypha, dropped it pretty early on.

What happened to ZIZZ?

At least they remixed the Angra Mainyu theme.

wasn't he supposed to be a parallel to Lancelot or something.

They're still making game OSTs? The soundtrack they made for Zero LN only happened because the novel was originally published by Nitro+ back when Urobuchi was working with them.

Aron makes good videos, god bless him

...

They released a soundtrack for a novel? How many OSTs does Fate/Zero even have?

It was back when anime wasn't even in production. There's Image Soundtrack by ZIZZ studio anime onlys don't know about, Sound Drama soundtrack which was pretty good but I forgot who the composer was, and Kajiura's soundtrack.

>Sound Drama soundtrack
youtube.com/watch?v=ySornbD9Odc
Better than Kalafina too, and sadder because it's Iri singing

I liked how the Image Soundtrack by ZIZZ studio had themes for each character. Kaijura's OST didn't really have that.

There's a track called "a man in black" that was played in Kirei's scenes often but that's about it
youtube.com/watch?v=dvtz0qWpv04

Here's another good one
youtube.com/watch?v=hGN1n_sit4E

I really like "The Gilgamesh", but I'm not sure if it's a fitting theme for him. If they called it All Evil of the World it would make more sense because it's sinister and menacing as fuck.

>make more sense because it's sinister and menacing as fuck.

Does that not describe Archer in Fate/Zero?

I also like his F/GO theme, which is a remix of his F/SN theme.

youtube.com/watch?v=OtIxgk3nKOw

He was lazying around and tempting Kotomine for the most of time. In the last scene with Rider and Waver he was pretty neutral. ZIZZ's theme is way too scary for him.

Hana no uta is much more powerful imo

The 「悪いことをしたらきっと貴方が怒ってくれると約束したよね」part really hit me hard

Cu is wayy higher in the powerlevels compared to deermud.
Deer doesn't even have divinity.

He would've been unstoppable with his original Master. Fucking priest held him back.

This doesn't even make sense as comparisson.
Cu didn't die instantly but neither did Diarmuid.

cu's death
>that's life, you either win or you don't. killed the priest for you, baz
diarmuid's death
>reee i hope the grail brings disaster, i hate all of you, how dare you ruin the honor of a knight, how dare you just stand there saber reee

I wonder how secondaries feel about Lancer being Kotomine's Servant. They never explain that he stole someone else's servant in UBW.
