Are you the same religion as your parents?

Are you the same religion as your parents?

I became an atheist to spite mine.

Im glad I learned everything about the terrible origins of religion after my parents died or our fights would have escalated to war

I'm irreligious raised Christian, I still appreciate my Christian upbringing and consider Christianity to be the "best" religion in terms of it's effect on society, but I don't believe in a the literal interpretation of the bible.

Good to hear that, my fellow. *tips golden fedora*

Attached: 317.jpg (340x399, 27K)

This. My parents didn't even raise me super Christian though, just church on Sundays. Didn't have to go starting when I was a teen

No, but I respect their choices.

Careful with that edge reddit

I went to a catholic school from preschool thru high school with mandatory mass every week, but havn't gone to mass since I graduated. My mom is very religious and my dad is an atheist. I still consider myself catholic though

I was raised in the Catholic church and went to CCD and was an altar boy but I didn't get confirmed because I couldn't force myself to be a low iq cultist

Both my parents are liberal athiests
Im Deist myself

Its alien to me to pretend that its all real. I played with too many magnets as a child.

I became an atheist because I actually read the bible instead of larping as a bible thumper.

how's middle school, user?

Absolutely, without God and a unifying religion and family will not stand and survive, without the faith you're most likely to be a liberal atheist beta who has 0-1 & 1/2 children.

My dad is Catholic, my mom was Catholic now she is Jewish and i am a fedora

I disagree compeletly with what you say but those numbers are unquestionable

A family*

checked

Meaning come back to the faith and bring your kike mother back too Pedro

>I became an atheist to spite mine
Typical atheist. You're like white girls that fuck niggers to get back at daddy.

You only spite your self. you can t run around out there without knowing what the religious people are up to. the good ones and the real bad ones. I believe you are a supreme being just like your parents pray to just a different kind. Why else would all these entities be willing to cheat and lie to get your soul it's yours to do as you please so do not stand down to anything. You should do the right thing because it is the right thing not because some unseen entity is not going to let you worship it.

I have no reasons to believe in God and without faith well the whole thing crumbles unless you are one of those fags who Larps as crusaders and just believe because convince and "muh virgin waifu " but everyone hates those fags

*believe because convenience

my mom is some sort of feminist neopagan sperglord and my dad is a drugged up criminal manlet who ive never had an actual conversation with
so no

He is obviously trolling and false flagging so people get butthurt

There's nothing convenient about being a Catholic and everything convenient in being an irreligious agnostic or being a fedora. Faith and believing in something takes work, something atheism doesn't take at all.

I am a Deist because I recognize the need for both reason and virtue.

You need virtues to clear your of vices before unbiased reasoning ability can manifest and you need reason to recognize the virtuous Aristotelian mean between a given deficiency and excess of behavior, as both excess and deficiency are vices.

Invariably, this does require some form of faith because one can only speculate the causes of another's behavior or apply virtuous rules out of belief until they become virtuous themselves.

Atheists and leafs eternally BTFO by quads of truth.

/thread

My parents are basically "culturally christian" but wouldn't put it that way. They just grew up before atheism was an option for normies.

I'm not comfortable with specific earthly beliefs because they were all clearly made up by humans and I don't fit in very well with people either way so theres no point in pretending to believe any of the brands.

But I do have some sort of belief because I'm not a nihilist and I think there is a complexity to reality that is categorically beyond our understanding.

no one cares dumb faggot

God is real l like mass, energy, and time are real. It's not some abstraction, its a scientific fact.

flame away, I won't even be reading the responses.

My parents are basically christian without being christian. Christian values are the best for society like this guy said, but I adhere to freedoms, not morals or laws.

Sort of. I grew up in a Calvinistic household but eventually chose a much more mellow Arminian denomination.

You're right. People who claim to love science shy away from this.

You're the theological equivalent of a coalburner.

Not really. My mom is Catholic. My dad is an agnostic Catholic. I'm an agnostic atheist

Im orthodox like my parents bit since I always had an interest in history somewhere down the road I stumbled onto Slavic paganism. I cant say I am pagan, and I cant say Im christian either even though I tell people Im orthodox christian while wearing a kolovrat around my neck. The two religions are actually very intertwined, with many customs being the same and most of the saints having a pagan god identity with the face of cultural heroes. Im inclined to respect both because theyre the traditions of my ancestors.

My parents were agnostic, and l am a Christian.

my mum pretends to be christian to seem cool, i dont do that so i guess

Mother Mormon
Father Lutheran
Best friend Catholic (went with him sometimes)
Neither practiced but all extended family did so we got roped into both
Kicked out of Mormon church by 14 for asking questions
Molested by Luther janitor watched porn and got head no bum action sorry guise

I don't believe in God. Not sure why. Messed around with pagan shit. Wasn't bad... but yea, the universe is beautiful but the world is fucked... cuza jews

It's not a phase mom!

mother is catholic
father is lutheran
I never put much thought into it but I'd consider myself lutheran over catholic

I'm an Orthodox Jew. Oy vey.

Lutherans are down to earth. I like them and baptists. Alabama rich white baptists. Nothin says I love Jesus like Wanda bringing rum balls to the singles Sunday school class.

>any christcuck
>down to earth
Only atheists are down to earth. Additionally, unlike ANY other religion, only christcucks don't even read their own holy book.

Not an argument.

Love the bait tbf.

Don’t get so fucking egotistical. Just because a society needs traditional values and you’re religion happens to encompass that doesn’t mean you’re the central pillar of society

Parents: atheist.
Me: atheist/existential nihilist.

>inb4 loooool gO wAtCH le riCK & moARty edGElOrd fegGit

I'm not one of the edgelords who tries to proselytize religious people into dropping their beliefs. I don't even tell any of my friends or extended family what I am.

Of course I am faggot

Checked and rekt

Don't get so buttmad faggot

Not an argument.
Your butthurt is closer to an argument than your posts.

Don’t be such a Christ cuck

Read Baudrillard and Evola and I can asure you you'll become an nihilist/radical traditionalist afterwards.

I already posted a killer meme. You loss baby boy.

My numbers prove that you are a faggot, don't be such a cuck in general.

>Father is a modern style christian lay preacher who also embraces a slew of other religious teaching
>Mother is a fairly non-judgemental atheist who is only openly hostile to religion when it preys on the gullible or vulnerable
I'm an atheist in that I don't believe there is a god, but huge fan of christian theology as well as basically all religion. Kind of wish I had faith as I feel very cosmically lonely and am terrified of death, but you cannot choose faith if it isn't within you, and lying about what you believe is pointless noise.

Was raised by two atheists but now i'm a christian

>I became an atheist to spite [my parents].

Your life is a meme

Attached: 1504033485943.png (800x556, 807K)

i was an atheist but now im christian to spite OP

When is your 13th birthday?

Proud thelemite

One could think the opposite, since in many cases religion it's something you grow up with. The Islamic boy in Saudi Arabia doesn't do much effort in believing since he is raise that way not believing would be something with effort for him

>its a scientific fact.
>I won't even read the responses
O-ok thanks for providing evidence sir

But it takes more effort to expand upon and grow the faith and traditions your father left you, it's much much easier to throw it all to the wayside.

go away italy

My parents were Christians, now dad is pagan and mom is an atheist.
I'm still a Christian.

They also call this "culturally Christian" which I agree with. I was raised by a Lutheran and a Catholic; I attended church at both denominations, I happen to have a lot of respect for both faiths and both religious viewpoints but I certainly don't believe in much of the literal truth concerning the Christ character or any of the supernatural elements of the book. It is certainly a valid and positive philosophy but I don't personally ascribe to it literally

Lol, it’s always funny when people say shit like this. It’s like, how much do you even know about Shinto or Hinduism? You like the white people one because it’s whiter.

They do. My family regularly read the Bible together and we each read different verses. We also prayed together as a family a lot. Talking about Biblical theory and discussing things was a regular thing in my household.

Puberty Makes fools of us all

I was never one of those who particularly disliked religion, although my parents were never invited back to any church they ever went to.
They made me study the bible, though, which largely turned me into an agnostic first, and a christian after that.
however, it took the journey into understanding politics to make me truly see the value of religion, and even more so, the value of the origins of one.

Core views of christianity, islam, and to a lesser degree, buddhism, are that the only difference that matters in mankind is spiritual.

Such a religion does not view any particular people as its own, and realizing that point is a particularly disquieting experience.
Grafting nationalism onto it doesn't really fix it either, as these religions are supranational.

To understand what I mean, the priest can call in debts that even a king cannot.
So, it's best that that priest and dogma be of your people, just as it's wise that the king be as well.
Else you will one day be asked to shed your blood in an alien land, for an alien people, for a cause that was never your own.
Or perhaps worse, you will be asked to to make war against your brothers, in the name of a foreign cause.
And your dogma will give you and your people no choice but to comply.

So as to my outlook nowadays, it can be summed up thus:
The future of a people that choose to follow a particular god can be found in the origin of said god.

Did your parents get deleted out of the timeline once you turned 18 or why do you think only underage People have Parents?

I prefer to interact with the spirit world myself. Ever since I was a child I had a recurring dream where I ate fly agaric mushrooms before even knowing it was a thing.

> mfw believe in Aristotle's first mover/first changer
> mfw appreciate Christianity for its a e s t h e t i c s, traditional values and psychological profundity
> cannot bring myself to embrace Protestantism (historically untenable and intellectually stultifying) or Catholicism/Orthodoxy (paganism minus tribalism, plus egalitarian universalism, dubious fulfillment of Jewish prophecies and doctrines/historical developments which strain credulity)
Anyone else caught between Molyenux, Feser, and Peterson?

I've never met a down to earth atheist. They all spew Marxist propaganda and pretend they are so enlightened.

>jews raising kids """progressively"""
Accurate comic.

Nice digits. Most likely implies that they can survive though, just that they tend not to. I would agree with that.

I don't understand how you can condemn leftists for ignoring reality and choosing to fund third worlders on principle, yet think that blind faith is a virtue. Are religious people really redpilled, or are they just acting on the same gut reactions that tell leftists to import third worlders and dismantle the nuclear family?

Yes

You've probably met tons of down to earth atheists. You just don't know it because they don't go out of their way to tell you that their atheist.

>their
they're

>I became an atheist to spite mine.
That almost never happens except in theist's wet dreams. Most people become atheists when they come to their senses and discard the nonsense. In fact, I'm very close to my parents and they sometimes ask me why I don't believe and to a large degree, I know they agree with me. Probably like most believers, they feel like religion is a social control tool that we're stuck with until something better comes along.

Attached: 1483869252189.jpg (500x372, 68K)

>Absolutely, without God and a unifying religion and family will not stand and survive,
Except millions of families already did survive in history without the help of any gods, fairies or leprechauns.

No they are usually some kind agnostic
atheists always bring up religion and insult your beliefs passive aggressively.

>I've never met a down to earth atheist.
So you have no idea what they're really like.

>They all spew Marxist propaganda and pretend they are so enlightened.
You pretend you're an expert on atheists despite the fact that you've never met one? Yep, you're a theist.

...

We're Christian, but they're LCMS Lutheran and I'm Eastern Orthodox.

Guess all niggers are geniuses since there exists at least one nigger in history with an IQ north of 100 then.

>agnostic
Agnosticism is usually weak or tolerant atheism. Atheism is the lack of belief in a god, not the hatred of belief in a god.

Attached: Atheist false etymology of religion.jpg (518x620, 122K)

I just consider myself a Theist, with no adjectives or anything.

I just believe in God, a god that exists both subjectively and objectively, a god that can be interpreted with mythology (metaphysics) or science (physics). However your native language(s) and its religious traditions will be the most relatable to you.

Descarte's experiment resulting in 'Cogito Ergo Sum' is the ritual one must practice to understand this interpretation of god.

No shit retard

Sort of? My parents are buddhist, and I was originally an agnostic-athiest, although I've grown a separate interest into indian spiritualism lately. But my parents don't really practise much buddhism in the house anyway, so they didn't really have a direct effect on any spirituality I have.
