Wasn’t TTIP about dropping all tariff between the US and EU?

Currently the value blended tariff average on US good coming to the EU is 2.3 percent and for EU goods going to the US it is 2.1 percent.

The EU has long pushed to make this 0 percent for the EU and the US. Hence TTIP, a FTA designed to increase US-European trade by eliminating 98 percent of all tariffs and also lower bureaucracy and non-tariff barriers.

Trump stopped TTIP and wants to put 25 percent tariffs on steel. Now he complains about the EU being the bad guys. Does he really believe what he is saying?

No it was about US corporations being able to sue European countries for not buying their shit.

No, it was about tariffs.

whatever merkel

Faggot

Faggot

it was about dropping all tariffs

Pretty much everyone on both sides hates ttip. Only lobbyists and multinationals like it. Draws the same "anti IMF" protesters. Not saying that makes it bad just unlikely of it happening with or without Trump

Trump just wants to give gibs to some industries over others. This is another redistributive welfare program

This is exactly the shit that the British government should be doing in their Brexit negotiations.

This user gets it. Scraps to Saccone in Pennsylvania. Nobodies buying it. RNC is shitting themselves trying to keep the seat.

>Pretty much everyone on both sides hates ttip.

For no good reason whatsoever. It is just a free trade agreement. People 'hate' it because it includes a normal provision to solve problems through fast arbitration proceedings between corporations and corporations and the governments of the EU and US.

Why people want tariffs on products is beyond me. I want lower costs on US cars, and my guess is Americans want lower tariffs on French cheese or German machines.

They're retards who don't know anything about trade, tariffs, other barriers or industry.
It's very similar to the gun debate in that half the people arguing don't know basic shit about the subject

He spent almost 15 minutes of his rally in Pennsylvania breaking down the rationale.

The deficit amount is too great for his liking and nobody is doing anything about it.

Most of it is due to that the US basically allows the EU to sell anything in the US with little to no barriers but the US cannot even sell things like agricultural produce, meat, etc to the EU, some of it being outright banned.

If that continues exported cars are going to be hit.

If that happens sales will go down and we will either see a change in that trade relationship or we will start seeing plants being built here to produce those cars here.

They should just let Trump do it, he would just get it done without fucking around so much.

>They're retards who don't know anything about trade, tariffs, other barriers or industry.
>It's very similar to the gun debate in that half the people arguing don't know basic shit about the subject

Absolutely. A tariff is a tax. People who want tariffs are essentially asking for high taxes. How anyone can be stupid enough to argue for the introduction or upkeep of high taxes is beyond me. I will always be for lowering taxes.

>produce shitty cars
>no one buys them
>gosh darn it! better put tariffs on those euro cars which have an unfair advantage of being better

because everyone bitches about free trade but we dont actually have it? He is going to force those european faggots to actually have free trade w/ us

I dont care. I just want to see Germany's economy crash and burn, and live stream footage of you cucks getting slaughtered by migrants.

Its really just as simple as that.

If it was just about tariffs, the whole contract could've fit onto a few A4 pages. Instead it was a monster of a contract with thousands of pages with all kinds of provisions no European in their right mind wants, such as American products being able to use protected European geographical brands.

>The deficit amount is too great for his liking and nobody is doing anything about it.

Guess what, if there are no tariffs between the EU and the US then the only thing causing a trade surplus or trade deficit is the free market. If there is a constant trade deficit then the US dollar will eventually weaken, which in turn makes EU products more expensive and the trade deficit with the EU will go away.

The reason why the free market is not allowed to work freely on EU-US trade is insane. And Trump arguing that the trade deficit is some kind of evil shit some EU countries are imposing on an innocent US is also retarded. The trade deficit is caused by e.g. US companies like Tesla buying production machines or car components manufactured in Europe. Or by US consumers buying products produced in the EU, while the US itself has a generally lower percentage of its economy in manufacturing - and as a result sells a lower volume of goods to foreign countries. Why this should be bad is beyond me. Eventually it is free floating currencies which will just even things out.

Would be nice if he'd do something about the GMO's and hormones that make us mistrust American produce and meat instead of just jacking up tariffs.

>because everyone bitches about free trade but we dont actually have it? He is going to force those european faggots to actually have free trade w/ us

Shit, dude, it is TRUMP who has stopped TTIP which was supposed to end all tariffs and limit non-tariff barriers.

Sometimes I think some Americans are just not humans but drones. Think for a second before you post!

>the US basically allows the EU to sell anything in the US with little to no barriers
Topkek

>I just want to see Germany's economy crash and burn

Fine. But then don't say Germany is doing anything unfair to the US. If you don't want tariffs... vote for a president who doesn't want tariffs but FTAs.

If you want Germany's economy to crash and burn... don't station your soldiers here but pull them out immediately... all of them. Then put tariffs on German cars etc., be protectionist! This is the socialist way, protectionism! Even Karl Marx said it.

Yeah, why would anyone hate a treaty that makes it unlawful to impose any actually effective regulations on the financial sector? Everyone knows we should just surrender our sovereignty and let multinational banks and corporations run everything as they please, it's common sense.

Faggot

>Yeah, why would anyone hate a treaty that makes it unlawful to impose any actually effective regulations on the financial sector?
Are you serious? TTIP doesn't do that at all. Actually, the financial sector has been burdened by Basel III, Mifid-2 (in the EU), Sarbanes-Oxley and Dodd-Frank (in the US), Solvency II (in the EU) etc. It is crazy how regulated the financial industry is today, it is essentially state run. And why? I have never heard a good reason why the financial industry should be so heavily regulated, it makes it inefficient and wasteful!

>Everyone knows we should just surrender our sovereignty and let multinational banks and corporations run everything as they please, it's common sense.
Are you completely crazy? The free market is what makes us prosperous. TTIP doesn't hand over any power whatsoever to corporations. What it does do is allow corporations to sue the EU or an EU state or the US or a US state for deliberately breaching TTIP. That makes sense, because if a country or state violates an international treaty there should be a remedy!

It's a double edged sword. Deregulate and financial industry fucks people in the ass. Over regulate and the financial industry fucks people in the ass. Striking a balance would be nice but is unlikely.
