There was a much bigger political commitment made, hence why both the US and UK sent more troops over the following years not to mention other coalition members. Lets be honest, airborne is outdated. There are not many situations in which it is necessary to airdrop a whole regiment. If there is a reason its likely smarter to deploy from helicopters. Which all of our infantry are trained to do. The only people who need to be trained to jump out of planes are our special forces. Along with a few companies for specific jobs. Tell me when the last time a airborne regiment made a significant impact in a battle. I'd much rather our limited resources be put somewhere else.
