I like it PRECISELY because it's so over-the-top and tongue-in-cheek. Don't get me wrong, most of the stuff I watch is a lot more grounded, but sometimes people need something that just uplifts them, not get them to question their mortality or something like that.

It has an incredibly simple message, but it's one that not a lot of people here these days, and so a lot of people are naturally drawn to it. Seriously, I know some of you reading this will think this is nerdy as fuck, but I have legitimately used Kamina's quotes to get me through tough periods of life or to make important decisions.

It's the same reason why people like the Shawshank Redemption, or the Princess Bride, or It's A Wonderful Life. They're simple stories with positive messages, which is something that a lot of people need in a world inundated with morally grey, edgy stuff.

People like The Princess Bride because of how goddamn quotable it is.
